Because it makes you feel better.

I see that this game is getting tons of awards on mmorpg.com... this could be due to all the fanboys for Lotro, or just alot of people that didn't want WoW to win. I play both WoW and Lotro. I love the lore and storylines in Lotro, it definitely is alot better than WoW. However, there is one thing that makes it harder and harder by the day for me to keep my subscription in Lotro.

The combat. It feels severely dated even compared to EQ2's combat. There, I said it. At least when I try to heal on EQ2 my heal cast starts immediately. In Lotro, I have to wait for that invisible server tick to start my cast to heal somebody.

Same thing goes with melee combat. EVERY ability is on next attack, or whenever that server tick happens anyway. I get tired of queue'ing two abilities at a time. I'd rather see the abilities go off whenever I push the button, or at least start a cast bar for it or something.

Just seems like the people who voted for Lotro are severely overlooking how awful the combat in the game is.

I'm probably going to be playing age of conan over this. At least it has nice combat.

That combat system was slowing me down, so i quite this game as well.

TBH out of 3, the first book holded the least intrest for me. So, i'll probably come back to experience the Battle of the Hornburg (Helm's Deep), and to see there version of Osgiliath City.

Well after 3+ hours of going through forums it seems Captain would be my best best, even if I am not a fan of humans(always seem overpopulated in every game).

I LOVED my bard in EQ and havnt found any class that I enjoyed  as much in any other game. Captain sounds closest to what I am looking for(I think). Basically bard was every other class rolled into one, could do just about anything but not as good as the other classes. Part of the fun and challenge was knowing what to do and when because you could do so much. Could solo more then most classes could but often took a really long time to do it. The main thing I really liked was Bard buffs, the ability to turn a bad group into a good group or a good group into a great group I found fun. Always being welcomed in a group is nice, woohoo cool we got a "class" is much better than oh yuk a "class".

Although the Captian does sound similar some of the posts make it sound as if people dont really like captains. My wife will almost certainly be going with minstrel, she likes how the idea of how it works. I just dont want to play a class that will make getting groups hard.

I have seen a few posts that make it sound as if two minstrels are really powerful in a duo. Is that true? and if so what are the chances of people taking two minstrels?

The more I read about this game the more I think ill like it. Now if only I had something to do to pass the time instead of checking UPS for package tracker updates.....

Captain screams alote, which makes him ruther annoying with time. And he is sorter weak compare to all other meleer classes.

Try Lore-Master instead, you wont regreat it. A well played Lore-Master can do so many amazing things. And Lore-master is aways welcome in any groups.

You know me and several friends that I play MMO's with been talking about how cool it would be if someone were to make a Robotech or Macross MMO. Considering the rich storlines, the varied different ways that a company can go with the game. The fanbase is already there, you talk to anyone that has ever watched an anime and I will guarentee that 95% of them has seen either robotech or macross. I would like to start a petition for a respectable game company to take a look at possibly making a Robotech or Macross MMO, Iam postive that Iam not the only one out there that has often thought about this and how cool it would be to play.

Think about it for a moment, they are making a robotech movie, the kid that played spider-man bought the rights to it and is starring as Rick Hunter. The movie would be a great way for a company to make an MMO based on either of those 2 very popular series. The robotech series maybe over but the Macross series is still very much alive and well in Japan. So pleaee take those into consideration about this type of game.

WHO ELSE OUT THERE WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN MMO BASED ON EITHER OF THESE 2 AWESOME SERIES?!?!!?

If you are looking for a Macross-like-universe MMO, i can recommend keeping an eye for MMO with a title " BlackStar ". Featuring:

Preproduction gameplay Video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRL7KZ0tJk0

A new breed of game, Blackstar resurrects the dream of online space combat with real-time spaceflight featuring fast and nimble fighter-craft loaded with devastating sci-fi weapons.

You aren’t limited to the canopy: get out of your ship and hit the deck for fast paced ground combat on the surface of alien worlds and aboard enemy ships.

Combine spell-casting with real time shooting as you blast through enemies, collect loot, and gain levels in a variety of unique alien environments.

Join up with your friends in maneuverable fleet formations to take on capital ships and enemy starbases in epic large scale battles.

Play as a member of one of two galaxy-spanning factions: the hopeful and technologically advanced United Colonies or the dangerous, prophecy-guided Scorn Empire.

Choose your role in the fight from a variety of powerful classes: From deadly Assassins operating behind the enemy lines, to powerful Crusaders who shrug off damage and unleash volleys of blistering fire, pick the role that matches your style of play.

Participate in a rich story as the forces of futuristic technology and mind-twisting magic clash in a battle to decide the fate of the galaxy.

Declare war against other players and destroy them in action packed player-vs-player combat that serves all levels of skill from the freshest cadet to the deadliest ace

AoC has great graphics and the rest is pretty piss poor, LOTRO is a solid game all around.

Ohh.. Hold on there, I do not know about LotRO but I certainly know about AoC. i just started playing it and I would say it's fantastic.

Tortage is excellent, no wonder you find the game fantastic.

However, when you leave the tutorial area (above lvl 20), it is a screaming downfall - at least, for many, many people :(

DB

What? I didnt saw any difference between Tortage and other areas. And i got as far as Fields of the Dead now.

Just got AoC guys. I am entering Tortage and I dig this so fare. really absolutely mindblowing graphics as well as atmosphere (and jaxundane thanks for lying to me and the community). I'll let you know when I also get my hands on LotRO. Evenetually there will come a very reflected objective comparison of the games.

I tried playing LOTRO after AOC, but just couldnt get in to it again.  I think AOC combat system has spoiled me forgood now.

I canceled my account 2 days ago lol and I got banned for killing players that were trying to get to the noble district villas.

Pretty lame tho , they knew I was leaving so banned me to keep their existing carebear customers happy .

The game is going to die a slow death. Especially when their was only 45 players logged into the entire server .

Hah, you got pwned! H`asta la vista baby!

Anyone who says AoC is gonna be around in a year from now is nuts.

Somehow i dont care if its 700'000 or 500 players playing the game. And i care even less about Stocks.

AoC set up a new requirements for me, for what to look in upcomming MMO's, and unfortinalty WAR, AION, SGW -  do not meet thouse requirements anymore. Once you been on the top, going back down seems like a waiste of my time.

AoC is my cow, and i'll be milking it untill the end.

disney on speed huh? it always amazes me that there is so much rabid debate on prefered artstyle. i think i'd rather play the fun game over the pretty one anyday.

Exactly. Fun gameplay and long lasting immersion is what it all boils down to. FunCom did their best to be next gen in graphics but the game is in general considered to be a disapointment because they failed to deliver in the gameplay and immersion departments.

To those having a problem with the pics I posted;

They were just a rushed comparison of two orcs and I admit; not very fair, equipment wise. But be my guest and browse some more WAR pics for yourself. I do think WAR looks a lot better then WoW.

http://www.warhammeronline.com/screenshots/index.php

But what's more; people are saying they have been running around in groups of +250 players in one area at the preview weekend and not experience lag at all. And there you have the downside of topnotch graphics and spell effects in an mmo; gamebreaking lag as soon as there is some massive pvp going on.

A fool's paradise is a wise mans hell.

At least they are moving forward. One can always add some content to the game later on.

Just picked up AoC to see what all the fuss was about first hand.  Hopeuflly I will enjoy it.

Quick question while I install the client though:

What is the difference between the pve and pvp servers? Will I get horribly horribly massacred in the pvp servers and be forced to stroll on my knees through swamps looking for rats to kill to level up because all the main mob areas are full of bloodthirsty 8 year olds? Does it enhance the experience or detract from it?  And what is this culture pvp about?

So, how are you enjoying the game?

Loved the movie. Are there rewards? How do you win? Can one win?

I read the game overview and it sound's like you have to go where the game says to go is this true? If so, can you go alternate routes to get to the same goal?

Finally, and please no joking ; Can you character be molded to look exactly like arnold shwarzenneger?

Thanks ahead of time

Dont waist your money on this yet. Seriously. When 98% of everyone here tells you its a bad idea, its usually is.

Wait another 6 to 9 months if you want to play it. If you play it now, you'll just be throwing 50 bucks in a trashcan

I agree that the graphics from posted screenshots and vids look very simplistic, but surely that'd a good thing?

They arn't BAD graphics, they just arn't amazing graphics. So it's obvious that the team have worked more on content than looks. Unlike Funcom who worked on Graphics over content for AoC, resulting in a VERY dull game with lots of content holes in it.

If they worked on that content you speak of, wouldnt we still had a game  with 4 more classes and citys in it?

P.S.: It is to late to pull the  " still in beta "card, with 3 weeks till release.

Adjustments do not work. From what i understood the fan control cables were clipped at the factory.  Done on purpose , hence why the cheap price on it as well.

I got a cheap 8800GT card with not adjustable 100% fan speed.  As you may guess it makes lots of noise.

Could anyone recommend any decent fan/coolers that i could replace it with, that is quiet and wouldnt require a rocket-scientist to install it?

24 votes and not a single one toward Raid option .

Group for me.

I wonder, will we be wiped out by a random meteor tomorrow?

Couldn't agree more with the topic title, this coming from the RF Online side of things. Their GM support is bad (I never saw instances of screenshots like that though, that's horrible), RFO hasn't had an event in a year pretty much (not counting the 1 "event" where they showed off some pretty weapons we won't get for a long time), hasn't given us any sort of news of a patch in 3 months, and continues to close topics that badmouth them. The general section of RF has half the front page littered with topics relating to CM and their incompetence, it's pretty pathetic.

Such a shame too, I used to respect them as a company to the highest degree until they started with this BS for the last year.

I think it's important that people read these topics in the general section, if we can get at least 1 person to not play a CM MMO game (feel free to play their offline games though, totally different division), then this topic was a success.

RF Online is a Korean game. What did you expected? A publisher would take over the job of developers?
