I think the failcom avatars are ridiculous. If you don't like AoC, fine, go play something else PLEASE. We really don't need another SWG where the trolls waste their time whining for years.

Famine wasn't vague, most of the questions were answered in posts before, as he stated. The update is being tested NOW, and is going to be live within the next two days. How much more specific do you want him to be? Do you want when the patch is going to be up down to the second? well that's not going to happen, because if there was some sort of problem, you all would just whine more. Funcom messed up at launch, but I think they're doing the best they can.

Nobody gives a rats ass if you don't like an avatar, post on another forum if it causes you frustration.

Nobody forces you to read this forum.

Famine is ALWAYS vague, get real. The only whiner here is you, a foolish individual with to much blind faith and a napoleon complex.

Being as vague as humanly possible is a great way to insult and drive off remaining subscribers.

You guys just don't learn, do you Famine?

FC talks about how they've learned from AOs mistakes, yet here they are making nearly every one of them again with AoC, ruining an IP that clearly should have gone to a studio worth its salt instead of one with a history of piss poor development and customer service.

You also might want to suggest that FC not send EE out to tell bold faced lies to press and community correspondents. He does the worst PR of anyone in the industry, and is single handedly making your company look even worse that it does on its own.

Christ sakes, I mean the patch notes as a good example, vague garbage that looks to have been written by a fifteen year who cant even stutter half of it out in proper english. WAR has beta patch notes that are TEN TIMES as detailed as your post-launch notes, thats not a good sign for FunCom.

Pathetic at the very least, you all should be ashamed with what you've created, its barely a shell of what it had a chance to be if an actual reputable studio had handled it.

Give an amateur a contract, expect amateur results, as seen with AoC. You end up with a company that lets angst riddled teens moderate there official forum, some of who flamed the game within days of being made moderators, if thats not some of the least sound business thinking I've heard, then I just don't know what is.

You are not saving money using those volunteers, they are ruining the already struggling reputation of your company. Take note and correct the problem before it gets worse.

Folks,

Okay, it was a wild and crazy weekend in WAR and while some of you might be tempted to go all Samurai on us for a couple of the bugs, overall things went very, very well. As long-time readers of my notes now, I won’t do a Nick Winters and we are anything but pathological liars so we’ll always own up when we make a mistake and we made a couple here. So, let’s talk amongst ourselves and have a little chat about the top nine list of the biggest issues and where we stand in regards to them.

(1) Client Crashes – I’ve talked about this as one of the reasons why we didn’t release the NDA until recently. Here’s the current status.
- Just a little too many currently. While we are better off than we were in beta, we must do better still before release.
- A number of players will lower spec machines had more CTDs than higher spec machines.
- Number of fixes already in pipeline. They are working their way through our testing servers and will be pushed to the players once they have been vetted internally.
- Engineering time for CTD issue has remained heavily committed; our top engineers are working on the various issues.

(2) Monster Pathing and AI – Well, what can I say other than not even all of King Tut’s wealth could have made us feel better for messing up on this one. Well, maybe all his wealth. ?
- “Yes, that monster seems to be behaving a little oddly”. Monster responsiveness was very sketchy, odd pauses and tethering issues.
- “Oh, was I supposed to go in that direction?” Pathing sometimes wonky - mobs get stuck or go in wrong direction.
- Utter confusion at times as both monsters and pets will engage and disengage seemingly at random
- Internal server optimizations last week broke the pathing/AI. And I mean really, really broke it. This truly was a “Opps, we broke this code” moment for us and we don’t have many of them.
- Going to ensure that this problem is fixed this week. As I said in my first Preview Weekend, this is a major concern for us. Fortunately we have no underwater combat in this game or some of the NPCs may have been appropriately dubbed land sharks.

(3) Pet Responsiveness – With similar issues to Monster Pathing and AI, this was not our finest hour.
- Need to transfer "combat responsiveness" fixes to pets - have pet move immediately on button press.
- “Oh no, Mr. Bill!” Pets suffer from same pathing and lack of response as general monsters. Pets hopping around like they were headed to Del Staters.

(4) Global Cooldown Timers –This seems to be a hot topic for players to talk about. However, things aren’t always as they seem.
- Reality and perception are two different things, Warhammer has a GCD of 1.4s, WoW has 1.5s
- “Ability not ready” messaging needs to be improve, a sound effect if Global Cooldown in effect, maybe more cowbell?
- Need to improve on the feeling of sluggishness of the GCD and UI. Bug with display where our timer shows 2s when it is really 1.4
- The next best thing to a queue is? We will add in better "slop timer" to allow players 0.3s extra to pre-queue a second ability followup.

(5) Better animations
- So much more coming in the next two versions of the client. We are currently incorporating serious amounts of new animations into the game. Hopefully nobody will sneak a coneheads model into the game.
- Look at what my XXXX does now? Over the next month we will address many class-attack specific issues across all 20 careers.
- “U think you can dance?” Nope, but we have added new racial animations for movement, fidgets and redid some emotes.

(6) Texture Blurring
- Textures are currently cached in a manner that results in blurriness on entering a region.
- We will look at adding a client scalar.

(7) Client Performance – This is one of those issues
- Need better scalers on effects, sounds, graphics, etc to help lower end machines (already lots of additions to coders)
- This thing loves memory like Dan Aykroyd loves bass. We have already improved the memory consumption of the client and taken 100M out of current test best.

( Targeting, Camera, etc
- Currently our targeting system differs from many MMOs in terms of our features and how we go about things. We will identify and make a more standard initial setup but allow flexibility.
- Will add additional keybinding selections to allow flexibility

(9) Renown rank gear
- Unfortunately, a new bug (well an old bug we fixed and then managed to break again) which allowed Rank 10 RR 6 players can go to Tier 2 to get better gear and then come back to Tier 1 and own scenarios. We are currently working on a fix.

I hope you enjoyed the Preview Weekend and we thank you for your interest and we hope, patronage of our game.

Guess what folks, that’s the news and I am outta here!

Mark

P.S. The reason for all the Saturday Night Live references was that a poster or two dared me to work a certain phrase into the update. I kinda took that and ran with it.

Seriously, can we say night and day on Developers communicating with players?

Mythic is telling us where they are screwing up.

Funcom is hyping stuff that not in the game.

Exactly, like apples and oranges they are so different, Mythic is quite refreshing after the debacle that was, and is, AoC.

My CE has long been paid for, no regrets.

Three close friends from "that other game" are also leaving it with me to head to WAR, they have preordered SE copies and will be there for OB and HS with me.

The game is quite amazing at this point, and is easily better than anything released since WoW, imho.

The truth about the Warhammer community, from my own personal experience, is that people don't talk to each other... Almost not at all..... I've had so many tells completely ignored, even when i could see the guy I'm talking to is ATK for sure.

Your not seeing the WAR community, you have seen WoW players that were checking out WAR, as ridiculous as this sound it is the truth - PW was a cesspool of WoW fanbois looking for somewhere to jump ship and then crying when things didn't play out exactly the same way as there favorite "other" game.

I just hope that this was the beta community, testing and finding out about the game and just being so wrapped up in that....

Had you been in Closed Beta, you would not have experience the above issues, the Beta Community is extremely helpful. You had a bad experience due to an influx of angst riddled teenagers that flooded the PW servers.

Being outplayed doesn't mean the chance never existed, just that the player failed to grasp the opportunity for victory when it came.

Losing is part of the game, learn how to win, makes things alot more entertaining.

I love how players have something against casters, plz dont cry,or else mystic will do what funcom did, they will start messing with the classes and F&^% everything up....shhhhh

No, they won't.

The difference is simple, Mythic has developers with three digit IQs and working brains, FunCon can barely scrape up PR staff that are more intelligent than a glass of water and there dev team is the equivalent of a poo flinging primate at your local zoo.

No contest.

Good MMORPG. Good Launch. Could be Great.

Are you describing AoC? because that sure isn't the game I've played since beta.

Poor launch, stability issues and crashes are abundant to this day, latency spiking through the roof, billing errors and funds being taken after cancellation has already gone through, etc..

I certainly don't agree with it being a good mmorpg, nor stable in the least, and my system is freshly built (not a walmart special).

If what they have done so far to "fix" performance is considered the Full Force of there development team(s), then the game is much worse off than I ever considered it to be.

Considering the outcry for transfers, etc.. this comes as no real surprise.

and he also saying its good enough for people to shit there pants even maybe twice.

lol man i feel sorry for you guys.

i bet we willa t least se epublic ttesting start /clan beta

I feel sorry for people that take the word of a company that repeatedly lies to its fans.

But thats just me.

Keep on feeling sorry, because when nothing happens again this year, you'll still blindly follow the game as if it was the next messiah into the new year and beyond. Its just the way truely foolish people are, no fault of your own I'm sure.

Before anyone flames me... I have never played AoC, I have it on order, I will give it a try, But I for one am getting sick of all these "AoC Fails" "AoC sucks"
You have your opinions, To other people the game my be what they want, Just because someone likes it, You call them Fanbois or whatever.
Soo putting it that way, You play your game you like are you a fanboy for that too? I'm sure you are. Because nothing can beat that game can it?
AoC i'm willing to give it a try, If I don't like it, I wouldn't spam it all over the forums, That's just childish. If you don't like it, Keep it to yourself, I visit these forums like virtually everyday and I see ALOT of AoC flames and i' getting annoyed with them.
I persoanlly think the mods here should just straight up delete them with no question. Comparing WoW and AoC is rubbish too, They are 2 different games. May look the same, But how does that make it the same game? "AoC vs WoW" this is total bullshit. "OMG AoC is a CLONE of WoW!"
Just please people stop with all these useless post, AND no i'm not part of AoC team, I'm not a AoC fanboi. Before you lot accuse me. Infact i'm nothing to do with it.

Whats worse,

Someone who has actually played the game giving an informed opinion after the fact.

or

Someone who has never played, coming on an online forum to complain about people who actually have a right to complain doing so.

Yet another senseless whine thread, you claim you wouldn't come on the forums and act childish, but thats exactly what you have done with your own thread. Pot meet kettle.

Having played a Witch Elf.

OK, so you have an invis, but it doesn't last that long and it's on a long timer.  But you do get a bonus if you use a skill while stealthed.  There are different skills which give you different buffs.

But here is the problem.  So you stealth up, hey that group of 10 healers and 30 bright wizards can't see you. Fun!.  Let's, sneak up on them.  So you go up and WAMO, take of 5% of someones health because WE has not burst damage.  Now you have 20 bright wizards all targeting you.

You cry, delete and reroll a tank.

Actually it does have uses.  But the above does happen.

Witch Elves have the most burst of any career in the game, you were clearly outplayed.

Stealth is used to close distance with an opponent in WAR, allowing you the opportunity for a surprise attack. It is not for hiding or permanently using as a crutch/safeguard against getting killed.

If you thought you were going to stealth into a group of 30+ players and take one out before they noticed, then you need to realize what the game is that you are playing, this is not some face melting easy mode pwnfest like Warcraft.

You made a huge tactical error, and it bit you in the ass, thats no fault of the career.

There are no Stealth classes per se, 2 classes the Witch Hunter and the Witch Elf can stealth.  However it is a very limited stealth and by no means is it the center peice of the class.  If you try to play either class as a pure stealther you will get steamrolled over and over and over and over again.

Exactly, the above quote by Green Chaos is a good example of someone trying to play the career like a traditional stealther would be played, when the concept is nothing like previous implementations of the mechanic in other games. As such, the experience was less than adequate.

Yeah, except that they do burst out into flames all the time. I was there and know better. Bad crappy forum is bad and crappy.

That would be true, if WHA were a bad and crappy forum, which it is not.

It is much better moderated than here, rules are followed by the majority of the community users, other than the expected odd bad seed. One cannot even begin to compare the two because the difference is like night and day.

Sure, if you are a troll it won't be the place for you to hang out, but if you are not then its easily one of the best fan forums available. The staff is top notch, and take the time to actually converse with the users, I have personally received praise from Moderators on WHA for helping them out during hectic times.

I wouldn't even consider spending my own time and effort to assist this forum in any way, one is a cesspool, the other is a freshly filled, warm bubbling jacuzzi.

I find that extremely hard to believe, either the Order you were squaring off against were the biggest cowards the server had ever witnessed, or you are fabricating the whole event.

Everything else, I agree with :)

To me, it make it feel more like you're facing an army of them. The concept of Warhammer Table top...

I agree, though its worth noting that most of these kiddies couldn't care less about reading a book or playing a tabletop game (and probably never have or will), so they cant be expected to understand why WAR is what it is.

Old school TT players like myself however, are shitting a brick over what we see, beauty is all in the eye of the beholder. This is the electronic representation our game, most of us have been waiting well over a decade to see something like this come to pass, alot of us since the days of MuDs being the top end in online fantasy games.

Its not a PvP game, it is an RvR game, there is a MASSIVE distinction between the two.

Don't listen to them.  For years we've been hearing, "Oh just wait till the NDA drops, they just can't tell you how great the game is yet."  Well now the time has come and those who still can't except that war isn't the best thing since swiss chocalote will be in denial.

Are you blind? the game is receiving more praise for its beta than any mmorpg released over the last 5 years.

Not to mention, its hard to consider you a credible source, when you cannot even spell chocolate correctly.

Piss poor trolling attempt guy.

FACT - Vast majority of players are tired of the same level based grind fest, kill X and rinse repeat Y amount of times before you may proceed.

FACT - The majority of WoW player base WILL NOT leave their fully developed characters just to start another level based grind all over again.

FACT - WAR lacks innovation and creativity, the vast majority of players want something new, not the same fantasy setting killing animals for X amount of times just to advance in levels.

FACT - The MMO market is starting to realize the lack of innovation and creativity and some of the new upcoming titles are proof, This will make WAR and any other WoW cookie-cut level based clone a short lived shelf life!

Nothing listed there is factual at all, its strictly biased personal opinion.

Get real.

Its only the download on the 18th, open beta's start date has not been announced yet.

Whos joining one and why?

Im not and my reason is im casual whilemost guilds want to be hardcore RvR, yes the game is gonna have alot of pvp to it but im not into that.

Please lets hear everyones opinions :)

You are going to be quite the disappointed customer if pvp isn't your thing and you expect WAR to tide you over as a PvE game. Sure, there is PvE content, but the entire game is based on RvR.

Even on core servers, where you can flag/unflag, certain areas you WILL be flagged for RvR regardless of whether you want to be or not, and not all of these can be avoided.

When all your friends are sieging keeps and fortresses, and you are killing mobs and doing PQs, you just might find that you want to check RvR out, I assure you the first time you fire a ballista or cannon and take out an enemy player it will have you hooked :)

Or perhaps dumping hot oil on an enemy is more your thing?

Its not the giant gankfest one would expect, and teamwork will be better than people anticipate, you can also escape pretty well anytime you want as any career, so long as you have the good judgement to know when to retreat and when to stand your ground.
