As boardwalker said this is a very solid MMO, one thing I like in particular and its funny that you mentioned it "meaningless grinding and quests", while there isn't a whole lot of new added to a basic MMO quest style there is alot of story behind every quest you do, it may sound strange but with how story driven the quests are (especially the campaign missions) even killing wolves seems somewhat heroic and epic.

Crafting in Aion is a breath of fresh air, though not vastly different than whats out there it is more fun and less monotonous than other MMO's, plus the fact you can crit and get better items and gain xp from crafting makes it feel like less of a waste. NCsoft has incorperated private stores into Aion and they did it very well.

Aerial combat is a blast, some say thats its not as big of a deal as people make it sound,  but in a PvP situation this is another fun stategy that may give many people an edge and add another layer of difficulty to the game, speaking of PvP the way that NCsoft has done PvPvE just  feels right, after playing WAR for almost a year and never feeling like I was getting the game I wanted just makes Aion seem that much better.

I could go on all day about this game, but I won't, Though there may not be anything earth shattering new about this game, it is very well done and I hope it will go down in history as one of the great game of my time, so I think anyone who likes a fantasy based MMO's should at least give this one a try.

I move with my mouse with auto run on my mouse button 4 and mainly click that on and off as I need to move.

As for abilities I bind asdfg ect. as hot bar one, qwert ect for hot bar two 12345 for hotbar three seems to work well for me.

The only thing I am really afraid of is badgers, Aions grind didn't seem to trouble me to much, I have played much worse. However I am glad to hear they are giving us more opportunities to progress through the leveling proccess as painless as possible.

I have played Aion on Win 7 and it runs great, the only thing I had to do was download a different version of gamegaurd, apparently NCsoft's version does not support Win 7, but if you go to Aionsource.com you can find a link for the gamegaurd fix.

Any MMO that gets canceled is obviously having massive problems

Not exactly true, the MMO I was most disappointed about being cancelled (in this case being "put on hold") Was Imperator from Mythic, apparently this game was put on hold to work on a big name title, this title as we found out later was WAR, now I am not sastified with that out come, but what can you do.

This may just be one of those special examples, but not all MMO's are cancelled due to problems, sometimes as in this case special interests.

But I do agree to an extent that "alot" of MMO's are cancelled due to major problems, and you are right about how we are better off without them.

WoW is like eating off one of those taco trucks, you swear you are never gonna do it again, because after the initial orgy of flavor that tickles you're taste buds is over you're left a miserable shell of a man, but eventually you start craving that deepfried golden piece of heaven wrapped up in a tortilla and well, you just can't help but to go back to that truck, you just can't help it.

Replaying Oblivion. Going to replay Fallout 3 after that, and then buy Fable 2. Not sure what I will do once I'm done with those 3. Hopefully those will keep me occuppied for 4-6 months.

Fallout and Oblivion will take you alot of time to replay both and do everything, Unfortunatly Fable 2 will take all of a week to accomplish everything and get all the Xbox achievements.

I was a little disappointed how short the game was, but don't let  that get you down, still a really fun game, just don't plan on it taking too much of your 4-6 month time frame.

Unfortunately, I only play about 10-15 hours a week. Been playing Oblivion for 3 weeks, and still haven't done much. I miss the days of playing games for 12+ hours.

I hear ya there, well maybe you can stretch the game out a little more than I did, I was on vacation when it came out so I had the 12 hours a day to play and it was great! =)

Have you played Fallout 3 or RE 5, both awesome games, and I heard a mention of CoD 4, thats always a good way to blow some time.

"Damn I lost my lighter!"

Anyway you seem so sure everyone is gonna flame you, have you no faith in people anymore? Well TBH I dont blame you, but the way you worded your position on this game wont help avoid the fire man.

I played WoW for over three years and have since quit and I honestly was talking to a friend the other day on weather new people are joining WoW or not because last time I started an alt I couldn't get a group to save my life, you sir have anwered that question, thank you.

Sounds like I share similar intrests as you, I also may check out FE but I am really waiting for SW: TOR.

In the mean time I have been trying various MMO's most recently Vanguard, but I have been playing alot of XBox 360 mostly CoD 4, I have replayed Mass Effect and BioShock seeing as their sequals will be out this year.

I may replay Fallout 3 as well and try to get those elusive achievements that escaped my clutch the first time through the game.

After I quit WoW I picked up beer as a hobby, some say it wasn't the best idea, and though I am 30 lbs. heavier, I am quite happy.

However if you insist on finding a new game, I enjoyed WAR and AoC for a lil bit, and as much as I dislike SOE i find vanguard entertaining, these are just games I have really played since WoW, I am not telling you to play them or say ing they would be good for you, I don't know you so I wont make a statement like that.

I suggest When it comes to searching for a new MMO since everyone has such different taste take advantage of free trials, I mean try them all, you will eventually find something to make you happy.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (commonly abbreviated MMORPG) is a genre of computer role-playing games in which a large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world. The term MMORPG was coined by Richard Garriott,[citation needed] the creator of Ultima Online, the game credited with popularizing the genre in 1997.[1][2]

As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a fictional character (often in a fantasy world),[3] and take control over many of that character's actions.[4] MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player CRPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game.

MMORPGs are very popular throughout the world.[5] Worldwide revenues for MMORPGs exceeded half a billion dollars in 2005,[6] and Western revenues exceeded US$1 billion in 2006.[7] In 2007 and 2008 the virtual goods buying and trading has taken an amazing increase. Next to the more traditional subscription model, virtual goods are a second source of revenues for publishers. In 2008, Western consumer spending on subscription MMOGs grew to $1.4 billion.[8] The most popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has over 11 million paying subscribers as of 2009.

Sorry man I just don't understand where you get the idea that WoW is not an RPG, by the definition I found it qualifies perfectly.

WAR, quests are easily trackable and fun, RvR was a blast, and with the Lands of the Dead coming up there is going to be good new content to experiance, leveling is not to painful, and there is always someone to fight if you are PvP driven.

The downside to this game for me is city sieges were not all that I hoped for, and I am personally the type of person that gets bored with PvP after I do to much of it, and as this game does revolve around RvR alot and I spent many many hours in  scenarios, I just grew bored, but this is a good game and it does offer much to gamers.

Then there is AoC, many remember the awful launch and the lack of gameplay after 40, but as for now I think Funcom have turned this game completely around, classes seem more balanced than they did at launch, the world seems less lonely and grouping seems alot funner, I havent leveled a new character so I can't tell what the grind after 40 is like, but I hear good things about.

I feel PvP is a little easy, but as you can tell I am really picky about my PvP,  I dont like zoning very much, but as you seem to like GW I don't think this will bother you much.

There also LotRO, This game takes the cake for as far as story and PvE I had a really good time in this game, the community is great, classes are great and leveling was really fun, the UI seems very familiar, so the learning curve is low, seems to be alot of people leveling alts right now, so you shouldn't have a hard time forming fellowships.

Also with the Mines of Moria expansion still fresh there is some newer content to experiance, not to mention 10 bucks a month to play =)

I am currently trying Vanguard and it seems really fun as well, crafting is amazing, this game feels good and the community is great, I haven't played this game enough to tell you how I feel yet, and I am very cautious when it comes to SOE, but if it looks good to you I say give it a trial.

I have also played EVE and I feel this game is not for everyone, as this game is not exactly right up my alley either, but even though this is not my niche, I sttill have fun everytime I log in, I feel its put together well, exploration is great, skilling up is fun and the the UI being very detailed and large is actually very user friendly.

I hope this reply will help at least a little, I don't post much here, but seeing as I have been from game to game and don't know where to stay lately I figured I would offer you my 2 cents.

Good luck in your search.
