As many posters have stated, dates listed on IGN and other sites are incorrect.  We have not announced a NA/EU release date for Aion other than to say some time during 2009.

The best place to visit for important announcements such as the release date, Preview event information, etc. is the official Aion website.  If the information is not there, it hasn't been announced yet.

Rafmeister, thank you for sharing your experience with Aion at PAX.  It sounds like you enjoyed your time.

The characters at the demo stations all started out at level 12 as we wanted Aion fans to be able to experience the initial stages of the game without the growing pains of the earlier levels.  Level 12 is also after the Ascencion quest so the characters had their wings and could experience flight.

Crafting can be started earlier than level 12, but in a different zone than was available in the demo.

Bigdavo asked about content and character creation.  It is our intention to provide content so that grinding is kept to a minimum, although that is available as an option for those that wish to do so.

Character creation is extremely detailed, there are 24 sliders for facial features, 13/14 sliders for physical features (m/f), and a number of different hair styles.  Facial decoration such as scars, tattoos and hair will be available in the future.  Hair, skin and lip color have a large number of pre-set options as well as palette to chose from.

Sharajat mentioned the difference between some of the industry's big names touting their titles and word of mouth in regards to marketing.  Aion's NA and EU release is slated for 2009; we still have a number of months to build up some hype.  We are thrilled with what players and media are saying about Aion, but are not going to rest on just that alone.  Marketing efforts will ramp up in the near future.

As pointed out in this thread, the release date mentioned on Amazon for Aion is incorrect.  Aion is slated for a 2009 release in North America and Europe.

In regards to server restrictions based on the region (NA/EU) the game is purchased in, a decision in that regard has not been made yet.  When a decision has been reached (as with any major Aion news such as release dates), the best place to go for information is the official Aion website.

About the Wings

The wings appear when your character enters flight mode, uses the Glide skill, or by using the "Boast Wings" emote.  The wings do not display automatically when in combat mode.

The best place to check for a release date is the official Aion website.  If a release date has not been announced, it means that we don't have one yet.

Pre-order dates announcing a release in 2008 are incorrect.  We have recently mentioned 2009 for Aion's release, but nothing more specific than that.

nice video

but they have gone back to the old bat wings any ideer what it's going to be for the final release ?

Unless something changes between now and release, Asmodian wings will be the recently added dark and feathered version.  Unfortunately, I don't know what will happen to the older, leathery version of the wings.

We are targeting Aion's launch for 2009.  I cannot give any specifis beyond that.  Once a date has been set, announcements will be made on the official US and EU Aion websites.  The date mentioned on Amazon is incorrect.

Ayase mentioned Aion being at GC next month as an opportunity for the European community to get a look.  North Americans, don't feel left out.  NCAustin will be showcasing Aion at the Penny Arcade Expo next month. Feel free to drop by the NCsoft booth for a chance to get some nifty swag, chat with members of the NA Aion team but most of all, an opportunity to play Aion and form your own opinions on the game.

If you want to verify a release date, the best place to do so is on the official websites such as http://www.aiononline.com/us/ or http://eu.aiononline.com/en/.

Having said that, the US/EU release date has not been announced other than 'at some point in time in 2009'.

dyakk13 is correct, the majority of NPC vendors are located in some form of storefront, generally indoors.  Stores are not instanced or zoned, simply walk through the open doorway into the building.

I notice the european community manager posts quite a bit in here.  However, the U.S. community manager is rarely (if ever) seen on here.  Is there a community manager for the U.S.  A lot of us over here are very interested in the game, yet, it feels like the U.S. market does not even matter.

Hi Ulrick,

Yes, the US community does have a manager, that would be me. I didn't have the opportunity to make contact with the staff here on MMORPG.com until today. My account has been properly flagged and here I am as a result. Expect to see a lot of interaction between the Aion community and myself.

Efforts to bring Aion into the US community's awareness are stepping up. More details are forthcoming SOONâ„¢ so I can't go into details, but Penny Arcade Expo is the place to be this summer if you are interested in Aion.

Cheers,
