RoM is an OK game but nothing special really...it doesnt really bring anything new to the genre, but basically just takes what wow did and continued along the same lines.....While it does offer some cvariety (dual classes for instance) it is basically still just quest, quest quest till your brains fall out......I think it is an Ok alternative if you like games like WoW and dont want to pay but as far as a permanent I dont think so.

The problem with TCos is that it is an extremely boring experience for the noobie....The tutorial is about the worst I've seen and the beginning world is just "kill 10 boars/bears/wolves" rinse and repeat quests.......WHile the graphics are solid there is little else to give players incentive to stay.

I dont know how many LoTRO has left at this point....I quit a little after AoC and WAr came out and alot of players left LoTRO for those games.....Now how many came back later or once MoM was released is hard to say.......I always heard that the game had tons of players but I never saw it and I had main characters on brandywine and was in one of the biggest kins on that server......If I had to make a guess i'd sya it has 200-300k players overall......They would have alot more servers if there was more than that.......

Anarchy Online is a good choice if you want challenge.....The basic game is free and it costs money if you want expansions (tho the free game is often good enough for most of us)......it has a fairly high learning curve but if you like character development its about as good as it gets for that.......Its only downfall is it has outdated graphics but if that doesnt bother you then its a great game.....Other than that I'd recommend Atlantica for the free league PVP......

LOL yeah it almost feels like the review was written for <insert any MMO here>.......WHile the reviewer may have played the game somewhat there is alot missing from the review and alot of it is inaccurate.......... AO is a solid older game that is fairly challenging and has a high learning curve......If you can live with the graphics (mainly the awful character models) then it may very well be a nice game for you.......The character development is second to none and implants, perks, and other goodies make the game alot of fun to play around with.....If character development is your thing then AO could be a solid choice.

EQ do have too many expansions. There is just a logical limit too how much you can add to a game.

In SOE case they can either continue what they are doing or totaly remake the game from scratch. It will happen to all MMOs sooner or later but in EQs case it went faster than most games since it have so many expansions.

Yes it will be interesting to see what the all mighty WoW looks like when it starts to get up towards 15 or so in expansions....There are already people complaining about it and it only has 2 expansions so far......

I dont think many think this game is the savior of the genre, but it is going to be way overhyped because of its IP........ As for it being extremely solo friendly does that shock anyone anymore??...... 90 percent of the MMos coming out anymore are single player coops......

Its a tough call but I think they would most likely fail long term.....There are several games that have classic private servers and most of them do not have very many players.......I think alot of people like the nostalgia of the games they played but for them to go back and play that game now would most likely be short lived......You could still play games like EQ in nothing but the old areas but players choose not to......No one forces them to go to PoK, Luclin, or whatever expansion it is they claim ruined the game for them.........I think now in 2009 the majority have moved on from their early roots and accepted that things are different now.........

LOl yet another "look how many players this game has" post when you know it doesnt have 1/10th that many players....... Kinda like the one game on here that claims it has 200 million registered accounts and there are 4 threads in its entire forum...... THese companies are always going to stetch the truth about how many accounts/subs they have.....The more it sounds like they have the more interested some people become in the game......Its kinda like eating at McDonalds...... People dont eat there because the food is so outstanding, they eat there because alot of other people eat there.........

So you guys that are voting no RMT ever are you then saying you are willing to pay 15 dollars a month for every single MMO??....You do realize about 90 percent of these games will never make it with that payment structure right??

It only took how many months to find one good rating for this piece of garbage game?? lol......They probably gave Hello Kitty Online a 12.5 though.........

EQ3 imo

EQ3 = EQ1 + better graphics and all servers are PvP like Sullon Zek

Why would anyone make a MMO that few wants to play? Just the horrible mob grind and down time will scare away most of the customers.

Not necessarily.......People play MMOs for different reasons.....You are just assuming everyone wants to get to end game quickly and that is not always the case...... When I first started playing EQ in 2000 many of the players I met were in no hurry at all......Most of them enjoyed the social aspect of the game as much as the leveling....i met several that had no interest at all in ever reaching max level........For too many MMo players now the games are all geared to reach end game quickly.....Its kinda like wanting to reach adulthood and not enjoying your childhood......I think there are quite a few of us that would like to see EQ3 only if it is reminiscent of EQ1 in its glory days (99-02 or so) and is nothing like what EQ2 turned out to be (WoW wannabe)......

Of all the MMO's I played, I think DDO's failure has been the most suprising.  My recollection of launch was that it had like 300K people.  The limited release content drove some people away.  The nerf cycle also carved away huge chunks of people.  And the non-existent game updates also killed off a large segment of players.  Had Turbine use a little more foresight, maybe they could have saved some of those subscriptions (most telling: Human Versitility giving a +5 to skill points was overpowered, but shroud items that gave a stackable +6 were just fine)

Current estimates of the number of active subscriptions is like 40K in the North American Servers, although Sarlona appeared to have less than 1,000 people on each night in prime time.  The game had such potential, too.  The combat system is unique and addictive and with a good graphics card, the game is visually stunning.  I suspect free to play won't work well in DDO because much of the challenge is limited resources in dungeons, and unlimited resources will kill the challenge.

It peaked at around 90k or so actually , according to MMORPG charts........Shortly after launch it went down to about 50k....... I didnt see any numbers for 2009 but I'd guess they are below 25k at this point.........

If you cant afford $60 bucks you are probably not old enough for the game. But noone really knows how much the game will cost yet.

No, what is smelling here ... is you ... you are probably afraid of not getting a key.

Maybe he is smart enough not to jsut hand over 60 bucks for any game that releases, unlike many in the forum that will blindly buy anything.........

For those who enjoy a solo gaming experience, no, it will not hurt TOR. (and they are the majority it seems)

Of course, for those looking for a more group oriented gaming experience, it will ruin it for them.

Nothing different than most modern games really, and no one said solo gameplay can't be fun.

It sounds like they are choosing a similar path to WoW where the players can solo or group as they please.....

Maybe its time to just put an end to the whole beauty pageant fiasco........Why are people like Donald Trump involved anyway?? Has it just turned into that big of a joke??

I just never felt that UO was all that much fun myself........I thiunk some players enjoyed the fear factor that was in the game but the graphics were so bad and the gankfest community was a big turn off.......I tried UO when it first came out and hated it...... Thank goodness EQ came along or  i probably never would have got into online gaming.

The korean version of Aion seems like it's almost a rip-off because we have to pay to play such an unrefined game full of glitches and bugs, that only the few find and take advantage of before being reported and patched.  Fortunately for you guys in NA, it will be alot different.  Rumor has it, all the koreans think NCsoft is taking the koreans like test subjects to make profit and refine the game for foreign launches.  (I get this impression alot nowadays).

As someone from North America, all I can say about this comment is...

WOOT! :)

(and sorry)

I thought they targettted Asia first because it is a much better market to sell in and they already have other games established there.......I dont think they wanted to use the Koreans as test subjects but that the market was simply much greater there......I seriously doubt they get anywhere near 3 million in NA/EU combined.......

First one that comes to mind is perfect world max level is 120 just to give an idea from level 100-101 the tnl is basicly what it took you to go from 1-100 or so thats what im told , no intention of finding out.

Anyone that can hit 120 in PWI should get gamer of the year award.....Not only is it hard to get that high but the boredom factor is insane.......
