Just got a vent setup.  Come by and chat with us.  Details at our main page

I played @ PAX as well.  I also got in on the free play and found it enjoyable.  Tbh, Aion is just going to be an MMO to hold my interest until the Rapture comes out but I think I'll have fun in the interim.

Here are a few numbers to keep in mind:
Lineage II
Korean Open Beta - July 1 '03
Korean Release - Oct. 1 '03
US Open Beta - Mar. 28 '04
US Release - April 27 '04

My guess is Aion will come out Jan '09 in Korea and March '09 in US. Then again, L2 didn't come out in the US until 9 months after Koreans OB so I am guessing worst case scenario: July '09.

I got a chance to sit down with 5 different devs and ask some questions for Aionsource and my legion and in-game housing was one of them and idk where you got your info people, but in-game housing won't be in launch and there are no plans for in-game housing in the future.

Actually, I think quite the opposite.  I have played as an Assassin and a Chanter and both swung pretty fast.  Infact, I've heard the exact opposite argument made that people are affraid this game will be a button masher since the timers are so fast in-between melee skills.  The auto attack combined with the constant skills avaliable make this game anything but slow imo.  Stick around and give it a shot, I'll bet you change your mind ^_^

New Podcasts are up on the site now.  An interveiw with Yakuzan and a report I wrote up about Aion during my PAX visit.  Check us out!

I got about 3 hours total @ PAX.  I'll write a littel report of my own tomorrow.  Just wondering what Aion goodies you walked away with?  I got 4 shirts, 1 hat, 8 buttons, 2 bracelets, two signed pictures of the female models @ GC '08, a big Aion bag and a keychain thingy.  Also, I managed to get my hands on a Aion Media Pack DVD and A 2008 NCsoft Press Kit DVD.  The CDs im pretty sure I wasnt suppsoed to get, but I just asked as many people as i could until I finally found someone who got them for me

I can vouch for this #.  There was a character creator DL that was going around, allowing ppl to customize Aion characters.  I don't realy know many of the details about it, the downloads were on our guild website, everyone seemed to get it to work except me.  Anyways, the creator alone took up 3 gigs and we had someone who was playing in CBT3 who was complaining of the 20 gigs it took up.

From that G4 MMORPG report Aion special, the devs said that the game could probably be released right now, but they want to make sure they release a very polished game.  They seem to be learning from other games' mistakes, thank goodness ^_^

I think AoC has the best graphics out there for an MMO atm.

I am happy to hear that end-game won't be held exclusively in the Abyss.  I was kind of thinking that I would be spending pretty much everyday in the Abyss once I hit max level, that was kind of disheartening.  One of the main reasons why I chose Elyios was because of the lush beautiful environment they inhabit, it would have been a shame to abandon that environment later in the game.

From what I've read, Aion could be released tomorrow if need be, but NCsoft is pushing to truly release a polished game, not a 1/2 completed one which requires 50 patches every week.  Also, the very loose NDA which NCsoft has in place with Aion is a good sign that they aren't ashamed to show the public what is going on.  A good example of this is AoC which had an extemely tight NDA and tried to smash all vids and info coming out of their CBT and ended up releasing a game that wasn't close to being completed.  The "preview events" are planned for early '09 so I would speculate that it will be relased around Q2 '09, but again, that is just specualtion.

Well, tbh I actually enjoy games with long grinds.  It means that most people you see with a maxed class usually know what they are doing because it took them so long to reach that level.  Obviously, there are always going to be ppl who, no matter how much time spent playing a class, will always be clueless but it seems that there would be less of them if a long grind is required.  It also gives me more a of a sence of accomplishment, I played AoC for 1 month and had a maxed class, it took me about 9 months in FFXI, maybe longer, it was so long ago.  There just wasn't any satisfaction in getting to max level knowing that anyone who puts in 3-4 weeks of gameplay can accomplish the same thing.

Well I think Aion is the closest MMO to looking like that video.  It isn't going to be EXACTLY like that of coarse, I don't think that it what the topic implies.  I'm also not understanding the hate from this thread.  I am personally relieved that there aren't 9,354,457,865 WoW comparisons in this forum like there is on Aionsource  and if I could choose between the two I would take FF>WoW comparisons anyday.  I guess you just can't please some very negative ppl.

Lol testing only in Korea, because they know it's a crappy grinder, and Koreans eat that garbage up.  If they tested in NA or EU they'd have to deal with angry people asking why the game is such a grind.

Well even if this ignorance turns out to be true, I'm still going to play.  I like grinding ^_^ I doubt that will be the case though.  Ppl in cbt3 were getting to max level by the end of the testing.  I enjoy long grinds because it means most people who have characters at end-game at the very least, have put in sufficient time to get to know how their class works.

I think it is probably hard to create a game where people are recongnized by their appearance rather than the name above their character.  I've played some games that have had character creation that gives people the option of looking different from everyone else and a few people do it but no matter how many options that are provided there will always be people that look like each other.  Because people don't want to take a chance at looking different? Tbh, idk but it never fails, every MMO, even next gen ones seem to have the same cookie cutter characters not because tthe option isn't there, people just don't use the option to look different.  granted, some of the options are rediculous and veryfew ppl would choose some of them.

Well the "preview tests" will begin in q1 of '09 so I am guessing it will be released in q2, just my opinion though.

Well it is my understanding that there wasn't much content 35+ in CBT3 because NCsoft didn't want to reveal much mor ethen they did and still wanted to give CBTers something to look foward to come release.  Anyways, regardless of what I hear, I will play and find out for myself come release day ^_^

And how exacty do you know, "There is a lot of beta still needed"  No, I haven't played either but just the fact that NCsoft is done with beta, kinda leads me to believe, they don't need beta anymore.... idk just a wild guess >.>

Like FFXI?

Oh yeah, I've seen that.  It isn't confirmed that this video is related to the new MMO though right?  Even still, everytime I see it, it brings me back to the good ole' days.  I will like AIon im sure, but no game will stop me from playing the new SE MMO ^_^
