I find it interesting that you found Oblivion so horrific, yet loved Fallout 3.  Both games are so much alike it's hilarious that Bethesda think that they released something revolutionary.

Aside from that, I'm with you.  Even though I've not played this game...I hope it does well.

All in all, I think it comes down to profit. On the spectrum, I would put Fallen Earth at the lowest end of the profit spectrum, next to Darkfall.

I hope they jump up there higher...My money went straight to the devs.  I can't wait to jump into this game...Stupid patching!

Just ordered FE earlier myself and it's currently patching 46k files... yikes o.o.

Anyway... I remember checking this out on and off throughout its development and thinking it looked really interesting. Now that it's out, and people are playing it... gotta say, other than the bumps they had at launch, this game seems to have a very positive response overall.

I love the sandboxy-ness of it... I never got to play much of pre-CU SWG before they changed it, but really enjoyed that freedom and true diversity while it lasted, so seeing the comparisons to that really has my interest. Plus.. I dunno.. I haven't really played a MMO based around people for a while (Matrix Online was the last one, really), and it'd be a nice change of pace. I'm not "sick of elves and orcs" - I'm a big fan of fantasy. I am sick of seeing them regurgitated in cliche' MMO after cliche' MMO that's come out over the past few years.

To play on the words of Jack Nicholson's The Joker... "This genre needs an enema!" - or at least more variety and some more in-depth, interesting games for those of us who don't mind having to use our brains at least as much as our mouse fingers.

So... maybe for me, FE will be one of those games. We shall see :).

Well said, I can't wait for the $35 I'll be making tomorrow.  Probably should be putting it towards food for my apartment.

But I figure if I'm going to hungry...I might as well be hungry and losing weight while playing something original and unlike anything I've seen so far.

I'll definitely be handing the developers my $50 and purchasing it through them.  An ATV in-game, and the chance to help a no-name out-of-the-box developer sounds like something I rarely get to do.

Coincidence?

Trailer looks interesting.  Love the actors...However, the premise seems ridiculous.

There's just something inherently wrong with Denzel Washington protecting a "book" (?) and kicking the crap out of people while doing so.

Meh, I honestly think the film will flop.  If it doesn't I'll definitely fork out the $12 so my girlfriend and I can see it.

Whats the lv cap? Or what you call end game?

level 45 for right now. Level 150 once they are finished.

You can find a few level 150 npc's walking around. I know...one totally pwned me when I got to close to look at him.

Finished?

A bad term for any MMO, but even then they need to know when to stop I guess. Going on forever is fruitless, and they prolly have new skills figured in and just how much AP can go around at that point.

What I am interested in though is seeing more of the USA open up, I wanna squeal with glee as I cross the rockies over into souther california and Tijuana (which would prolly be the most powerful place in the zone lol), as well as see post-apocalyptic swamps in lousiana past the dead straw fields of kansas. It's got a very home-like feel to it being an American, I can only hope there is a tattered flag to wear as a cape at some point.

You're making me grit my teeth.  Don't EVER make me remember Fallout 3 and its addons again.

Its digital only it appears. After paying for the game they just let you download the client and it then downloads the updates. They don't send you anything.

I can understand why you would want to get a physical copy of the game though. Usually I prefer to do that as well. But I mostly only feel that way about single player games. For an MMO, the single player copy just becoems a paper weight if the servers shut down (like that copy of Tabula Rasa I have) so I figured a digital download is no big deal for MMOs anymore.

Thanks.  I'll likely go with the digital download then.  Plus I read that I'd get a free horse for doing so.

My local Gamestop used to be bearable up until about a month ago.  It still looked like an old EB Games.  The manager was an okay douche-bag...But all of the employees were decent people, especially the assistant manager.  I walked in the other day to return a guitar I bought online, and the store now looks like all the other Gamestop-retro shitholes...And management changed.  I asked the manager what happened, he explained.  Then as he finished the guitar return and I sign for the $15, he asks because the amount is so low, if I'd like to put $5 towards a pre-order.

I was like..."No".  I figured it'd stop there, instead he's like..."So you're not a Call of Duty fan then?"  Which pissed me off.  I replied, "No, actually I love Call of Duty, I'm just not a pre-ordering fan".  To this he replied, "Why's that, put $5 down, get $5 off the price of the game when you buy it".

I then replied, "No, I'd rather go to Target, there I actually get $5 off of the game when I buy it and a gift card".  He wouldn't shut the hell up, "But if you pre-order here you get exclusive pre-ordering bonuses only available here"...

I walked out the door, the store won't be seeing my face for awhile...A least until one of their trade values/promotions allows me to punch them where it counts.

Amazon.com

Or you could download the game directly from the developer's website.

Yes, this.

If you purchase the game from the developer, that money goes directly to them.  Otherwise, buying from Gamestop, that pre-order pushing shithole will get a chunk.

I HATE being asked if I want to preorder games every time I walk through that door.  Especially when I'm asked again when they're answered, "No".  I fucking hate that store, and am proud to use their trade-values to my benefit on a great many occasions.

But yeah, on this subject...I really am thinking of buying this game.  I want to support the developer, but I also want a hard-copy...Will I be shipped one if I order through their website, or is it only a Digital-Download (not a fan).

Thanks for the good laugh Zorvan.

I also find it funny that it only took me 15 minutes to recap on the failure of Darkfall, seeing as I haven't been to this site in a couple of months.

But yeah, definitely worth the time for this thread.

Anyone who tells you that this game is "amazing" is one of the following.

1. Tasos

2,. Some other Dev.

3. Friend of a Dev or Shill.

4. Someone with ridiculuosly low standards who feels that a poorly done combat simulator equates to "amazing".

5. fanboy who can't let go..

No I was not stupid enough to buy it but one of my family members was even after I told them not to waste 50 bucks on something that is barely above shareware quality.

I'am not quite sure what exactly they were doing for 8 years.. or even 6 years.. whichever way you want to look at it.. but it sure as hell was not developing this game because in reality it should not have taken more than 2 years to build what amounts to nothing more than a totally empty, featureless, contentless video game. Darkfall is nothing more than a poory done combat simulator system with bad animations, outdated graphics, terrible sound/music , terrible CS, and barebones functionality at best. Couple this with a group of people who are seemingly some of the most incompetent and common sense challenged to ever launch a MMO and you have Failure within a few short months, if not weeks.

People are already saying they are bored and cancelling after only 3 weeks of play which shouldn't surprise at all becaus that's the obvious thing that would happen when there's nothing else to do in a game other than to PK and "full loot".

You can go play www.QuakeLive.com for free and get more enjoyment PK'ing people then playing.

Queue on!

Perhaps, but it is also the most fun MMO I have ever played.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it...

And so the loyal soldiers remain so, even after the battle was lost, and the "trolls" were right all along. But Im sure somewhere theres a man saying to himself. "Ball&Cup? WOW this is a blast, I love trying to get the ball into the cup, its so much fun!"

And yes the blind haters remain so, even after the battle was lost, and the fans were right all along.

in what alternate reality? The haters won for now, DF is a mess, it can still redeem itself, but atm its 1 haters 0 fanbois.

But don't give them credit for "calling it" haters hate the game regardless of what happens or how the game is. You should give the skeptics or fanboi's who realized that DF was releasing a disaster credit, because they used logic to come to their conclusion, unlike the haters who used blind faith

What crack are you smoking...The "haters" weren't blind idiots...They were jaded, former fans.

And yes, anyone who saw this burning train coming down the tracks, you get a pat on the back.

~pats himself on the back~

Jesus, didn't think Darkfall would end up with this shitty of a launch, but whatever...

It's their game, I told them that they could ruin it if they wanted to :)

Don't worry loyal fans, just remember that Darkfall is currently feature-complete and more ready for release than most MMOs currently on the market!  Also, I am God.

Sorry, just randomly venting.

Evasia, your masterful use of the English language, makes me chuckle everytime you post.

I hope Tasos' R&R time is reduced to an hour every two days...Maybe he'll learn to not make so many far-fetched promises later in life.

Yeah...I'm just so glad I didn't pre-order.

Aventurine really dropped the ball on this release, at least from what I've read.  I will say I agree with you, Ghost.  I feel that if you're going to release a game, and charge for it...The website sponsoring that game "should" be updated with the game's current features.  There's just absolutely no excuse for Aventurine doing what they did.  I really doubt that many people pre-ordered Darkfall thinking that they'd receive a game with the FAQ's promised features...But it's still ethically wrong.

I feel an open beta should have been done before this shoddy release...Hell, ask for donations.  The last thing Aventurine should have done was gone back on their word of "no pre-orders, we'll do an open-beta"...But whatever, I've always said it, it's their game...They can fuck it up if they want.

I personally think Darkfall will bomb in the end and prove itself to be nothing more than most F2P MMOs...I could be wrong, but I won't stupidly find out by handing them 50 bucks.

How would you guys say crafting is?

Is it fun? (Main concern)

Is it profitable?

Is it viable? (materials are easy to find)

Thanks again.

Hey Daarco...

The question burning my mind pertains to the guard towers that were placed in random wilderness towns.

Are the guard towers in every outlying wilderness hovel, or are they only in the starter area, towns?

Sorry, this is a game-breaking feature if the towers are everywhere, killing reds for attempting to bank.

Thanks for your time...I can't express my excitement that the NDA is down, Tasos is acting like a rational human, and Darkfall actually sounding more appealing.

Aion definitely has my vote.  I haven't kept up on it, but Guild Wars was amazing for its first year, I would expect nothing less from NCSoft...Excluding CoH/V...(vomit)

You do realise that Guildwars is made by arenanet, a team that jumped of from Blizzaerd and NC soft is only the publisher, right? The games don't share a single person as far as I know.

Same with Cryptic but now NC soft own CoX and take care of it because cryptic sold it in favour of champions.

Games really developed by NCsoft is Linage 1& 2 and Auto assault.

To the OP: Duh, you think?

Didn't know that one.  And I'm assuming that NCSoft is actually making Aion then, right?

Thanks for clearing it up for me, again.  I've read the above many times, it just never stuck because I always saw NCSoft's logo.

Well i see somebody is a bit touchy you mistook me saying that coh/v is one of the best games ncsoft has as a personal attack on your honor. For that i am sorry im just saying that however craptastic the game is it is one of there better preforming mmo's and yes you do have to pay to play any mmo that is worth its salt. It didnt tank and they dont have to give it away for free. Guild Wars is a great game for sure but its not really a mmo in the sence of mmoness <-- lol. But all im saying is that in terms of makeing money and years of service well cox is second only to linage.

I'll give you that one, my friend has played it since it released.  He's not an avid MMOer, so I should say to him, what I'm going to say to you now...There are better MMOs out there    I personally think WoW was much more fun, and that's saying a lot because I loved Guild Wars compared to WoW, and despise Guild Wars now...So like, CoH is way down on the list.

And no, I'm not a bit touchy about these things, I'm just a loud-mouthed idiot who loves to read his own opinions. Honestly, whatever floats your boat, but I do hope the DC MMO will be a game that we can both agree on, my friend as well.

Penis?
