Looks like they are hoping people will blindly preorder the game with no proof of the games actual existence. Using the " We will limit how many people play " is just a tactic to drive up preorders as high as possible.

Dont like it. You either release or you dont. It honestly feels like the " limited players " is just another way of having an extended beta period after the release of the game.

You can't save your free month... it starts when the game is released just like every other MMO....

 

It doesnt work that way.. On every MMO I have played the free month doesnt start until you activate your account and enter payment information. So you could buy a game and not activate it for 6 months but still have the free month when you do.

Pretty sure a long time ago.. when they were releasing in Q4... they said that your 30 free days started automatically and there was no option for postponing it to a later date.   Something may have changed in the 3-4 months since then, but I haven't read anything different.
 

 

 

Well they are a bunch of amateurs so I wouldbt be surprised if they had no clue how to work a normal system. However this may also only happen with people who already bought the game as someone else mentioned. That is still pretty stupid when all that is needed is an account wipe to reset everything.

Hellgate wasnt \ is not an MMO.. It was a single player game with an online component where they tried to cheat people out of a monthly fee. They wanted that monthly fee so bad that they butchered the game in order to have an excuse to do it.. Releasing an offline and online patch? Seriously? Bunch of morons.

As for what MMO.. AC2. I never got to play it but it looked interesting and I never puked or laughed when I looked at it unlike AC1.

Pure Greed is about all that can be said.

If the Movie , Music and Gaming industry had their way we could only watch a movie once , listen to each track on a CD once and play through a game only once before having to purchase it again.

As for devs not getting paid enough.. I beg to differ. They make more than enough and just because the industry brings in shiny coin doesnt mean they need to be paid more.

I would say Vanguard but I found it to be very tedious after awhile.. Though I did enjoy being able to group harvest a single resource node and I wish more MMOs did that.

UO I guess was the best I have played yet.

Derek Smart.. Why does that name sound familiar? Was he the guy behind the Mourning fiasco?

You guys ever heard of Progress Quest?.. Well this game is just a graphical version of it.

A. It is sort of like EQ and EQ2.. The world is divided up into zones.

B. Havent done any PvP.

C. Havent played to long but you can get up to level 15 in a few hours. Maybe it slows down later I dont know but it seems pretty quick at the beginning.

The games combat actually reminds me of Legends of Kesmai.. You can take on many creatures at once and " ride " a Heal Over Time potion through the fight.

It doesn't make it hardcore, and it doesn't make it "realistic". Do you know what getting night vision means in real life?

 

SV changed it because they found by overwhelming majority, that trying to make it 'super realistic' does not make it fun. That's by their own users who love the way the game plays now. Thinking about the rest of their design people cop to using words like "realism" and "hardcore" when in fact, it's just poorly thought out and not a lot of fun.

 

But if you enjoy it, I encourage you to tell them to keep it in.

 

Well there goes my hope for this game.

The whole selling point of this game was "Realistic".

As for "Night Vision" you mean to tell me you can see just fine on a dark night, in the woods, with trees blocking any ambient light (which gives you your "night vision") you can see just fine? 

As for not a lot of fin that is your opinion. In mine it would be beyond fun. Then again maybe I am just so tired an burnt out on all the rehashes of the same shit daily that I was hoping for something different.

Back to searching for a decent PvP game with devs that actually keep their word.

 

And this is why sandbox games will continue to fail.. Too many people think that sandbox games are all about PvP and nothing else and the amateur indy companies out there believe them because they have no experience in the genre. NEWSFLASH .. UO wasnt about PvP either.

Nothing about MO is realistic especially when there arent 1 hit kills and perma death. You cant pick and choose what you want to be realistic and what you want to be fantasy.

I concur. IIRC the doom and gloom surrounding Darkfall was much, much worse, as it stands now I would say Darkfall is probably more successful than anyone ever actually imagined it would be. Keep in mind DFO and MO are not made to draw the masses so it takes less subs to be a success.

 

DF is actually less successful than I figured it would be and I hate the game. I was expecting ~50k subs but they probably do not even have 20k.

MO will be fortunate to last 6 months after release.

You attract people that are like yourself.. If you find a game has a bad community then maybe you fell into the wrong crowd.. because you are exactly like them.

Looks like these modders are in over their head. They probably thought they could just mod in some MMO stuff and be done with it.

It seems better to me. That said, its a lot easier to to get the higher level stuffs through tokens. High end RvR weapons are rewarded through RvR, which imo is a mixxed blessing (see below)

5) Scenarios: Still poppin'?

With the new RvR weapons, very much so. However, (as i said in another post) WARs scenerios have been WoW'd. That being, they are rewarding  you for playing scenerios, win or lose, more for winning, less for losing. This has (obviously) brought in the afk types, which i rarely (if ever) saw in WAR. It also brought a lot more premades in, and in WAR, the discrepency (in gear/ranks) in the last tier scenerios, is much worse than in WoW (imo).

6) ORVR: Worth it yet?

I really enjoy RvR, so I am biased here. There are times where it is a ton of fun, but other times where you turrn around and just see a massive sea of red names bearing down on you, that barely slow down as you hit the respawn button.


 

Its a fun game taken in smaller doses, if you like PvP and/or rvr. Nothing else (as far as pvp) MMOs out there interests me, that said, it won't take a whole lot to pull me away, but i am not holding my breath waiting for one.

Scenerios are going down a path thats going to not be a lot of fun for some people and needs some changes.  T4 endgame is supposedly under the devs microscope now, I don't have a lot of faith, but they really need to hit a home run with whatever they come up with.

 

AFKers were always a problem in WAR.. Which is why they added an auto boot feature in SCs if you are idle for 1 minute and also why they cut down the radius of getting exp renown for other players kills in SCs. Before you could stand still for an entire SC and get exp \ renown standing in the WC while the fights were happening across the map.

I see the Myth of " Realm Pride " has infected these forums too.. It didnt exist. Maybe it was there at the beginning but once rewards for RvR went in it was " How can I gain the most RPs ". What was there was the attachment to keeps that guilds had.. That was something to defend but when it came to the realm.. People could care less about each other.

Of the 4 years I played ( from release on - Mythic fanboy long before DAoC saw the light of day ) I never witnessed anything close to realm pride. 90% of the players could care less about who had the relics as it made very little difference.

DAoC 2? Only if the PvE was there.. PvP doesnt offer enough depth to carry a game ( see WAR ). DAoC had good enough PvE to keep people occupied in areas like Stonehenge and the like. Despite popular belief DAoC wasnt a pvp \ rvr centric game and it was never meant to be. People made that up long after DAoC left its prime to try and hold up a myth that they created in their minds about how great the game was. The sad part is that Mythic actually believed it and thats why they fell short with WAR ( terrible world design and terrible PvE will kill a game ).

 

I think its pretty funny how people think a sandbox game cant have classes. The best games ever made have classes + exp levels + skills. Classes would just be there to offer direction and even without a name people go around calling themselves " Paladins " and such when using melee and healing combos.

Locking yourself into one belief just makes whatever game you envision shallow and barren of any real sandbox qualities.

For me the 5 things would be..

1. A large surface world.. Parts of Dungeons being instanced doesnt matter to me. I would prefer it to prevent griefing and camping of needed quest mobs.

2. Experience levels and skills. Exp levels control HP,  Mana and combat adds (combats adds would be +1 to a to hit roll gained every x levels ) while skill determine how good you are with whatever you are using.

3. Tone down gear bonuses and the like. I grow tired of seeing players with thousands of hp. Would rather see HP being in the hundreds instead of the thousands.

4. Many gathering and crafting abilities.

5. Something.

When it comes down to it sandbox = choice.. Limit choice and it isnt a sandbox. A game having classes does not mean it couldnt be a sandbox. As I said before if the world supports choice then it doesnt matter if you choose a class for direction or choose your own skills.

What made UO a sandbox to me waas the ability to go hit on a mountain or tree to get resources and then going back home and crafting on my own forge - turning bolts of cloth into bandages.. It wasnt " choose your skills " it was everything else that I could do if I CHOSE to do it.

It sounds like bullshit to me. "We won't release videos, but we'll allow players to do so if they're willing to pay for our game that we refuse to show you actual screenshots or footage of...".  Just like the "it's not a paid beta except that nobody from the public is in beta, because it's all in house, and you only get to come into beta if you pay us for a product we refuse to show you..."

  1. There are already screen shots, so there's no excuse not to release other screenshots
    • We've already seen what's allegedly in the game as of today, no?
    • Irrespective of flora, why not release screenshots of the UI?
  2. "We don't want or need more  hype"? Really?  That's why news of Xsyon has suddenly exploded?  Even if that quote is true, it's not good business to solicit sales without offering evidence of your product, hence all the "scam" accusations.  Put out a video and allay concerns.  There's no excuse not to unless the game is in such a poor state that footage would actually hurt sales, in which case taking preorder money borders on fraud.

Nothing would surprise me.. But I would rather listen to someone say they dont want much hype instead of saying their game would be UO x100000 and then not even reach 1% of what UO was ( * cough* DF , MO * cough * ).
