I dont even know why people backed this game.. He can afford to go into space so he should fund his own dang game.

Hey Sly, I'm just trying to be helpful.  Maybe we're talking about two different web pages?  Is that screenshot from

http://www.pantheonrotf.com/signup  ?

edit:  maybe a browser issue too.  That URL scrolls for me to show details.

No. That is the page after you login and click Subscribe as Kilsin suggested another poster to do. I am saying the info NEEDS to be right there. Not in a wiki or on a completely different website. End of story.

You just need to scroll down - the features per level are listed.  I do think a table/matrix would have been simpler though.

I dont and didnt see any features. If I did I wouldnt have posted what I did now would I?

Originally posted by jubbincake Is this game playable yet? I.E. early release or beta?
Hi Jubbincake, currently it is only available for internal testing with Dev builds but we plan on releasing an Alpha within 6-9 months, if you would like to be a part of that Alpha, there are pledge packages that contain the Alpha and Beta phases, you can find them on our development site under the subscription tab. Beta is planned for early 2016 with a full release to the public planned around 2017.
The subscribe link brings up a 403 page btw.

This is something that we have noticed recently and are working on but it only seems to happen if you have not joined and are logged in.

So if you want to create an account, log in and then navigate to the subscribe tab, you should not get this error.

Hopefully we will have this fixed soon! :)

May want to go back and list some more information on the subscription levels so people will know what gets them what.. Like alpha access or beta access or gametime after release. Looking at all of the levels listed and I really have no idea what they all mean. Should probably cut away tons of fat there too. Do you really need 19 different pledge levels ( counting the KS only eligible ones )?

This reminds me of those f2p FPS games where you can use game earned coin to rent more powerful weapons or use cash and buy them for good. Stupid stupid stupid.

I have played D3 since release and to me it is the best ARPG out there. I will wait and see before being firm on any thoughts about a cash shop since as of right now it is Asia only I think. However my thoughts right now follow.

They have mentioned:

Wings - Not a big deal. I would probably buy Tyraels wings since I missed out on those and they look awesome.

Pets that follow you around - Not a big deal. I view it as similar to the treasure goblin but the pet will do nothing.

EXP Potions - Doesnt bother me. There are those that already level up much faster than I do so it really changes nothing.

Other Cosmetics - Not sure what would be here.. Possibly different character models? I know I HATE the male Crusader model so that could be a choice for me. Exclusive gear skins possibly but nothing I would buy as I always use low level gear looks on my characters.

They have NOT mentioned:

Gear

Straight Purchasing Levels

Power

---

I have seen people bring up the leaderboards but nothing that they have mentioned will let anyone go up the rankings. They arent going to be buying Gear or Skill Buffs or Damage Buffs or any other Power from the cash shop. Those that think Leaderboards matter ( newsflash - they dont ) will still have their fake exploited / cheesed epeen to brag about.

Now what a cash shop COULD mean is that they may forgo selling expansions and start doing DLC ( much like Elder Scrolls Online is planning ) that offer new zones or possibly new classes ( like Marvel Heroes selling Heroes ).

All in All right now I dont see this having a negative impact on gameplay.

There will be grouping in Pantheon but not forced grouping. If you want forced grouping then you should begin your search again because isnt here.

Forced grouping is such a silly term.  If no one is forcing you to play the game, no one is forcing you to group.

When people eat at a restaurant, is there is "forced seating?"  When you play a guitar, is there "forced strumming?"

In a group-centric MMORPG, there is no "forced grouping", grouping is just what you'll do.  Shared adversity creates a sense of community.  The idea is to create a dangerous world where people have to work together to some degree, be it on a small scale or large scale, in order to survive and attain greatness.

Will there be certain classes that can solo in some scenarios?  Yes.

However, as I stated earlier, they are taking a new approach to character progression that will require characters of each class to complete certain quests or trials in order to advance further.  At a certain point, you will no longer gain experience unless you've completed said tasks.  I'm going to bet these tasks will often, if not always, require a group.

Its up to you whether you play Pantheon or not, but if you choose to and want to play it in its entirety, you will group.

SMH. They have already said all classes will be able to solo but some better than others. Get over it.

This may be the sleeper many of us have been waiting for. Well, for me it looks pretty promising.

Amen! and if you think about it he seems to have realised that a small group of passionate folks was exactly what made eq what it was . who knows maybe this is part of the right formula to making a hit for the long term!

i do know this eq originally had very little questing and that's what i miss  so sick of questing let me find 5 others and go grind 4 hrs a night while we shoot the breeze.

I am pretty sure they already stated that they didnt want people to camp one spot but rather want players to move around. Not sure how they intend to do that..

Looking great. I hope they will go back to a monthly video again.

Question. Does the elven forest run as badly as it looked like it did in the video? And be honest.

Honest answer: the forest had been properly optimized and put into our playable client build, just like Halnir, the first area we showed. However, during the optimization process and getting the scene ready for Client/Server, the directional light got bumped up in brightness about 3x normal, and so the map was completely washed out.

Since we still wanted to show the area, I opted to take the footage from a localhost build of the scene myself, which was completely un-optimized, unfortunately.

Perfect explanation! Thanks for taking the time and being honest. And dont take that question as a jab because it wasnt.

The best item I have backed on Kickstarter is the Crabby Wallet.. The best darn wallet ever created.

Another example of a poor kickstarter.. The Stomping Ground received 144k. The guy released a " game " so kickstarter cant do anything AND it was also on Steam Early Access where it sold even more copies ( I havent even looked if it was still there. I think it isnt ) only for the dev to go dark and run off with the money no doubt a millionaire now.

New video has some very nice graphical improvement. Though that elven forest looks like it runs very badly judging by how much hitching was going on.
They must be trying to kill their own game before they release it.. FFA and now Friendly Fire. Just go ahead and stand in the unemployment line.

That live action bit was sooooo bad.

Before watching the video I was expecting an isometric dungeon crawler type game the way the bullet points read out.

I have seen screenshots and gameplay from the PS4 version and it looks pretty good to me. Unless TW3 offers better modding capability than the previous 2 installments ( I own 1 and 2 for PC ) I will be getting it for my PS4.

Wouldn't it be a hilarious twist if daybreak resurrected Vanguard, made it a AAA sandbox and reverted EQ1 back to the glory days, completely eliminating the need for Pantheon altogether?

I mean Miley Cyrus's virginity is more likely then this actually happening but I wonder what would become of Pantheon if Daybreak actually listened to the EQ vets and fixed the games they now own. Obviously they'd have to fire Smed but pulling this off isn't entirely impossible is it?

I am not sure what would be so funny about it as I played both games for years but that would be something you would need to speak to DayBreak about, since they have full control over both EQ and VG IPs.

This will not however affect Pantheon in the slightest, we are on track and hitting our targets and look forward to releasing our game to our supporters for testing within 6-9 months. The internal client that we run around in almost daily is more fun exploring than most of the games I have played in the last year or more, so we will have to wait and see what our community says ;)

As to your Miley comment, it's not my style of music personally but if she gets you tapping your foot then good for you I suppose? It does however baffle me when I see these comments though, we have such a talented and dedicated team working on the game and the measurable progress in such a short time is very impressive to say the least, so it is definitely "happening" and is in full swing as we speak.

Having been a long time(6 years+) Everquest 1 player, and an avid Vanguard player, I know my pallet is missing something similar to either one of those.  Nothing that has come out since those two games has come even remotely close to giving the same sense of adventure and fun.  One thing I do hope Pantheon has is a similar class system to Vanguards.  I know after playing Vanguard from launch to shut down, the Blood Mage was by far the funnest, most enjoyable, engaging class I have ever played in my 16 years of playing MMO's.   No game developer has come even close to replicating the feeling you got playing the Blood Mage.  Hell, even the EQ1 Enchanter if you played it to the max(i.e. Charming insanely powerful mobs to do your bidding... risk vs reward) was more fun, and challenging than anything that has come out.

Another thing I hope to see from Pantheon is better animations... I know it's still very early in it's development stage but from what I have seen so far from it, the animations look horrendous(sorry but no offense, they do)  the fighting animations and running animations seem so unbelievably stiff.  I hope they get better as time goes.  I know for one, I would support this game if it gives that same epic feeling that EQ1 and Vanguard did.  Talking about truly astonishing worlds to play in.  Vanguard's world alone, stlll beats anything out to this very day.  Talking about massive and I sure as hell hope you guys follow Vanguards dungeon system.  The open dungeons in the world were flatout amazing!

I believe most of what you see regarding characters models and their animations are currently place holders.  From what I've gathered, they are still trying to decide much of what they want regarding the art and feel of the races.

As much as I hate that so much will be judged on the alpha look of things, I hope they get those aspects up to par immediately so that future videos will be more likely to garner support.

They dont have a character artist / modeler or an animator yet. They may never improve if they do not get more funding.

I agree. SOE botched EverQuest Next. Everything about it was a slap in the face to EQ veterans and the great legacy of EQ.

The SOE Live event in 2013 was a clever bait and switch scheme that lured EQ vets to show up and then once we got there we were let down when we saw the design of EQ Next. They gutted the lore, they removed levels, the removed the classic class system and pretty much everything that we loved about EQ...all gone.

All of the things that made EQ great were completely IGNORED and instead we got Minecraft and an ugly looking world with cartoonish avatars.

I remember being at SOE Live in 2013 and my heart sank as I watched some of the demos.

The only good thing about it was the introduction of dynamic content and smart NPCs. That would really help a future version of EQ if the new company is smart enough to take what was good about the proposed EQ Next and combine it with what was good about EQ.

The fact that John Smedley is still there after years without any success in the MMO world is mind boggling.

I really don't understand such stance... had EQ been a continuation of EQ proper, it would mean yet again, more of the same rehash of old systems (that which we bemoan daily around these parts, and hold as proof the genre is stagnated and/or dead). How would that be good at all for anyone to do at this point, no matter the franchise? Whatever it turned out to be it would have to be a deviation from what came before (aka a slap in the face..)

I also have to ask why people consider landmark = EQN (minecraft reference)? I don't even care about either iteration of the franchise and I know that's not accurate...

Not really. They could have still used Storybricks which is what most people find interesting about EQN ( not voxels. Bad idea and ugly IMO ). The previous art style they were using would have been really something to experience but now we are stuck with Free Realms Next / DisneyQuest.

As an example.

No sir, no way. What percentage of gamers even make $10k per month, forget being able to spend that much. Facebook game whales are considered people spending over $25 per month and only account for 10%, how do PC gaming whales jump to $10k?

Sorry sir but I've seen the data first hand from inside sources - there are folks who regularly spend between 10-20K every month in major AAA games that shell remain unnamed.

Again I have nothing to back this up, so you can simply dismiss it as you wish - I was skeptical too until I saw the ridiculous amounts top 1%ers were spending.

Shocking isn't it?

Just like how you think all " AAA " devs make over 100k per year..
