At this point now that we know the facts about the preorder and deluxe edition perks, which include access to more races with bonuses, faster mounts, and more, anyone who thinks this game won't launch (or add shortly after launch) a cash-shop selling cosmetic AND non-cosmetic goods is simply naïve.

Box sales made companies lots of money.  Subscriptions every month made them more.   F2P/P2W cash shops made them even more than that.  But now they have realized, why not have box sales, subscriptions, AND a F2P/P2W cash shop, all three at the same time?!   Welcome to MMO's in 2014.  Massive Money Obtainers

The Imperial with passives something all the races have.

Faster mounts? Where did you pull this from? Sheesh

And more? You mean allowing players access to the imperial crafting style right off instead of learning it in game? Or the cosmetic item to make your armor look of imperial make? Or the vanity pets? So game breaking those are!

The only thing that could be in the " shop " would be the explorers pack and the imperial unlock ( probably ) for those that missed / did not preorder. And that would be their fault since Zenimax is giving the first for free for just preordering and the latter in the CE.

The sky isnt falling no matter how much you scream for it to be so.

" If anything they have provided a laurel leaf to the Elder Scrolls players that were upset about faction locks. Does this seem counter intuitive to the stance they took on faction locks originally? A little"

No. What it did was prove that everything they said about why they used the base game design was a complete and total lie.

Most TES fans that got upset about the game was WHY ISNT IT OPEN WORLD like TES games? We were told they HAD TO make it this way for realm pride and because MMOs require sacrifices.

It was all BS, like most people said and they PROVED it. Its not a laurel, its a carrot on a stick to lead us away from the real issue, a poor game design that was just shown to be worthless made by people with no intention of making a TES game, just a DaoC remake.

No. It just means they heard what some people said and their dislike of the faction lock. And with a simple preorder they can now do what they wanted. The faction lock was originally there to keep one faction from being vastly more populated than the others.

The only controversy is coming from the people that have always bashed on TESO no matter what.. Now that they offer the option its " OMGZ what they said before was a LIE!111!!1! ".

But it was a lie.

If they were doing a service to everyone they wouldn't be locking content behind a pay gate or pre-order they would made all races playable by everyone.  I say content because each race is suppose to have their own skill line.

If it turns out that all races don't have their own skill line and its simply cosmetic its no big deal.  Otherwise its paying for extra content.

Races do not have their own skill line. They have passives but no skill line. The only skill lines comes from the guilds , weapons and base class.

[mod edit]. I really wanted the boxed CE but I decided I didnt need it even though the box and artbook would be amazing to have.

Edit : Mods.. You do realize saying you were in the beta is not breaking the NDA right? Straight from Zenimax. So get over it already.

The only backlash if from the few people here on these forums. Most major sites, got loads of pre-orders. Just a small vocal few on here starting all the drama.

Indeed. It mostly is the same few that have always complained about TESO.

I think the regular preorder bonus and the Imperial Edition bonus are probably the best perks I have seen for an MMO. Most of the time its junk that never get used unless its a mount.

The preorder perk of being able to play with any race in any faction is pretty great I think however I do believe that the explorers pack will also be available to upgrade to after launch. This is something many people wanted ( I didnt care one way or the other ) and now they can have it by simply preordering the game before release. This IMO was probably added when they saw feedback about the faction lock from some people.

The Imperial Edition perk of being able to play an Imperial is fine with me but I can see why some wouldnt like it.. But this is a perk for supporting the game. And the prices for both preorders will only be going up after all these vouchers expire.

Actually, pre-release starts on March 31st which is 2 months to the day.

You might want to recount.

Yeah, 2 months and 2 days. My bad.

Whoops. I had the 24th stuck in my head. I guess because Reaper of Souls comes out March 24th.

Honestly, I'm not sure where you're coming from on that.

Well, I currently have 975 hours in Skyrim [mod edit]

My preference is to head out into the world and find the numerous dungeons, mines, caves etc and explore them picking up all sorts of things, "some quests", stories/books (which I read), battling bandits, etc.

I highly doubt you are telling me that you can do the same in ESO . The same stuff. Also, it has been said in interviews that questing is the preferred method of leveling in ESO.

In any case, once the NDA drops I'd be more than happy to elaborate.

edit: there is a difference between heading out and finding all sorts of elaborate places and heading out to find "quest givers".

I agree the exploration isn't as much as the single player ES games, but it's still leagues beyond almost all the other mmo's I've played which is a lot.

Agreed. It will be so easy to debunk this stuff once the NDA drops.

I know what I know and I know I will forget about current quests.

I said a long time ago when this was brought up a long time ago that Sony themselves stated during the PS4 conference that any game requiring a sub fee would not have to also have PS+.. Many people ignored that bit and continued to bring it up.

MS on the other hand seem like they will be stubborn and leave it as is..

And there are many people out there with consoles that do not have PS+ or Live.. I know I didnt on the PS3 but do on the PS4. This can only boost TESO on PS4.

I think TESO will end up fairing very well in the end.

Games like Wildstar need to stop copy and pasting the graphics from the Warcraft games ( WC 3 and WoW ). I would be excited about Wildstar if it didnt look exactly like a game I have already played for years. Sure it may play differently but I am honestly tired of seeing it. Come up with your own style people.

EQ Next and EQ Landmark I think will do well for the building aspect for sure and if the other aspects of them are up to par could be really huge and be the next big thing.

16 Normal Dungeons and 16 Public Dungeons at launch, not bad, hope they are challenging.

But do all factions have the same set of dungeons?

He answers that in the q&a, he said that if you complete your factions dungeon of that level range you can then access the other factions dungeon of that level range

Yhm, but as i understood it, he said it will be the same dangeons. Just wanted to make sure i understood it correctly.

Each faction have their own dungeons.

I enjoy these types of games. Will definitely try it out.

Hmm, so I recognize the names, but I doubt they used any other known names for the voices.  Also none of them are in the overpaid bracket of celebrities, and I wonder how many "voice actors" will actually be the devs, the people from Bethesda, or their families reading lines.... that's what I would do to shore up the difference.... mostly because they are already on salary, they can take some time to speak into a mic.

There are also voice actors that work in anime. This isnt Bethesda where they pick people off the street or get a family member to voice act. There is an impressive cast outside of the known celebrities and they only highlighted them because they are playing the main story characters.

The yellow and red outlines are pretty cheezy (from the quakecon video). I know they are diablo-esque, but they just don't fit in elder scrolls.

they should use something more subtle or just turn it off. It really takes away from the graphics if you ask me.

There must be another way to do it so the whole screen isn't filled with red and yellow toxic waste monsters.

They said a long time ago that it was optional and could be turned off.  While playing I really didnt even notice it happening.

I can confirm what the dev said, the world is huge indeed

No it's not, it's an instanced zoning word, even within each faction area you are zoning between areas. You cannot go where you want within the world and to top it all it's made of many instances.

Vanguards world of Telon is huge not ESO lol.

Except Vanguard is also cut up into zones or in its case " chunks " and each time you cross one there is a pause for it to load. It is pretty quick being only a second or 2 though but it is still the same.

The world in TESO is huge.. It doesnt matter if there is a loading screen between each area. You can quickly lose hours of playtime by just roaming around in ES fashion in one of the early areas. In fact that is what happened to me.

And everything is made of pixels, lol. There is a difference between loading screens and seemless world where engine loads more data every so often. TES world is small in comparison to Vanguard's no matter how you will try to spin it, lol

Vanguard isnt seamless because it has the loading chunks. Seamless would be 100% no loading ever. In Vanguard the chunks are zone lines. Not seamless.

Your argument is senseless.

The fact is that every game including EQ2 still has chunks. The problem is that Vanguard used a engine that had to load a full chunk up front and not broken into very small pieces for background processing. Engines that are streaming are by your definition not seamless but yet I can show you that they are fully seamless to the limits of your hard drive. :)

SMH. Now the argument as changed about what seamless is. You lost. Get over it. Vanguard is not seamless.

No mention of bags at all

If you could find out for us how we can extend our inventory storage and bank storage, that would be most awesome!

As of right now you pay an NPC gold to increase your storage space.

Crafting is pretty nice.
