A few things:

1. If you are just in this game for PvE, you will be disappointed. The PvE isn't anything new. They improves upon WAR's public quest system (and when population settles down they'll be better), but that's about it.

2. The graphics are actually very good and my average system handled them very well. I was really impressed with the detail and uniqueness of the terrain and structures and how smoothly my computer handled all the flashes and bangs.

3. I'm an RPer, so I tend to have the mentality of "do it myself" by which I mean I try to make my own fun. Honestly, if you want some fun then you are going to have to go make it a little bit. If you don't like the mindlessness of rifts, get your own group together with guildmates and friends, then take on rifts that the zerg isn't focusing on. If you are bored waiting for warfronts, go do some duels or go out into the world and make some PvP happen. Hunting down lone questers is always fun :P

4. For a fresh game right out of the gate...I have not encounter any bugs. It is so clean in that respect

Just some food for thought. I really think this is a game with potential, especially on the PvP front. The classes are fun and interesting, the combat is smooth, and world PvP has a point. Also, the whole rift idea lends itself to endless expansion.

Stormwind is absolutely gorgeous!

I can't wait until I can play my Worgen Druid!

Let's see what it brings. I'm really rooting for WAR because it was such a fun game when you really got the RvR rolling.

Here's to hoping for a comeback, even if it's just a little comeback!

100,000,000 dollars

I'm quite positive they have the resources to flesh out good ground play AND space play.

As a Gay Christian...I just gotta say that this thread delivers very nicely. I wonder how much more crazy we can pack into this one before the mods come with the lock.

If God didn't support gay marriage...why would he allow this to happen?

I just have to say...your analogies made my day.

When it comes to MMOs...I'm a pansexual.

PIHB

Public quest!

There is a group of people, sent by the ruler of the land, to rebuild the castle.

Stage 1:

Collect materials from throughout the surrounding area.

Stage 2:

fend off the raid parties of [Insert Hostile NPCs Here] as NPC workers (and maybe some actual player crafters) build up the castle and its defenses

Stage 3:

Hold off the incoming raids for as long as possible. Eventually the attackers will over run the castle and destroy it.

Reward:

The longer you hold off the enemy and the more you contribute to the effort, the greater the reward.

Now that's pretty simplified, but something to that extent.

Too little too late.

Pamala Anderson couldn't blow life back into this game.

They said that about Age of Conan too.

Did anyone else have an nerdgasm when they saw this article?

I'm pretty sure I did.

OMG! This article had me CRACKING UP!

Dude, do you realize how awesome you are at RP ALREADY!

My first RP character was an emo Elf Paladin hellbent on desroying an evil vampire assassin guild from the inside, but falling in love with one of the vampires and eventually accepting the guild.

It was the stupidest RP character...ever...but I had so much freakin fun. I just can't seem to find that anymore. The last time I really enjoyed RP was when I created a character that was a dragon hunter and went around bonking whelps on the head and insisting that they leave Silvermoon.

Let me just say, if you let your character get too real and too serious, you'll lose the magic. If you log on and aren't having fun with your character, you need to make him fun. For the longest time now I have been saying to myself "If I just make a serious RP character and get in a good guild and...blahblahblah" yah...no. YOU have to make the RP. Always remember that. Very rarely will you have RP made for you. Just have fun with it and play a character that YOU enjoy. If you let others dictate your enjoyment, you'll mope around Stormwind unhappy, bored, and not having fun.

I get the feeling that we are on the verge of something big. Whether it be good or bad, I don't know.

I boycotted 2% milk when it came out.  They just released 1% a little bit earlier.  Money grabbing evil dairy farmers..

To be honest, Im pretty sure youre looking for Age of Conan. Again, yadda yadda yadda, the game is VASTLY improved since launch. Thats the buzz, and I can tell you that its true. So if youve played it already, banish your previous notions and give it a shot.

The PVP is dynamic and fun, and most importantly: It happens everywhere

Jump on Cimmeria and come enjoy some good world PVP :)

I tried that, lagged to hell.

It's not the games fault. I played it perfectly smooth. Turn down the graphics and mess with it a bit. Other than AoC, I wouldn't know what to tell you.

SOE saved and doomed Vanguard.

They saved it from the servers being turned off, but they doomed it to sit and rot because it was a threat to EQ2.

If Vanguard had more people, I'd probably give it a shot. It's an awesome game for RP.

Games like SWTOR.. .I consider single player games with a monthly fee.

I wonder when people are going to stop using this line. Do some research bud. I challenge you to listen to some Darthhater podcasts.

Seriously...you don't realize how intellectually challenged that statement is.

Devs themselves say 95% of the game is soloable.

Yah...and most MMOs out today are soloable all the way up to level cap. I'm not disappointed that I'm getting what I expected.

There are NPC parties so you don't have to group.

There is ONE companion. However, they are in the process of making ways to reward those who group.

The game focuses around a scripted, linear, cinematic story, so it all has to take place in instances.

You kinda forgot the whole choice thing, but whatever. I mean, choices that alter the story is something we see in every MMO these days, right? And how does it have to take place in an instance? They've said that around 90% of the game is open world. I think you're exaggerating a bit.

Sounds pretty single player to me, maybe grab some real life friends. Then probably a raid instance or something tacked on to make it seem "massive".

All that we've been presented with so far is story stuff, world stuff, and class stuff but not a whole lot about the game mechanics. I think you should be a little less judgemental. We don't have the nitty gritty details yet, so all you're going on is one big assumption. I'm sure you know all about those who assume and such. We haven't seen crafting, we haven't seen raiding and dungeons, we haven't seen PvP, we haven't seen the systems in place that promote community. It's too early to make a judgement call.

Like I said...listen to some DarthHater podcasts. Very informative.

Bioware has made the same kind of game for 20 years.

Very linear RPGs.

Why would SWTOR be any different? And of course its instanced, how else is it going to be crafted to the player and have cinematics if its not in an instance?

Blizzard made the same kind of RTS up until WoW.

Why would WoW be differe-...owait...

From what we have seen so far, player cinematics have occured when interacting with NPCs. I think what happens is you sort of go into a parallel world where the NPCs interact on your screen, but no one else sees them doing it. All they see is you standing there talking to the NPCs, like you would see someone get a quest in WoW or AoC or Warhammer or LotRO or Fallen Earth or Vanguard or EQ2...etc. *WARNING* This is just the impression I got from doing research. This, too, hasn't been fleshed out and given tons of detail.

And yes, I'm biased, just like everyone else on this website.
