Knight Online, though I think the game is ruined, you may like it. If you're not opposed to using a cash shop.

All MMORPGs involve at least a little skill, so this statement is a little odd. The skill depth of the average MMORPG might not be incredibly deep, but it's not like you're watching combat unfold - you're interacting with the game and participating, and failure to hit the right button at the right time will result in failure.

Pressing tab, and memerising a set of button presses doesn't take 'skill' imo, but that's just my own definintion of skill.

I agree sanders01.

I like my MMO PvP to be about dice rolls and a bit of random chance involved in that and thus I like gear and numerical progression systems...

But I also like my skill to matter so as long as the differences in gear/level aren't too great I still have a good chance to win if I am better then the other player.

Still though, this poll is for a "purist" perspective.

i.e. if you think gear should matter at all, even just a little, choose the gear/level option. If you hate dependancy on gear and think it should be TOTALLY 100% about skill/tactics then choose that option.

Yea, I ended up choosing the gear option, since I do prefer it, but in the end it doesn't make or break a game for me.

I'd only do it if all the content altered itself dynamically to the size and class composition of my group.

So we could raid everything with only a couple of players. That would still be fun, as the game would alter the difficulty to perfectly suit out little group and offer enough challenge to justify the reward.

Doing everything solo would be extremely boring and no more then a grind.

I dunno, I may be in the minority but doing things with other players and friends is why I play MMORPGs.

Did this during BC when me and my freinds weren't raiding TBC content. Tried to 3-4 man LBRS, UBRS, MC, etc. most of the old raids, though we failed most of the time, it was nonetheless one of the funnest things i've ever done in a game.

I don"t really see the point of an NDA in a beta with users from outside the company.

I perfectly understand an NDA when it comes to internal beta testing or beta testing by employees and family for example.

But with a public beta, the info get's leaked anyway.

Some NDAs are just ridiculous, such as you cant even get on VOIP without breaching the NDA.

If we're comparing content, Soloers have way more content than Groupers, that's what I was trying to point out. (I use groupers because of lack for a better word)

I understood what you were saying, the problem is end game solo content. Lets forget about raid level gear here for a minute. A soloer can do the party dungeons in a very short amount of time and get fully geared. Then what do they get to do? They generally add in a lot more raid content.

You can go level a new character, but that is just the same stuff over and over. Yes these are mmo's, and they want people to do things together. Expecting everyone to do things with 20+ people is another matter.

No, I don't think soloers should get the same gear as raiders, but I think they should should be able to upgrade their gear as much as a raider.

It's strange though, what is a soloer going to do with better gear? Unless they add more content for him in the patches and expansions, such as a 1:1 ratio of raid dungeon to solo dungeon to group dungeon. That wouled be ideal. And scale the gear enough to say if a soloer wanted to start raiding, he would have to gear up in the group dungeons first, but people could jump right in to group dungeons with entry level gear from quest/drops/AH.

I will agree both soloers and small groups lack gear progression when compared to raids.

Err.

Paying customers always "deserve" satisfactionary gameplay.

This right here is the problem. Games who focus on raid content generally do not add in as much "end-game" solo content. The solo player runs out of things to do a lot faster.

I don't think the issue is with soloer wanting the same level gear as a raider, but they want a little more content.

Good thing they have 1-x0 level to solo.

I wouldn't play on it, since I liked the grouping/Raid aspect of WoW.

I played warhammer fine on low-med settings with my AMD Athlon 64 single core, 1.8gigs of ram, and some shotty ATI graphics card. I think you will do fine.

 K2Network, dont touch it :/

Sadly I have to agree, they even ruined one of my favorite RPG's Knight Online, and they let the hackers run free on WarRock aswell. This company gets an F for Free-hack-Filled-games...

D: Knight Online was one of my favorites as well.

Ghostbusters believe in the force? lolwut??

 K2Network, dont touch it :/

Love a Rogue/Druid type class, like WoW Rogue/Druid. Love the versitility of being able to tank, heal, or dps if I want to, like with a WoW druid, and just love the stealth aspect of games.

Does the OP believe everything he reads from a developer?? i mean what developer on this planet would tell you truth when in marketing mode?they 100% of the time ALWAYS hype up their game and tell the people what they want to hear,it is always marketing BS.

This SC2 is actually the same over the head view garbage they do with Diablo and the overall quality of the engine is horrible. They are doing there usual rehash of old ideas and old game engines and trying to convince the dummies out there, they are getting something new and unique, neither is true.

If Blizzard wa so sure of their ability and their game, they would have made SC2 years ago and not canceled it at least once, probably twice.I mean the SC:Ghost was already being made, and they purchased that company,so why did it disband? They only got brave enough, once the cash rolled in from WOW,to even consider a rehash of the older SC.If anyone of sane mind thinks WOW was HARDCORE,,rflmao, they need to give their head a shake,WOW is anything but,it was designed for the younger immature crowd.Blizzard actually designs their games for the EXACT opposite of what they are claiming, very funny how pathetic their marketing ploys are,yet even more amazing is how many buy into their BS.

There is no longer 10 million brand new clueless gamers clammouring to get into the MMO crave,Blizzard must now try their marketing BS on more intelligent gamers and have a MUCH smaller crowd to try and fool.Their cheap designs, cheap game engines ,have very little chance of fooling people ever again.Once the masses leave WOW,Blizzard will once again be a struggling entity amongst the gaming community. There is always a very young crowd looking for simplistic, cheap games like Diablo, but there is far too many choices for that age group ,to hope Blizzard can lock them all up under their wing.Besides that Diablo type games are now old school,we have moved beyond that phase.

Good thing they enticed Activision to partnership, they will need them down the road.If the rumors were correct about WOW's cost, then they must have a VERY inept loose ship for spending money, that game should have cost them VERY little to develope. They had the know how from former SOE staff, they had the template to copy[EQ],all they had to do is roll with it.

The same will happen with SC2,they already have the template or game,i am sure you will be getting the left overs already designed by the developer Blizzard bought out  the rights to SC:Ghost.Blizzard will be trying to sell the public a rehashed older game as something new..bah.

Sounds like a hate with no evidence. As for SC2 being 'rehased', why fix something that isn't broken?

Never had one post on a certain MMO's board and I got into Closed beta. My gaming machine is crap, I haven't tested many other games.

Actually, I think many "real" mmorpg gamers are playing and enjoying World of Warcraft.

0 substance? Lets look at the facts:

All of World of Warcraft's expansion packs + the original game have a metacritic score of over 90%.

There is actually plenty of substance in World of Warcraft.

I have to applaud you for actually providing info other then how many subs they have. I am tired of that argument lol. I do not however consider this info very accurate. They took 57 peoples opinions of the game. Thats hardly enough to say the game deserves that rating.

I am willing to bet 10% of the subs in WoW are just playing for something to do, not because they actually enjoy the game.

Though you have to admit, they did enjoy the game at one time, or else they wouldn't still be playing it.

Runescape/Puzzle Pirates are the ones that come to mind.
