Aion is no longer in need of a CBT, am I the only one that sees this as a step forward? If they don't need anymore CBT, do you really expect them to halt development to stay in the CBT phase? I, for one, am glad they don't. |

Seems like a financial deathwish. I mean come on, I know devs kinda do their own thing but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that ST fans aren't going to accept anything dumbed down or compromised. |

I really want a vast and complex universe to explore as well. I really don't see this as possible if it weren't zoned though. Hopefully there is so much to explore that instancing woudn't be required. I also want to see an MMO more based on exploration than domination. It wouldn't seem like Star Trek to me if the game just revolved around destroying each other. There are plenty of other MMO's for that, let's see this one true to the vision, "to boldly go where no one has gone before" I truely have high hopes for this game and wonder if the dev's really realize the potential they are sitting on. |

Aion: Can this game be the last stand for new MMORPG's in the near future?

As for WAR I think it will be successful, its hype is pretty much about a giant quagemire of epic PvP which is what lots of ppl are looking for, kinda hard not to deliver there. I think its not about dev's looking around, its about having balls and trying something new that isn't already out there. And if Aion does end up sucking, which I doubt, there is light at the end of the tunnel. SE has an MMO in development, that is sure to please ^_^
*edit* just wanted to add about AoC. If they didn't promise so much I might still be playing it. THe community was flat out lied to though. THe combat system wsn't revolutionary, dx10 wasn't implemented as AoC promised to have at launch and much more. Sometimes, you can tell the public, "You will like this, you will like this..." sometimes it works, but you need to present something somewhat similar to what you are advertising otherwise it was be nearly universally rejected. |

Well I don't think I would recommend ffxi if you are just looking for a game to pass the time. The first few months are the worst and if you only stick around long enough the get a character up to the 35-50 level, you will really walk away feeling pissed. I would reccomend AoC until release, its something you can play solo if you want and I got a maxed class in 3 1/2 weeks, plus there's Gore!!! |

Aion: Can this game be the last stand for new MMORPG's in the near future?

Well, I don't see Aion dominating the marketplace, if that what this thread is implying. For me personally though, it looks to be the best MMO avaliable and it looks like it will be around for quite a while. Those are the two most important things for me. Whether it dominates the MMO world doesn't really matter much to me as long as I enjoy it. |

Well I understand what you are writing but I think if I am going to make myself vulnerable to a PvP attack by have two characters at once, that is my own disadvantage, not anyone else's and certainly not my attackers. Although, I am failing to see how dual-boxing would give anyone a disadvantage in PvP. At the very least I could forget my 2nd character and fight soley with my 1st, I would be no better or worse off than if I had one character. If anything it seems like it would give me an advantage since it would give me more time to fight my attackers if they were to take the time to attack a non-responsive character. I am not trying to flame here, I just don't quite understand how dual-boxing makes people worse @ pvp? I could understand if it was arena PvP but i seriously doubt most sane people would take two characters into arena PvP. |

I welcome you to check out Elysium. But to be clear, we are a guild of Mature players. Age doesn't neccesarily = maturity. The guid is relatively new but if you check out the site, you will see it isn't just another "cookie cutter" guild. WE welcome people who are serious about Aion but who also realize its a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Check us out.

Federation Captain or a Klingon Warrior?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 8/05/08 12:00:06 AM
I woud think they would give us the choice of many different races. Personally no matter how many choices I have, Im always going to choose Starfleet. I love what it stands for, I love the intergrity of its members. Then again, I'm sure all the races will have their own strengths and weaknesses. I was going to mention: It would cool to be able to choose the Borg. But one, the borg would have been destroyed by then. Two, actually... playing as the Borg wouldn't have been very fun.... |

I am planning on dual-boxing this game but I'm not quite sure what to expect. It doesn't seem like a combat system that I can just sit back and auto attack something so I am guessing I won't be using my chanter much for buffs. Instead I plan on using it for crafting, gathering resources, AH camping and getting ToD's and whatnot. Also, its been mention quite a few times in this thread that the Chanter's mantra will be the biggest use of dual-boxing. Each character will be able to have two mantra's per chanter for up to four mantras per character if you had two chanters present. Tri-boxing anyone? |

This made me lol! I played ffxi for 4 years on the Caitsith server. I decided I was just too addicted and needed to stop before the latest expansion came out. I have tried a few other MMO's to repace ffxi but I haven't really found anything that has held my attention. I also enjoyed the need to work together and that is what is making it so hard to find another MMO that satisfies. I went from L2 to Tabula Rasa and most recently quit AoC. AoC almost did it for me but the game just lacked that deeply fantasized world that I have come to enjoy. I have come across more ffxi players than anyone else while navigating the forums and chating with my guild. I sure hope the ffxi vets can accept that this game won't be ffxi , but it will be fun! |
