I was actually stunned at how the OP was unable to articulate even one specific problem with SWTOR beyond a general sense of betrayal and a feeling that 2014 wasn't as good as 2013.  Usually when people write these sorts of things they have a long list of very specific grievances they've been nursing for months or even years.  It's almost shocking to see so little detail in one of these "I quit" posts... which makes me think the OP doesn't actually have a any specific problems with the game and will be back in a few months.

^ this .........

It's Smed, you dunderheads.

If you still liked PVP in this game for some reason, here's a significant QoL/borderline advantage in capping/interrupting cappers that punishes you for having alts. No bueno.

That ability would only be relevant in open worlds. It would never be enabled in any arena pvp. Have had the rocket boots on all toons and never been able to use them in pvp. So why would they start now with this ? Very misleading statement. This is the same mechanic as the rocket boots in fact, that is now open to vehicles. Consider it a minor convenience and not a necessity. BTW like all new items , given time the price will drop. Time to find something else to bash EA/Bioware about. This certainly isn't it.

hi guys, i have looked on the net for an answer and couldn't find one.

is there valor ranked gear or is the best pvp gear the ranked warzone gear.

In the pvp area you'll find Jensen ( I think that's his name ), use him to convert War Zone ( WZ ) comms for Ranked War Zone ( RWZ ) comms the ratio is 3:1 .  In your inventory you'll see a tab, that says currency. This will tell you how many WZ and RWZ comms you have. They cap out at 2750 and 4500 respectively, trade comms for gear. You can only get comms by pvp'ing, doing the dailies and weaklies. The Vendors are there in the pvp zone for the gear. So after all that, you can see that the currency used for pvp is completely diiferent and not connected to any form of pve.

I guess it would be much to difficult for the devs to log in their own characters to test and get detailed information from que times when they can ask players to do the job for them.  Maybe they're short handed.

When they brag that a Starbucks staff is bigger then the Dev staff for this game is it any surprise that they ask players to do the research for them ? It may be that PWI want the game shuttered. especially if all that's left are Lifers and they are the only one the new content is rolled out for. They have two choices. Either shutter the game or get lifers to cough up money.

You may have a key logger on you system or you're lying. EA doesn't do this by accident. I'm not the cops and I don't care which it is. If you been found to be hacking or doing any of what is claimed in any EA game then they will apply it to all EA games. That being said if you bought gold from any site , they sometimes use player accounts to advertise. Whatever the story it's best settled with EA's customer service and ask for details and any information they have to back allegations and help you resolve it.. Be aware though this is not a innocent until proven guilt situation. EA is judge and jury and they are the ultimate arbitrator. So mind your P's and Q's when speaking to them. Otherwise good luck or enjoy never playing another EA game. Consider also changing your IP address, email accounts ect ...

Having trouble with PvE queues?

Please report here which queues you are not able to queue up for due to lack of other members joining your PUG.

Please include only the queues that are not popping within a reasonable amount of time, please do not include any queues that are functioning normally or only take 1-2 minutes to pop.

Queue Name: (Which PvE event?)
Level Type: (Normal, Advanced, Elite?)
Average Wait Currently: (How long aprox do you wait now?)
Average Wait Previously: (How long aprox did you used to wait?)

Thanks everyone!

So it would seem that Cryptic is finally waking up to realize they screwed the game royally by changing the difficulty on the queued events while reducing the rewards.

I guess Geko's comment that the empty queues are a "reporting bug" doesn't hold water.

Basically a sign that the game is dead or dying. Only people left are Lifer's who return intermittently for new content and those not interested in the grind. They've just been in denial for so long. They thought with enough time and effort they could fix a badly designed game full of bad design decisions with enough Star Trek window dressing no one would notice. Meh, I'm surprised it's lasted this long. I wonder if CBS extended the option for 5 more years ? Hope not.

When I played, the only thing to do at max level was warzones. Seems like a bad idea not to build on the ersatz endgame of SWTOR.

SWTOR just ain't a PvP-oriented game. It's a story-heavy, solo-friendly PvE game with PvP tossed in as a marketing check box. Some people seem to have a hard time with that.

And some people seem to think unless its a games main focus that pvp is irrelevant. I disagree. Tons of people do PVP and its well past time for some new maps.

Yeah that being said the last new map they added is a failure, absolutely a pile of crap map. I spend a lot of time in pvp, only because pve is a bit dull once you've conquered the content several time. The only limiting factor to pve is the competency of the group. Which in fact applies to pvp . Just the time invested in a pvp match is a lot less then doing pve content.

Brad McQuaid , those are the 2 words that make me avoid any pc game he's involved in. If people didn't learn about who and what he was during the Vanguard fiasco, then you deserve to have your money taken.

Honestly, they had to do something.  Most of the people left playing are either F2P or lifers so revenue is drying up.

Can't believe no one saw that coming ?

Was wondering about this . I often see games criticized for having bad or "clunky" UIs and somewhat less often see UIs praised but have very rarely seen people go into detail about what they like or dislike about said UI designs.

Personally I look at UI as a tool. My main pet peeve is when I feel like devs make UIs harder to use for strictly aesthetic reasons. Like hiding things and forcing you to click many extra  times to get at something just to avoid any screen clutter. The other obvious annoyance for me is when a UI has clearly been designed with  consoles in mind. If you port your game to the PC you should make a mouse and keyboard friendly UI for it.

I like flexibility and I mean a lot of it. I like my UI to be movable and keep the main view area clean as well as the upper areas and peripheries. It must be resizable and be able to reshape. I prefer bars , but blocks work as well given the some game mechanics. Since a lot of MMO have sequenced events or action , that's how I like to arrange them if marcos aren't available. I also like mod-able UI. There use to be some very talented people in gaming who made great UI's for games. Vanguard was last game I played with a horrible UI , but greats modded UI's that enhanced the game. I do think the advent of consoles has killed this aspect of UI's and gaming. Closest game I've stumble across that has a UI , that's even moderately adaptable has been SWTOR. Saying that, using the term moderately might be an exaggeration.

If you're on Bastion , you can wander through mine anytime. It's open and can be accessed from the fleet or Tat residence listings. Enjoy. It's not bad in my opinion. Somethings I would do differently if I had more flexibility with the placement items locations.

I have not had time to verify this yet but apparently with the movies in the works, disney has commented on a full swg reboot.

Its ok you can pick your chins off the floor now :D

Since there's no link, it's probably a troll thread. I just feel the need to say ; Lmao ! Seriously ? This is absolutely farcial. Just like EQN was going to be the spirital successor to SWG on console , lol. Wait , I have something even funnier to remind people of. EA is in charge of any Star Games for console and PC. SWG was a joke that would never fly today, for so many reasons. I played SWG up to and a week into NGE. On the bright side Sony won't have a hand in any game Star Wars games for a while/probably ever. (Competitiors with Disney in the movie realm, can't see them ever turning there most prized possession to the competition to profit from ever. ) Probably the best part of this theoretical statement. Food for thought. Lmao.

I understand the OPs problems with SWTOR. It's by far one of the worst examples of F2P in the industry.

  First things.

   Not base.

What .

Yeah I game.

The problem is I paid $80+ for the game, now it's F2P that isn't taken into consideration anywhere so what I got and paid for then I don't have now. Me and somebody who just heard about the game now get the exact same start except I paid $80 and he didn't.

So what it boils down to is you played your month, which all MMO's do free, regardless of box cost . Then you're required to sub to continue playing. You decided you were going to quit well into the game, obviously , and now feel like for $80 you should've gotten more? Not sure how that works. The pay model is pretty standard in SWTOR as in any MMO. Not sure how as someone who quit should be entitled to something because they returned. That's not standard practice in any MMO. If you maintained your sub and didn't play you have a pile of cartel coins. SWTOR didn't have a lifetime model of sub, so basically you feel you should get something because you bought the box and unsubbed for however long. That would be a new pay model for MMO's and it would be a failure. BTW the $80 got you some in game benefits that others perhaps didn't as in unique.

F2P players have no idea how good they have it these days because back in the day sub mmos only had a 7 day free trial and then you had to sub if you wanted to keep playing it.

My point is the complete opposite of this though, I'd rather pay $10-$15 a month and be equal to everybody else than being able to potentially spend thousands of dollars in a cash shop and being able to level 12x faster than others just because I paid.

The cash shop has no bearing on your play. Subscribers get the full game and benefits. The point of the F2P model is that it's a sampler. It isn't meant nor does it encourage players to stay in the F2P status. EA wants you to sub. If you are a sub you get the 12x xp boost, it's not something you buy in the cash shop . It's to encourage returning players and existing players that would like to get caught up before the level ceiling goes up. EA doesn't give a rats ass about F2Players. People complain about customer service. As a sub , never had an issue other then perhaps wait time. The fact is and the reality is that that F2P is an actual hindrance to enjoying the game. EA puts forth no effort to accommodate people who want use services/play that they don't pay for. The philosophy boils down to :  Don't pay , don't expect anything. Kind of hardcore in a style that's realistic and obviously not appreciated by those that feel entitled.

Wow , you consider this new news ? Cryptic/PWI = greedy ? Anyone that's dealt with PWI knew this already. Cryptic is greedy ? Not a revelation either. Recall them selling beta access ?  There were so many incidents after this that indicated where this game was going. Not sure why you're surprised and or disappointed/angry. Cryptic has never been good about fixing bugs, go back through the forums.

You've recently been posting on these forums cheerleading and promoting the game. For years I've been posting that Cryptic is a POS company run by disingenuous group of corporate accounts/managers. You can complain all you like. They won't hear you and frankly they don't care. They never have and never will. They have an agenda to extract the maximum amount of currency from you as they can. To believe otherwise is naïve. So many STO fanbois end up bitter and angry. STO is not Star Trek, it's Cryptic's version of a way to make money on the cheap. They'll trot out a dev with a mea culpa and PR written explanation to try and soothe the savages. Unfortunately if it wasn't for the IP name stuck to the game it would've been abandoned long ago.

As many times as they screwed over the player base , I'm surprised anyone still plays. I love how people believe free to play actually means free.

P.S : I suspect they did the calculations of the player base and decided it was time to try to make the lifers cough up some cash.

that would actually make me try this finally..did it in swg..curious if they ever added this feature (know it wasn't when game came out)

cant find anything saying u i assume u cant it still set paths u can explore on planets? is it free roam etc?

No, it's not SWG and will never be.

I played VG at launch , hung in there while they cleaned it out, left after maxing 4 toons and fully raid geared. Came back when they added new content and did those raids.

Seamless world would be a very liberal term for the chunking process as I would describe travel the world. It could be extremely harsh.

Also falling through the world was and intermittent problem. Nevertheless the game was extremely enjoyable and rich in content scenery and graphics.  remember the awe of some of the scenery of this game when graphics cards caught up to the load this game could put on them. It may have been too heavy a game for the majority of rigs out there at launch. As graphics cards improved so did game play.

The raids were tough and required thought, planning attention and skill. In the last 6 years I've yet to experience a game as challenging, sadly.

For all it's warts at the beginning it morphed into a good game. No game to date compares in crafting or diplomacy or the mini games that could be found. There's a lot that can be taken form the game, such as: who not to put in charge of development. Use development time properly. Plan properly.

Last time I played the Ship to Ship combat was horrible.  They need to overhaul that system.

They can't.  An unfortunate choice of game design and engine. They used a modified version of CoX and basically took CO and slapped new graphics on it. It's the biggest problem with the game. Overhaul the way it needs to be, will never happen. What you see is the way it is and will be. IMO SFC III had better combat.

Hey folks, just as the tile says, can I please get some tips on MMORPGs with crafting complexity and "minigame" approach similar to Vanguard SoH? Thanks

There's a high degree of probability that EQN will have the same or very similar crafting system. Sony doesn't really do anything overly innovative. With this EQN game it seems they are aiming at borrowing the best features of their best and most successful games and applying it in one game. It'll really come down to how it all functions on their PS 4 and adapts to PC.
