EA is voted Worst Company in America, Now What?
General Gaming « General Discussion 4/05/12 8:12:50 PM
I don't know why there's debate over this. It's a poll. Hosted on Consumerist.com. This is not a moral battle, it never was. I mean I guess I get it, people interpret "Worst Company in America" as some kind of contest that holistically includes business practice and outcome. But its not. Its a poll on a website that gears toward shopping. I'm saying this loosely, more people are exposed to EA products than Bank of America. That said people who have been royally screwed by BofA, probably didn't take part of that poll- it was mostly educated people who knew the damage that BofA does. If this was hosted to the general populace? I bet there would be a different outcome. We (people who actually know what Bank of America does) know BofA is a scummy, aphauling, corporate slime passing itself off as a business. That said, take this piece of information as entertainment, not fact. Corporate slime? I don't even know why I wrote that. |

Why WoW will more then likely remain Number 1
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 11/13/11 8:19:45 PM
#1 in what sense? Population? Because yes I agree that WoW for the next couple years will (still) be the holder of the MMO market. But that's because WoW is already a distinguished game with lots of content. Another point supporting that idea, would be the presence of Blizzard as a company and it's long history of fantastic games. Blizzard backing WoW with a high level of priority will keep the game populated. The marketing is pretty genius afterall. However, in my opinion, that's all it really is and will amount to be. I was once a WoWer, I played it because it was fun, challenging, and filled with wonderful content that made me feel like part of a massive world. Not so much anymore. People will migrate away from WoW, alot of casual players and hardcore players who are tired of the button mashing. Frankly, that's all I really want to happen. Someone mentioned, I believe it was the OP, that kids can easily jump in this world. Exactky so, they can- and that's whats wrong. I'm more of an adult now, I've aged in the past couple years; I need a game that can age with me and have more adult/challenging aspects. Not one that themizes expansions on pandas. Which is a topic for another thread I suppose. Suffice it to say, WoW will only be #1 in terms of population and nothing else. The gameplay and innovation of the game is lacking and will not be able to keep up with the titles in the upcoming year of 2012. |

I think the main focus of GW2's battle system is placement and amount of survivability skill. You need to be constantly moving to do well. Using corners, kiting, and pretty much any obstruction to step away from damage is key to winning battles. Do I dare hype this battle system thinking that the rolling factor will add a Dark Souls-esque importance to pvp/pve? I think I will. Rolling and survivability in general seems to mean alot. The whole Holy Trinity being gone, I can only assume this will be main priority. Self heals, in my opinion, are a great way to incorporate skill in the game. I'm sick and tired of relying on someone to keep me up while I press the same buttons over and over. My only real question now is how "threat" is going to be incorporated. If it's the traditional, highest dps gains aggro, I'm wondering how that will pose in a PvE setting. Don't get me wrong I'm a 100% PvPer but I do like my fair share of dungeoning. Will this cheapen team play in a dungeon? Will it feel like I'm playing alone despite being in a group? I certainly hope not. |

What is an acceptable "death-penalty?" and How to deal with Ganking (Unwanted Pvp)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/10/11 10:28:43 PM
To be honest, ganking gives games depth. No doubt about it. Realistic? Let's not talk about realistic, because realistically speaking if you put yourself in your character's position getting ganked SHOULD come naturally. If your faction is at war with another, unwanted PVP, is logical progression. If the chance arises for the opposition, who clearly has loyalty to anti-yours, he will and be "morally" obligated to do so. Punishment for that seems silly and downright madness. That said, I gank. I gank all the time. |

Guild Wars 2: Flannum Dissects the GStar Video
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/10/11 9:22:09 PM
I don't even understand why I keep reading/watching the updates of this game. I already know of the pain that it's going to cause yet I still do. GW2 needs to come out, doesn't ANet understand what it's doing to people like me?! |

Originally posted by caremuchless I remember playing Aion. It was a grind fest, it really was. I enjoyed the whole wings thing, for like 2 days. The PvP was terrible, gear centric and paper scissors rock, bleh. I'm just happy NCSoft is only publishing GW2 and giving ANet all the decisions on content. As to the original poster's comment of Aion being above WoW and SWTOR. Well, you can't really compare it to SWTOR and WoW is still the big boss of MMOs. I personally don't know why, WoW became shit the second it implemented resilience. Downhill from there, nonetheless, I still don't see Aion being ahead of them. |

Guild Wars 2: Exclusive: Jon Peters Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/06/11 5:15:34 PM
I know I shouldn't get hyped; I've done it with too many mmos. It always ends up in dissapointment. But I honestly can't help but think that GW2 is the MMO I've been waiting for. Good foundations with a innovative and dedicated team behind it. Can't wait. |

Who is going to play a human when he can play a norm?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 11/05/11 3:19:16 PM
The lore. I'm never one to roll human but, GW2's construction of the human lore is really appealing to me. The human race, for once, is not the clear dominating force of the world. They have fallen from their previous glory; they stumble but constantly look ahead for the sake of valor. They are now restrained within Divinity's Reach, protecting a queen. Comes the time where she falls, so does Divinity's Reach. Is that 100% accurate? Probably not, but that's the vibe I get from human lore. Expect me to be one of the queen's loyal servants. It is on my shoulder to protect both the queen and the dwindling human race. It's just a better fit for my personality. |
