Military - They use video games and simulators to train so VR would be the next logical choice for them to use if they arent already.

Adult Industry - Need I say more?

I do not see VR taking off at all in the gaming market.

It doesnt matter how much it does or doesnt weigh because the constant strain and pull on the back of your neck will lead to injuries. As an example.. My mom painted small figurines when she younger that were not even a pound in weight and after a couple years she had to have 2 different neck surgeries due to the damage caused by constantly holding those figurines up. I already expect Facebook to be hit by lawsuits from people that get similar injuries. Then you have the many reports of motion sickness and headaches..

ROFL .. you serious? Neck injuries?

Sure when it happens it happens, until then .. it's just speculation. It's almost like saying people with ski goggles will get neck injuries. Also .. did she hold up the figurines with her head .. I am confused rofl.

Motion sickness has a lot to do with what you do in the rift. They are also working on reducing that even more and more, and they have been. It may still be a problem even with the consumer version, but I doubt it would be a major problem. Only an issue for a few.

Headaches are due to straining ones eyes. If you take breaks every hour or so, you shouldn't get headaches.

You do realize that when you lift something that it isnt just your arm muscles right? Your neck plays a big part in lifting and even a bigger part when constantly have to hold something up either with your hand in front of you or something hanging from the front of your face. Lawsuits will happen...

the headset is about as light as my balls.

turning your head with that thing is less risky then checking traffic with a motorcycle helment.

The head is designed to move.

in fact! I have a motorcycle helment, DK2 and a bike helment I am going to weigh them all now.

I hate to say it but you are pretty clueless. The constant strain on your neck coming from holding something ( THAT IS NOT BALANCED ) that is hanging from the front of you face is dangerous! I am not sure why fans of VR refuse to see the health issues that can and will come about due do this product. After the first few million dollar lawsuits I am sure Facebook will start taking it seriously.. After all they already dropped tons of money of the product and they NEED it to be profitable. The last thing they want is to pay out settlements and lose money over their billion dollar hardware.

I think some people are underestimating how much money they will get once they start offering early access. Will it be 10+ million? Not likely but several hundred thousand or more is definitely in the realm of possibility. Then factor in another kickstarter and then maybe putting early access on Steam.

There is still a chance for them to get a good amount of funding. They just need to last long enough to get to that early access point.

That's only true if they can show people something they can believe in. There are many people who want to believe in Brad and his success, but they need something impressive to justify their belief and self-delusion. So far Brad has consistently failed to deliver that something.

I have yet gave any money toward Pantheon but what they have been able to do so far with little funding is pretty impressive I think. It may take another 6 months for them to get to an early access point so the only real issue is them lasting long enough to get there.

If a console version comes out the graphics will have to be worse and gameplay will have to take account of the limitations in a consoles memory and so on.

So play it on a sub standard platform if you will, or play it on the PC.

XOne and PS4 have enough RAM to run the game no problem. Both have 8GB with ~5GB available for games and ESO doesnt use 5GB even on the highest settings. Of course they would have to tune the game with view distance , flora density / distance ..etc due to the cpu and graphic power. I will assume that is what you meant and not really the RAM.

There is always only one reason why business will do something or not given that it's actually possible to do.

Money.

They aren't seeing enough potential profit in it, or they'd do it.

The XOne and PS4 would bring at least another 2 million sales and that is probably on the low end of what would be sold. There is pleny of profit to be had.

What is "plenty of profit" for them? Maybe 2 mil is not enough to justify the cost to them. If there was 20 million potential sales on the line, you can bet there would be no delay.

Considering that they probably didnt reach 2 million sales on PC.. I would consider 2 million plenty. Then think that Skyrim sold 13m+ copies on 360 + PS3 and that there are 15m+ XOnes and PS4s in use. That is their potential market. I only said 2 million because it seemed like a sensible number.. It would probably be more honestly. Then factor in subs ( if they decide to keep it that way )... Yes. PLENTY of profit to be had.

The console release is coming at some point. That is a definite IMO.

There is no way they will pass up that user base and the millions of sales that comes with it. They are reworking some pretty major systems right now so it would make zero sense to do a console release until that work is complete. I think April or May of next year seems to be a good guess for the console release.

Have they fixed all the bugged and broken quests that they didn't fix during all of the beta tests for launch?

Those were fixed a long time ago. Most of them had something to do with how many people were around spawn points and phases. And a simple log out to character select and logging back in fixed it most of the time. When I took a break I hadnt ran into any broken quests for awhile.

I am starting to have a little more spare time now so I will end up playing again soon.

Oh my goodness. First you think for some reason that Brad created Rift and then you somehow take him talking about the OR in an interview as him also creating it? Wow.

No, i think Aradune has made it pretty clear that he himself wasn't involved in Rift, but a couple of his friends were, who, if i understood correctly, are now on his team, working for him on Pantheon. And you cannot fault him for that, it's a wise business decision to surround yourself with industry veterans. Richard Garotte is a name we're all familiar with here, he and Aradune made a deal to exchange capes and shawls with emblems of their respective games earlier this year (might have been late 2013).

Now, with regard to the Oculus Rift, i have no idea which role he played in its development. Call me a skeptic, but so far i haven't seen any evidence which would support this rumor, unless he got screwed over really bad in the deal, and didn't receive any of that Facebook money.

I still dont think you understand anything that you are saying. He never said the friends that he has that worked / works on Rift are now helping him with Pantheon. Maybe they volunteer when they can but he didnt say they were helping him just that he knows people that worked on Rift  and that he didnt when someone said that he created Rift. And throwing Richard Garriotts name in this is very weird and means virtually nothing.

Brad had nothing to do with OR.. Nothing at all. So there is no rumor to it and the only suggestion of it came from someone that was seriously misinformed in this thread.

The ISSUE which Brad admits was that the technology required to run that game in 2007 was too ahead of it's time. So it lost a ton of money. He was screwed over by Sony, Screwed over making Vanguard. So THEN he goes and creates Rift which is still a top performer today on the market.
I'm not gonna lie, Rifts was one hell of a game, so i'd like to take the occasion to say Thanks a ton to Aradune McQuaid, i enjoyed that one a lot, might reactivate my account if that somehow contributes to the support of Pantheon.
Actually I did not work on Rifts, though I have good friends that did.  I was the producer on EQ 1 & Vanguard, and was also involved managing EQoA, the first several EQ 1 expansions, SW:G early on, etc.
Oh My! I am so sorry Brad I was thinking in reference to an interview you did talking about the Oculus Rift haha                           My bad good sir!

What, seriously? I mean if what you say is true and he was indeed involved in developing the Oculus (in addition to EverQuest, Van-Guard, Star Wars: The Game), that's all the more impressive, i had no idea whatsoever. Does this man ever get any sleep LOL. But then i don't really know, man. Why would the current game need any external funding, didn't the OR get sold to Facebook for quite a hefty sum? Not sure what to think about that :(

Oh my goodness. First you think for some reason that Brad created Rift and then you somehow take him talking about the OR in an interview as him also creating it? Wow.

Anyway. I think Pantheon could " look " good enough now if they redo the moving and attack animations and then add clothing physics. I think clothing / hair physics are just being forgot about in games today. The power is there but for whatever reason devs are going all out to get the best screenshot graphics and not the best playing graphics.

I suspect that once they believe the game is ready for people to jump in and playtest they will put Alpha access on one of the backer tiers on their site and also do another kickstarter along side of it. I bet they would get a good amount of money coming in at that point. I personally wouldnt do more than a $50 tier for alpha access though.

I sometimes wonder if Landmark was supposed to be a part of EQN (EQN's housing, perhaps, as you've stated) but they decided they needed money NOW and thus cut it off and released it as its own game.  The gradual disconnect of it from EQN in developer commentary etc as time went on contributed to that feeling.

I wouldnt be surprised if Landmark was mainly put out to bring in funds for both games. They probably overestimated how much money would come in and now updates have been really slow for months. Building tools still need a ton of work , no PvE ( supposed to have been in game months ago ) , lakes and streams continue to be pushed back , even after a month of optimizations the game still doesnt run all that well with shadows..etc. They are already talking about open beta even with the game in just a raw state .. Open Beta = More people = more cash shop purchases.

I do not have any proof that reviews are paid for but I first got the suspicion about 10 years with IGN when the NFL 2K series and Madden were going head to head. The 2K games had much better on the field gameplay with consecutive hit tackles , gang tackling , presentation..etc. But no matter what Madden would always score like .1 higher for whatever reason.  Especially when it came to NFL 2K5 and Madden 2005.. 2K absolutely trounced Madden in every possible way but yet IGN had 2K5 at 9.4 and Madden at 9.5.

All the while Madden continued to have issues with super linebackers ( which is back in Madden 15 ) , defenses that know what side you are running to and would also mirror audibles / flipping the play ( also back in Madden 15 ) , no gang tackling or multi hit tackles , no signature animations and plenty more.

Havent trusted IGN since.. Come to think of it I dont think I ever visited their site again. My belief is that some reviews are bought and paid for in some form or another.

The top is the Dark Elf Armor. It looks ok but there is something off putting about it. Hard to say. Shoulders possibly? Maybe it will look better on a Dark Elf.

The next is the Mage Robes. I like this one except the part around the back of the neck.

Right now  there are head gear , chest , gloves and boots. However the chest armor does the entire armor graphic... In the picture of the robes I had gloves and a helmet equipped with no graphic for either showing.

They also added an ability to Sword and Bow and also redid the abilities on the Staff. I think the staff is the clear winner as far as fun IMO. The following video shows the armors and weapon abilities.

http://youtu.be/5MA6Xc7FgpA

Edit : Also want to point out there there are no physics on the armor yet just set animations when you move around.

Haven't experienced anything like that so far, and I've canceled/resubbed a few times now. It's always worked smoothly for me

Correct. The charge will probably go through at a later time.

Amazon Game Studios? Most likely a mobile game that will release and be forgotten about after a week.

Still Blizzard succeed in selling their s***.

So why criticising Jagex for learing from them?

Sorry for this trollish post, but I just don't get why people tend to think of Blizzard as a source of creativity when most of their games are a patchwork of stolen thoughts.

* meanwhile degenerated into comicstyle parody of a fantasy universe which causes eye bleed

To be fair for Blizzard.. They were working with GWS until they pulled out and so Blizzard went ahead and made adjustments and released Warcraft. I am sure GWS has been regretting that decision ever since.

I dont see how Starcraft ripoffs WH40K? Not much alike as far as I can tell.

WoW wasnt " dumbed down " until much later and even now it can be one of the more difficult MMOs if you so choose.

Never played Hearthstone and probably never will. TCGs are not for me. But I hear from new players and veterans of the genre that it is really good.
