About the same interest for me I suppose maybe lower.

I dont mind action combat but it is not my preference.

The graphics looks fine to me outside of the lion head.. smh.

Many features sound nice.

BUT 8 abilities 4 set in stone via weapon choice and only 4 class abilities just isnt what I wanted to hear. Go ahead and keep 4 weapon abilities but make sure they fit in with the class that is using it.. No melee abilities for a wand / staff for example and an element to decide what abilities are present for the weapon ( Fire Arrow , Fire Ball.ect. ). And IMO there needs to be more than 4 class abilities for even more builds.. I am thinking at least 8 - 10 class abilities AND 4 FLUFF abilities ( levitate , shapeshift , wizard eye..ect. )..

No, the 4 weapons skills are based on your current class and what weapon you're using.

That isnt what I asked.

It doesnt matter. Having the same 4 skills on a weapon type is bad design. Not being able to unlock more skills to switch out the more you use a weapon or by visiting a trainer just isnt going to work long term. And switching out class abilities for the other 4 isnt going to make up for it.

Why should someone with 6 months experience have the same sword skills as someone with 1 months experience? I want more information on such a critical issue with character growth. 

I dont care about 4 skills , 8 skills , 12 skill slots or ever how many there will be. I want 100s of skills to chose from including weapon skills so I can have my own build and not just another copy of someone else outside of mixing and matching class abilities.

GW2 only has 8 classes though. And Arenanet hasn't been planning on adding any new classes.
EQN says it's gonna have 40 classes and keep adding new classes.
If for example one wanted to play a necromancer, then I seriously doubt there will be 1 undead summoner class and 39+ classes that can't do that.

If there are many skills for each weapon that I can chose from / find / train then ok. But if it is like GW2 then it is terrible.

Looks good to me.

I think it was Paul or (one of the devs who were playing ) who said something like " Looks like the healer died " so it looks like there will be a spec built around healing which would be great.

The game isnt due out till next year so hopefully it will end up even better.

If EQN has combat with many many many abilities and I can use any 8 that I want then I will be less put off. However if it is like like GW2 where you learn all of your main abilities by level 10 then I be very disappointed.

No. This is happening at QuakeCon I think so it isnt like they picked the same date. Both things just happen at the same time.

I am looking forward to it since it is supposed to be never before seen.. I am thinking its going to be Cyrodil and PvP.. I also hope there will be some PvE action too.

I think the opposite.. If MMOs went back to having a steeper leveling curve then most players wouldnt burn through all the available content in a month and will stick around longer. Where if you level fast and everyone burns through all the content then many people get bored and move on because devs cant make enough content to keep players busy. And so many of the players that want fast progression are likely to jump ship for the next new thing anyway so trying to keep them is a losing battle.

Steeper leveling curves please.

I think I would choose how players harvest in Vanguard and put it in EQN. Any player can harvest any type of node with the right amount of skill and harvest tool. The ability to group harvest is just plain fun and it adds some community aspect to an otherwise boring thing to do.

No.. Even lighting and texture mods would lead to exploits and cheating. That is why mods on the scale of a single player game will never happen in an MMO. Ever.

Same for me. Loved Morrowind, had great loads of fun in Skyrim. Played the beta 2 weekends ago and will not be paying for the game.   As an MMO, it has its good and bad points. As an Elder Scrolls game, it misses way more than it hits.

Well to be fair, I heard each of the betas where vastly different with many changes. I suppose that is why they are trying to prevent leaks. What they try in the beta may not even be in the finished product.

 

Course, it really also depends on what one likes in their games. I agree with you, I also am looking for a game that brings back the RPG in MMORPG. However, my expectations are not too high, and even if ESO isn't that game, it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it.

The problem I find is everyone is acting like ESO is going to be a bad game, but that is only because they are comparing it to their own expectations of what they want it to be. I already realized the game may not be exactly like the elder scrolls I am used to, but that doesn't mean I need to be a negative grumpy person to everyone about it which seems to be the thing here to do. That also will not automatically make it a bad game either.

The other thing people need to realize is that an opinion is an opinion. As you said it works on both sides. No one can possible win an argument like this, however, a person CAN be mature enough to know when their opinion isn't needed any longer.

My conundrum with this game is that it could be a fun MMO. But do I support it knowing full well they are raping the series just for a buck?

 

When I think about what this MMO could have been and the direction they decided to take it, I am torn between supporting them and showing my disdain for them.

This is why I will not pay for the game. I may eventually play it, but I'll wait and hope TES VI does not go further down the Skyrim road.

Maybe but for me I do not see how they are doing the TES series a disservice with TESO. So many people think they should have made it exactly as the single player games but that would have made one mess of an MMO and others think that TES is a sandbox when it isnt. With each release the TES SP games have gotten simpler and simpler anyway and really do not resemble the series even from Morrowind and Morrowind from Arena!

 Did those arguing for proper TES First Person Combat wait for release to see if it was in game for themselves?  Did those arguing for the ability to visit and explore the opposing faction areas wait for release to see if it was in game for themselves?

Except in those cases we knew for a fact that there were no hands in first person and we knew we couldnt goto other faction lands. In this case there has been no concrete information about how many POIs that really are in the game. There have been reports both ways regarding it.

 Actually there are plenty of leaks if one was to look but the fact remains.  It is an integral part of the Elder Scrolls series and if rumors are to the contrary then I would hope people would address it, instead of blind fully obedient hoping it may or may not change.

You must have different sources than everyone else. I have seen all the leaks both video and write ups I believe and they are on both sides of the fence. You seem to have a hard stance on that there are hardly any POIs while I am right in the middle and am waiting on something more than just an hour demo speak and short leaks. 

Now if it turns out that there arent many POIs then I will be right there with you. Now I am not sure if I want as many POIs as are in say Skyrim with a bandit camp in a ruined keep a stones throw away from a guard tower which is a stones throw away from a ritual stone a stones throw away from a cave over and over again.. If there are less but more meaningful I would be ok with that..

Waiting on some information that takes place past level 8 isnt so much to ask is it?

Don't forget there's a public playable demo of ESO at the Bethesda booth at QuakeCon early next month. That should generate plenty of interesting videos and conversations.

 Did those arguing for proper TES First Person Combat wait for release to see if it was in game for themselves?  Did those arguing for the ability to visit and explore the opposing faction areas wait for release to see if it was in game for themselves?

Except in those cases we knew for a fact that there were no hands in first person and we knew we couldnt goto other faction lands. In this case there has been no concrete information about how many POIs that really are in the game. There have been reports both ways regarding it.

Blocking skills in GW2 are held down which is pretty similar to what ESO is doing.

 

They are both mostly single player games with the title MMO slapped on after the fact.

3. I have not read anywhere that players will scale to PvE content. I know I have read where players will scale when entering Cyrodil ( I can never remember! 1 L or 2? ). So I will need a link please.

Vanguard.. NO. Gear and craft killing items in the SCS and F2P users cannot use yellow tier items without buying item unlock items.

I did really like how in LoTRO the achievements were tied to upgrading your skills and giving you small character upgrades.  It wasn't so powerful that you sucked if you hadn't killed 5000 ogres, but if you DID, you had a higher rank skill of some kind.  

 

I also like how you many games award unique titles for the achievements.   

 

So some combination of those two would be nice. 

I liked LoTRO deeds too but awhile ago I noticed more and more groups wanting people that had at least X rank deeds before they would even let a person into a group. Sad what that game has turned into.

I remember in DAoC players would park their buff bots in a keep in perfect safety and go out.. Now that gave them a huge advantage over other players that did not have a buff bot that were out solo in the frontier / BGs. After I stopped playing I read that they eventually added a max distance on buffs before they would drop but it took them forever and forever to do that...

whats different about the ARPG and mmo loot and gear system?, correct me if this is wrong but ive heard many people saying Diablo 3 had a gear grind threadmill like wow. And D3 is ARPG.

It is a different kind of treadmill/grind in that everything is random and much more enjoyable ( to me ). Not do X dungeon / boss / raid 1000000x looking for the exact same item in name and stats that everyone else has.

I think MMOs need to go back to using the ARPG way of loot and gear.. Didnt AC and AO do that? I didnt play either of those much to recall for sure.
