Meh could be lower, could be higher. Still would like to see official numbers.

I think sales will steadily increase over the summer and then a huge spike in sales will occur from September - December. I still predict 10 million active by Jan. '15

ROFL. Ya up against WoD, and others, not likely. I ll eat my copy of WoD, and AA if this happens.

Considering that WoD has been canceled and AA isnt as great as once thought.. Not much left other than Landmark and possibly a pay in alpha for EQ Next. Wildstar may do well but with their devs flailing at trying to draw hype its a bit on the backburner.

I dont think there has been more than million sales for ESO since they havent said anything and one would assume they would if that were the case. But I do think that they have gotten enough to feel comfortable with delaying the console launch for 6 months.

Besides, pve-only Archeage would be closer to a themepark with side features than a sandbox anyway.

I guess you haven't reached level 30+ then.

I have. It pretty much remains a themepark on the PvE side but I dont mind. The PvE is pretty weak anyway.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see EQN Early Access late this year or early next year.. Probably around the time Landmark goes into open beta which is pretty much full release for f2p games.
If the game doesnt drag on for a long time it should be a pretty good success. But if its like AA and it takes forever then the next big thing will be on its way.
I have yet to play a PB game that I enjoyed and I have tried G1-3 and the first Risen. I didnt play Risen 2 because of my experiences with their games. Will keep an eye on this one nonetheless.
They have to generate their own hype? Maybe their beta numbers are lower than what they expected.
Not worth $150. Not worth even $50 honestly. It feels like a typical f2p asian game with big time syncs to hide shallow features.

Then there's the engine itself, which while clearly capable - is just not working for me when it comes to player created content. Due to the unpredictable nature of player content - the engine has to load it moments before you're upon it, which creates massive pop-ups all over the place. This is jarring and not at all immersive. One advantage of Ultima Online was the tilebased 2D image approach, which meant everything was in memory and rarely "popped up" as such.

UO DID Have loading on objects and buildings, you could easily run fast enough to outpace the loading and watch as things popped up...

Did you forget?

We were on 56k modems, if we were lucky, the internet ran slower all around, yes UO had loading on objects, dear god it did.

This really invalidates your statements to me, just how wholly inaccurate this paragraph is.

I played UO with a 28.8k connection and I do not remember anything of the sort.

I agree with most if not all the things the OP posted. Good underlying systems but the whole just isnt very good. I continue to play to get deeper into crafting but it is getting pretty difficult to get past the poor world design.

I broke down an bought it and from what I have played ArcheAges own asianness will kill it.

A game with a world as beautiful as ArcheAges that begs you to explore it has random mobs thrown about keeping you from doing just that.. Walk 10 feet a patch of 30 mobs , walk 10 more feet and another 30 pack of different monsters over and over. The mob spawns make no sense and is the exact same as the copy and paste asian crap we have all seen before.

The same can be said for villages and towns. There are far more npcs than living space for them and 99% of them are static not even able to interact with them. Its just NPCs thrown about for some reason or another and NONE move!. Nothing meshes with what is going on around them.

Sure the crafting is nice and 3 skill trees can be interesting , graphics still hold up well even though the game doesnt run smoothly ( 70+ fps and then for no reason chug down to 20 or lower for a few seconds ) , growing your own trees and ingredients is awesome.

Trion honestly needed to be more than just a publisher to fix it. The villages and its populace need to be redone , the bombardment of quests the first half of the game needs to be chopped , cut away scenes for quests need to go , mob spawns need to make sense .. I could keep going.

" Carebears " will have nothing to do with ArcheAges success or failure. It is going to be f2p so I cant see the game not have players no matter what..

Edit : Also I think many people need to learn what steampunk actually is.. ArcheAge has that but then goes way overboard with things like radios that play rap music. The only thing thing acceptable is a record player of some sort.. The travel wagons are a example of good steampunk.. cars are not.. Modern swimwear.. NOT.

" Steampunk " isnt a good excuse for ignorant decisions.

Level 14 I think.. I dont play as much as most but each time I log on I cant help but run around and just explore. Getting the next level is the last thing on my mind. Right now I am working up to doing FG but have yet had enough time in one sitting to go for it.

I am not sure if I have seen a better designed world than what is in ESO. Any others playing this way?

My main issue with AA is the typical asian style NPC / Mob clump setup. Most of it makes no sense and the majority of npcs are static and non interactive. Mob spawns are just strewn about with no rhyme or reason.

A clump of bandits on one side of the road and a clump of spiders on the other side. Just terrible.

The game systems are nice but that is about it.

Lol must be alot of people canceled their sub.

Or they are just being nice.

Why is the OP still posting in this forum? That would be like me or anyone else posting in the Darkfall or Mortal Online forums.
I reported someone the other day who was constantly insulting players , using language in the chat..ect. . Wonder if this is the same person. Also attached a screenshot of it so whoever it was couldnt say they didnt do it.

How long did Zenimax try to resolve this? Nearly 2 years?

Looks like some peoples hero turned out to be a thief.. It happens. Get over it.

Have fun getting the launcher to work. Some are reporting to have downloaded the game , getting restart launcher prompt and then having to download the 23 gigs AGAIN.

Yeah.

As someone who recently purchased the $150 Founder's Pack, I wanted to show you all the quick processing which took place:

- spent the last week wondering what to play...........

- been waiting for an excuse to play Archeage for over a year

- Founder's packs announced

- did some basic math

150 - 45 (assuming sub/patron is $15 a month as other games) = $105

105 - 75 (value of the coins awarded, also remember that you can use coins to purchase more patron time) = $30

It is reasonable that anyone who was really planning on playing AA was going to subscribe at least 3 months in their AA career.  Let alone for anyone playing any subscription based game would spend $15 a month to access their games.  If this game were purely subscription based, you would drop $150 playing for 10 months.  Let alone most games still having a basic purchase of $40-$60 regardless.

$150 seems steep, but it seemingly is asking, "hey, would you put in $30 for alpha access? An oh, btw,  you get to start playing the game today and functionally have 2-3 months of experience in a game youve been wanting to play."

Now, not everyone has $150 just lying around, and that part can suck and be frustrating. But that's not on them.  And if you cant financially support the industry, then dont complain about them not meeting your needs.  You want content, customization, a great experience and awesome world, but scoff at the idea that they programmers/designers/artists/company doesnt need a little bit of coin in return?

Wipes are the problem. Even if you start as early as Alpha - you would loose everything as you move to a Headstart date - so that is a lot of waisted time for a game that is already released.

I'm in the alpha. Paid the 150. It's as simple as if you are interested in the game and have the money. The value of the purchase is subjective.

The alpha is not getting wiped. It will run parallel to beta and launch and will serve as public test. There is the possibility of alpha wipe if they have an update they can't put on top of existing code.  But part of being alpha.

Finding the game to be fun so far.  Korean style of gameplay is more 'generic' in terms of systems but incredibly deep in terms of customization. A style I felt has been missing. Not for everyone.

Alpha characters will get wiped and then the closed beta characters will get wiped and then once in open beta no more wipes ( since that is release for anything f2p ). You are fooling yourself if you think what you do in the alpha is going to carry over or what you even do in closed beta. Not happening.

People charge for beta and alpha keys all the time. Instead of giving it away for free and random people get money this time the developers make the money. I dont see anything wrong with this model. Would I pay for it? No, but I never bought beta or alpha keys before but I know tons of people buy and sell them.

There is a market for it, its just like when Diablo was charging for items in the AH. Instead of random players farming these items and making all the money Blizzard could make some money from it and help the company expand instead of filling the pockets of random people.

Those items in the RMAH were found and listed by players. Not a good comparison.

$150 is steep. There should have been a tier with just alpha and beta access with no other bells and whistles. They threw in all the other things to make the tiers look like they have value so they can charge an arm and a leg.

i played 3 or 4 years of ultima online, there wasnt 1 quest in that game, i think i prefer it that way also, forced exploration and grinding mobs was fun enough not to need any other leveling method back then, but with today's almost forced questing type model, most people who started playing mmo's in the last 10 years dont know anything different.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this BUT UO did have quests even before any expansions. You just had to know where they were.

For me.. I would like to be able to do both.
