IMHO performance is still not in acceptable levels.wont be a sideshow in some cases but your FPS will be in teens.

Teens? Better than what I had with 5 FPS :O

After playing T4 for months. I said wait a few more patches especially for those 4 cities. This game has potential but it is great fun. The community is different for each server. When you get into the community and the guild rivalry, this game truly springs. I took 3 or 4 days off and am resub-ing. Can't wait to be back. No matter if my server so far is getting owned by 150 people or so in ORvR and we are outnumbered but it's all about getting active.

If you want to play this game, do. If you love WoW and Raiding for the same gear over and over again with no purpose or teamwork on a large scale (like 100's of people). Yes i'm biased but it's only because WoW is dead for me. Each expansion drives old players away but with all the hype, new players come.

Closing WAR would be the worst thing in the world for those who left WoW especially for this game. AoC is too buggy and unfinished (or so I heard can't judge it) and Darkfall is too grindy. WAR is for me with RvR on large scale, on 6 mans or 12 mans, on guild WBs, and the PvE which can be comparible to Raids in WoW but not as fun and more easier (especially Bastion Stairs, Sigmars Crypts, and Warpblades for Order) LV is more challenging and half of you don't know what i'm talking about so I'll just shut up

I've been playing MMO's (and muds) before them going back 12+ years now. Yet lately I find myself never touching my gaming rig these days. In fact I have not been subscribed to an mmo going on 3 months now, the longest drought I've ever gone.

The reason for the lack of interest, frankly I'm tired of settling for a game missing several features I desire in my gamplay.

for starters, I want a virtual world. I have played linear theme park ride games (even enjoyed some briefly) but they arent for me. Virtual worlds begin with making a home for my avatar. For some reason this key feature to MMO's is being left out of development nowadays. And if it is added, its some lame instance or seperate zone. I want my house in the actual virtual game world for all to see. Player cities will develop (whether actually designed as a game feature or not) with real housing. And from player cities comes a virtual world. Please note, a house isnt just a place to store extra gear or potions.

I want a game NOT 100% focused on combat. Crafting should be a class of its own, not some secondary skill anyone can do. If I choose to become a chef, I cant also be a warlock or bounty hunter. That also means not giving players 5 toons per server, this means no alts to allow players to become totally self-sufficient.

absolutely no level system. Its flawed on so many levels (most of which players arent even aware of). A level based system uses a damage multiplier, briefly what this means is gear and skill are actually rather meaningless. A bad lvl 80 warlock player will 99.99% of the time always kill lower level mobs and vice versa die to a higher lvl mob because of the DM. All gear and skill does is determine how fast you kill or get killed by a mob. Level systems are in essence a big fat illusion

Dont get me wrong, linear games like World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings can be fun. But they are ultimately just a game you can beat. Once the quests and raids are complete, its game over until the next expansion or patch comes. I'm tired of watching my gear become useless in 2 months and having to start over.

I'm tired of doing quests because I need xp. Whatever happened to doing quests for a nice decorative item to place in your house. How about just to have created a grateful NPC that simply smiles or greets / treats you differently when you walk by because you helped them ? Questing has become all about killing things or delivering things (which usually means killing something along the way) for more XP. And how about some kidden quests, rare spawn quests, quests only available at certain times, that dont have some idiot-proof mark to indicate "hey you a quest is here"

I'm not looking for a Second Life type of game either. I dont want to see currency to credit/gold conversions and no combat system. Im not interested in any fps gankfest like darkfall or a space sim where my avatar is just a ship (eve). And Im not going to play SWG because frankly I dont trust SOE.

The only few virtual world games I see coming are fps so theyre automatically off my radar. fps means physical skills come into play thus negating gear really. You cant kill a much weaker new player even if your rifle is amazing if you cant line up those stupid crosshairs. So for me Fallen Earth and I believe Earthrise are also out. My only hope right now is Star Trek Online but lets face it, cryptic isnt exactly known for making complex virtual world.

So for now, and maybe forever this longtime cowboy has said goodbye to the MMO genre. I've stopped sleuthing for leaks about games in development, Im not even the slightest interested in turning on my gaming rig anymore. Maybe turning 40 has something to do with it but you wont see me in any lines for midnight launches until someone makes something worthwhile.

And we need to know this why?

I think I cried when I saw it the first time...it was beautiful. The gameplay looks sweet. the UI i don't care about as I do about the missions and the gamestyle which looks like exactly what I want.

So after years of not playing the beast known as WoW, (I played for about 4- 5 months at launch) I was recently convinced by a few co-workers to give it another go.

Let's just say I was wrong.

I originally left the game because the community was becoming gawd awful.  The game itself was actually pretty damn good.  But the players...  So loving immature...  Since then I had been bouncing around between many, many mmo's, both free and p2p.

So after hours of my fellow employees touting the merits of the game, and me bashing it, I decided that I would shut them up by downloading the trial and at least trying it again.  I'm glad I did.  Blizz has done a great job of of polishing this game up.  The community has actually seemed to mature with the game as well.  Given, when you have 11 million people playing together you are bound to run into a few jackasses, but for the VAAAAAASST majority the players have been really cool and fun to play with.

Also, there is sooooooo much new content.  Almost too much.  But that is in no way a bad thing.

So, if you're a former player like me that left and hated on the game for a while, I'd say at least give it a try.  Do yourself a favor.  If you don't, you'll be missing out on a highly polished and all around great experience.

Once again, I humbly bow and ask forgiveness for my sins..  = P

And if anyone wants to play  -  Slowbeef - Tauren Warrior on Cairne  (low lvl...  literally rolled about 10 mins ago)

I will give you about 2 months after you level cap.

You will probably hate the boring grind of everything in the game or how easy it is to get things now. With 11.5 mil rumored subs which many think is false. Blizzard needs to keep 'em happy so here's "FREE LOOTZ!!!"

I got to 70 3 weeks during BC and won't pay $40 and then another $15 to play a gay game that will take a week to finish.

As far as i'm concerned...there is no end-game content in this game. There is only endless boring grinding. I won't stop you from playing the game but for the record...when you quit, you can look back at this post.

What really sells Black Prophecy for me is the graphics. This game looks absolutely incredible! The giant asteroid fields, space stations planets, and the ships, it is all pretty.  A low level player should be able to take on a high level player, and win if he is very good and very lucky.

I agree on both of your points of the game looking awesome and that a low level player should be able to beat a high level player " not level one vs max level of course" but if its like level 20 against 30 (just putting numbers) then they are very lucky and probably skilled.

Many people do look at any upcoming sci-fi MMOs vs EvE because of it's successes. I for one personally think that BP will require more skill and less grinding for atleast the levels vs skills in EvE and BP.

I don't worry about the crafting too much and hope they spend more time on the missions to make them "next generation" and the massive battles. The graphics look incredible and way better than some of the sci-fi MMO's i've seen. I thought EvE's graphics looked awesome and compared to this...BP totally wins.

I hope this game can become very sucessful and will probably be a more "World-wide MMO" like Freelancer's Multiplayer was where Russians, Germans, British, Americans, Japanese, Chinese, Australians, and so many more played a game that had so much popularity.

I look at Russian and American fan site boards and it seems they mention Freelancer alot.

To those who don't know Freelancer, it's an old sci-fi RPG which was great with great lore and story. I always tried to find a MMO that was alot like it and hope Black Prophecy is the answer. It has the potential to be great and I hope it will be.

Thank you for reading.

whats up screamer, yeah just saw the hd trailer, it looks insane, the scale is awesome just what i wanted, and i think i saw a giant ship to ship collision!

Good...im not the only one. Doubt it will be in-game though. Possible but doubtful.

I do hope though that this cinematic trailer is in-game

I would take it that Missions will be the main way to get expirience and possilbe money. With this i believe that you could upgrade your ship and such. Unfortunately we don't know much yet about this game except on the few screenshots and the two videos we were given.

I really do hope that they don't borrow the missions of games like EvE or Freelancer which are "get to point A and kill targets X and Y"

I do hope and based on the descriptions hope that they make missions more stronger and have more than one assignment. For example, instead of the "get to point A and kill targets X and Y"... the few missions would be more like the Campaign of Freelancer in which you "get to point A with two other pilots (npc or player) and kill target X", then "get to point B and intercept shipments", finally "get to point C and deliver the shipments to station Y"

I do have high expectations for this game and it greatly looks like a Freelancer MMO which in reality i hope it is with maybe a different lore or story but has the skill in it unlike the grind-fest of EvE and they "get a good ship and get good missles and auto fight".

First!

I know some of may not agree with me, but this is my opinion.

Why can't WAR be like...err WAR? Why keep comparing the two games and play your game...that's what i'm doing and that's what I am going to do.

Thank you,

You guys totaly amuse me. Show me a game that is not a copy of the previous one in MMORPG genre. I only have played Eve online as being different, and if what I have heard about Ultima Online are true, it is also unqiue. All others are copies of each other with some different additional ideas/implementations.

Go back to WoW and enjoy it

EvE is like a total rip off Freelancer but a MMO. But the combat of EvE is nothing to Freelancer (which is not an MMO but had multiplayer). And Freelancer borrowed from Star Wars or some shit like that...I dunno.

hi,

i got a questions, ive been not playing this game for a while(been only lvl 16-17)

is it worth coming back?

Its a great time to come right now because many people are rolling the new classes and will try to level with you. You can expect great Orvr in T2-T3 and T1 right now for a while as people level up.

KingsIsle hasn't released subscription numbers (kind of like Mythic, come to think of it), though even that might not give the proper picture.

Mythic did release subscription numbers (or EA i think) and said that about 250,000 people are subscribed to the game. I can imagine there are more than that now since the game has seen alot of action and many people who haven't played in over a month returned to see the first Fort take and City siege my server ever had.

Patch 1.2 really changed the game and i hope 1.3 can come close if not beat it in bug fixes, quality, and gameplay.

As many of you guys know, AoC didn't have a great launch. More like a Payed Beta most would say.

Now if you read enough of this recent interview you can find little things that will be happening to the game in a short time.

Jonric: Why haven't you offered a free trial to attract new players? And what about getting those who left to try the game again? Is this a lost cause?

Craig Morrison: Free trial marketing will be coming soon. We wanted to address the key areas of concern from launch before we began a major campaign of this type. Now that we've started to see a positive trend in players' reactions, we're nearing the point where we feel we'll get better results from such a program. Likewise, we'll be doing re-evaluation offers for previous subscribers. It's certainly not a lost cause. I wouldn't have taken this position and be pushing the team to deliver new game updates if I didn't think we had a good chance of success.

Sweet...the more MMO's out there for me to play, the better. The last thing i want is any MMO out there to completely deminish and be sent to the recycle bin.

Ok I must be missing something here.  I have been trying to by the game for 4 days now.  I know they are having all these server issues and billing issues or whatever but the "Temporarily sold out" message is getting old.  Sold out of what?  We know it isn't copies because the client is downloaded.  So what are they sold out of that prevents me from making my order?

If I can't by this game before the weekend is over...I won't ever buy it.  :/

You, and every single other person who reads this post.. knows you will buy the game regardless. So dont bother expressing your frustration with messages like "if i cant buy this game before weekend is over.. i wont ever buy it:/" because the dev team arent listening to your posts, and the players here dont give a shit if you buy it or not. Not to mention there are about 1000 other threads of people expressing their anger in childish forms.. its getting old, repedative, pointless.. and shows 1 thing - u have nothing better to do except wait for this game, so the only person you should be angry at is youself.

Totally agree on this post...except "the only person you should be angry at is youself." It is also partly because of the company and everyone knows this...it happens with every game, every company and it's a process of error and fix.

What thread # is this for you?

Glad to see some of you guys are not giving up the fight against DF!  Fight the good fight!

(or stop wasting your life and find a mmo you enjoy and post there)

After the Great Dark and Light massacre of 06, I vowed to fight any game that had even the slightest stench of that game.

not even close

Proof?

im in beta i tried dark and light when it became free not even close

In my humble opinion, if Darkfall was a pile of shit, you would say "It's the greatest pile of shit in the world".

I have never in my life seen anyone so overzealous in supporting a video game. Well, there was one guy on the AoC official forums, don't remember what happened to him though. Anyway.

There are a few of you on this forum but you guys share the same traits with the guy from AoC's forums. You will attempt to play down and defend any critique aimed towards your chosen game, no matter how true the critique is.

Please don't take it as a personal insult because it isn't. I'm just amazed with how much faith you and a few others have in Darkfall and Aventurine.

Let them defend  their game. I say...don't say shit unless you played it and don't say it will beat WoW until it has 3 million subs. The end of WoW is about 2 years away i believe...not sure but it will probably be Blizzard itself that destroys WoW with their new MMO or it will fail like other MMO's in this Post - WoW business

Im happy their nerfing WE's...even though WH  take a smaller hit though

Not to happy with the over nerf on the WL fetch and hope they change it on live maybe to 100ft from the previous 150 or 65 in the PN.

7/10

Easy to defend in T2 maybe because classes are not that strong in T2 vs a Keep Lord and  Oil doesn't do anything because ones the 2 gates are broken (or 1 in T2) then its easy access to the Keep lord and any resistance will get smoked by the WB.
