Do you agree that MMORPGs are recession proof?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/21/08 3:13:48 PM
There are so many options with MMOs that money is almsot never a factor.....There are tons of free games if money is tight......There are several things Id give up though before I dropped my internet... If I really ran into a tough spot Id stop driving......I think msot of us can say that other than a house payment/rent that our cars are probably our 2nd biggest expense...... |

Breakfast will probably be the first thing I do on the 13th....... |

LoTR best grahics in MMO's....not a well known fact.
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 10/19/08 10:39:39 PM
While the graphics were nice to look at I never felt a part of the world in LoTRO...maybe alot of that has to do with the animations and character models but I just never felt quite right there. |

Enough with this stupid casual approach already!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/19/08 12:43:08 PM
When I first started in EQ in 2000 i loved that the game didnt lead me around by the hand....I had to explore to find everything...i had no maps, there were few quests, just an open world full of danger to explore.....The problem was the not everyone felt like I did.....There were actually some players that didnt like that they had to learn things on their own and they would just quit.....Well games today try not to lose that player.....WHile they dont thrill alot of us that have been playing a few years they are able to keep alot that used to quit because they couldnt hack it in harder games that took so much longer to do things..... |

What I find funny is how more advanced mmorpgs were in 2003/04
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/18/08 8:02:48 PM
They used to design games for the sake of making great games....now it is a business and the dollar is the bottom line...... |

WoW Player Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/18/08 7:57:49 PM
There was an article on him in Yahoo! not long ago and he said he is going to preorder WoTLK and plop down his 1500 bucks for all his accounts......Also how does he get enough bandwidth with 11 PCs?? Does he also have a T1 line or 11 seperate DSL accounts too??? Heck I know I lag somewhat just trying to 2 box......I think its fine to enjoy games but this is obviously a bad message to send......A year or two down the line he'll quit like most of us do and wonder why the heck did I spend thousands on this game?? |

Need a new world, not a new expansion
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 10/17/08 2:02:07 AM
Yeah dont think for a second that Blizzard didnt take notice what happened with EQ1 when they started pouring out the expansions...... |
|

1. Vanguard- could barely run it on solid PC, world was too big, too many bugs, terrible launch, bad decisions, etc etc etc 2. EQ2/LotrO - Its hard to beleive EQ2 was the sequel to EQ1.....I would have liked it more at launch when it was a little tougher.....When I finally got around to trying it the game was basically dumbed down so much it was an insult......LOTRO should have been alot better....i can only kill so many wolves and boars before I cant quest anymore.....The game ended for me when I literally was doing nothing but running cross country from one NPC to another to do quests......Became a major league borefest after level 35. 3. DDO - was very disappointed, this game was good in theory only |

I would say taht WAR is more a victim of its design choices than a victim of its success....... |

I was under the impression that the game was going more towards the RVR type battlegrounds like DAoC than it was the scenario type BGs like in WOW.......I almost think the scenarios were put in as an attempt to lure away WoW players because they would be more familiar with that than with open world RVR......I still think long term the game needs to get away from the scenarios and go towards open world RVR.......I think people will get bored more quickly wioth scenarios, especially if they have been grinding them out in WOW, than if they were moving around the world storming keeps and stuff. |

Would a 3rd (playable) faction make WoW more interesting?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 10/14/08 5:17:42 PM
Do you guys think adding a 3rd faction of races, lets say races that both the alliance and Horde hate, would make WoW a little more interesting?? Maybe races like Murlocks, Ogres, Quillboar, Dark Iron Dwarves, Giants, etc etc etc?? Dont you guys think the battlegrounds would be more interesting if a 3rd faction was involved?? |

Blizzard's 'next-gen MMOG' to heat up consoles?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/14/08 9:55:19 AM
While I am a PC gamer I can see why companies might start leaning towards console MMOs...... It would be much easier to make games geared toward consoles because then you dont have to worry about every single players' rig and lose alot of them because they cant run your game....Once they figure out the work around for keyboards I'd bet we start seeing alot more MMOs on consoles. |

LoTRO didnt really feel any different to me than EQ2 or WoW did....They all basically felt like the same game in a different setting.......I had fun in LoTRO for about a month then couldnt stand logging in anymore...... Once I got my mount I seemed to really lose interest (like that was my main goal or something)......I think I just hit the wall because of all the quests and all the running/travel....... |

The problem with Ryzom as of now: Crappy community
General Discussion « Ryzom 10/12/08 11:09:55 PM
There is little doubt taht one of the biggest weaknesses of ryzom is the lack of a universal chat for players to just shoot the breeze.......I too was a little put off by the universal chat police that would butt into every single topic to remind people that Universal was for Ryzom Q&A only.....Sorry but alot of us enjoying chatting in MMOs and it is one of the main reasons why some of us play........The topic has come up hundreds of times in chat so obviously it is important to many people.....The problem is that too many of the veteran players give the appearance that they just want all the new players to go away so they can have things the way they want them.......Overall the community is very good, often very helpful and well informed, but a little too critical of newer players trying to learn the game and have fun. |

Well if someone asks "what do you think of Warhammer" dont you think people that have played it should give their opinions?? I mean if everyone just says "this is the greatest game ever" and people come here wondering if they might like Warhammer then they arent getting a totally accurate picture....... If a player says I like this, this, and this but not that, that, or that then it is more helpful.........Some players have an agenda msot likely but I would imagine in general that players try to offer their views and experiences......We dont all see the world the same way. |

WoW Player Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/11/08 6:19:55 PM
Really this guy is exhibit A with what is wrong with MMOs today.....They were originally created for people to play together not by yourself x36.......Im sure he is probably selling accounts, I cant possibly see why anyone would pay 5400 dollars a year to play a video game........ |
|

Im always suspicious of these gaming companies that hand out ratings......They get too many perks to view them objectively......How many games does IGN give a 1.0? |

After 3 years of waiting, all I can say is...
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/11/08 4:00:43 PM
it almost sounds like the newer games are taking the "casual" approach a little too far........ |

Id have to say mcDonalds because they used to brag so much about how many hamburgers they had served (like bliz brags about how many subs it has)........ |
