Hey guys, I got a lot of help on my other computer problems here, so I had another question I wanted to ask: Which Power supply is better? Right now, I have both of these in my possession and I can easily switch my current one with the other one. I am just not sure which one is better.
The first one that I am currently using is an Antec Earthwatts EA 500 http://store.antec.com/Product/power_supply-earthwatts/ea-500/0-761345-27500-2.aspx
The other one that I am able to use is an Antec Neo HE550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103941
Which is better? and if I switched them would the difference be noticeable? Thanks :) |

Hey everyone, so my new parts came all shiny and great! :) My computer feels much better after my upgrades, but there is still a problem. Supposedly, my CPU is the last thing i need to replace to fix my computer up. It seems to be dragging me down according to systemrequirementslab.
The Info is: Intel Core 2 CPUm, 6400 @2.13GHz (2 CPUs) ~2.1GHz
How much will it cost and is it worth it to update it? |

I'm gonna go for this video card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125348&cm_re=radeon_hd_6850-_-14-125-348-_-Product
and this RAM to upgrade my current RAM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161279
Good idea? will I get any compatibility issues? thanks everyone? :)

I've decided to get a new video card and new ram. I believe my motherboard only has 3 slots total, so I'm going to scrap my current two 1gig sticks of RAM for two 2gig sticks.
For the video card, I'm going to go for the GTX 460 1gig.
I checked newegg.com and the price totals around 180-200, which is reasonable.
Does this seem like a good idea?

So what I got from this is that if I switch to my older monitor, (its still really nice, but it works with 1280x1024) My framerates will be better. Right now im running from a 1920x1200, so I could switch, it wouldnt be the end of the world. Also, I'm running on 32 bit windows 7. Seeing as I can only use 3.3gigs of RAM, I'll most likely get one more 1 gig stick then. i guess ill upgrade my video card along with that. Budget is now roughly 240~ :) My monitor is a Dell 2407 WFP model if that helps I don't get blue screens, I've never gotten one. Would it be helpful if i posted my DxDiag.txt ? |

I am using a 1920x1200 monitor, so either use a smaller one or go for the 1gig video card? |
|
Originally posted by noquarter Okay thanks! :) First question is, since i already have two 1 gig sticks or RAM installed, wouldn't I need to replace them with two 2 gig sticks? or can i just add two more 1 gig sticks? Sorry for the simple questions, I'm really not a good computer hardware guy :\
Second, that video card looks pretty solid for the price, do you think the combination of the new 4 gigs or RAM and the new video card would boost my computers performance? |
|
|
Okay thanks for all the help guys :) I guess I'm gonna go for the 4 gigs of ram first. Right now i have Two 1 gig sticks of ram. Anyone have any suggestions for the ram? like a link or something ? :D |

So any ideas? |

My limit is roughly 150 dollars. What would my money be best spent on? When I played Red Faction Guerrilla, my computer would get extremely choppy when I blew up a building. I mean borderline unplayable. What can I do to get games running smoothly.
And as for RIFT, i can play that game on low/medium graphics smoothly, but when I bump up to high or ultra, my framerate just drops. and it gets reallychoppy. |
|
|
So basically I want my computer to be able to run games faster and not freeze up during game play. |
