I'm sorry but I have been tricked by this level of hype before and I will not be tricked again. With the (arguably) pay to win model, the incredibly simplistic combat, the unbalanced zerg fest that is WvWvW, etc....I just do not see what the fanatics are smoking.

I have high hopes for Guild Wars 2 but will not be playing until the unrealistic hype is crushed and the game is brought back down to earth.

Why would anyone plan to purchase a pay to win game like Guild Wars 2 and bash any other MMO?

 84 standard servers

 28 light servers

 Asian pacific servers

 1 heavy server

 All were light servers--i imagine this time is non peak for European servers.

 Any game other than WOW would be excited to hold these numbers and that many servers!

Very good point! I play on a constant "STandard" server that is not even considered a Top 20 server (Dark REaper) and the population is very healthy. 65~ on Dromund Kass (Lvl 10-16 planet) 150~ on the fleet, etc....and you can pug just about anything at any lvl range.

Game certainly has stabilized on my server and it is alkways standard. Seeing 86~ standard servers is pretty good. They really do need to get rid of those bottom 28~ or so servers. Like most know, they released the last 20 servers when people were crying about the queue times. Big mistake, and if they did not do that the game would only need to get rid of about 10 servers out of the 100+ in the US.

I have been telling people on this forum that GW2 is pay to win for MONTHS.

All i get in reply is "u troll!1!! go back to WoW go back to *insert random MMO*"

The extent of denial here is incredible. This game is clearly PAY TO WIN. If that is cool with you, then ok. But to deny this fact is the only actual trolling go on right now.

I just hope EA doesnt go with the buy to win method like Anet has with Guild Wars 2.

That is why I am avoiding that game like the plague. No thank you sir! :)

MMO launches are so exciting and fun.

I really don't even consider myself duped by TOR because I enjoyed the hell out of it that first month or so.

The day a new game you've been waiting for is released and you finally load it up the first time... I love it.

I've been excited for so many MMO launches in the past.

I'm excited for Tera for crying out loud.

But when i think about Guild Wars 2, my excitement goes limp :(

I wonder what other things will be left out that ANet said would be available at launch???

Bad sign me thinks. Hold off on your preorder folks, what you are most looking forward too might not actually be in the game :(

Anyway, it seems like those using the "wait and see" method are actually  the majority in this topic. I am glad seeing this :)

Currently, I have seen all the information that has been offered on the winternet pertaining to beta.

Not a single thing seems even remotely interesting atm. I am banking on the fact that Anet is holding back some information or footage that will be revealed closer to launch to actually make me want to buy this game.

As of now however, I have no will to buy it whatsoever.

I know there are a lot of fanboys of this game who are already going crazy about it and calling it the best thing since slice bread. Am I really the only one that is a bit skeptical still?

You guys undertand that you can play less and still have a sub right?

I mean everyone I know is waiting for 1.2 to start again. I wonder if Xfire will reflect that fact that fleet numbers will increase greatly once 1.2 comes out?

Hopefully the Pay 2 Win model was an early April Fools joke or I am not coming close to this game.

This sounds to me like an MMO for all the people who dislike the elitism and time consuming bullcrap that is in other MMORPGs, whether it be PvP or PvE. You don't have the attitude to invest in your skills and make serious changes? Get WoW Clone version 2.0. This game is ideal for anyone, but seems like a good fit for the anyone who enjoys the game and not someone who makes it their life via shirking the everyday social activities of other people, such as personal hygene, working, going to school and being a productive member of society. This seems to be a haven for people who want to have fun.

Yeah, you forgot to sign your post with a carebear stare.

I'm getting tired of that 'carebear' phrase being slung as a slur, so lets meme it up and turn it into a positive attribute.

Especially when the term is used incorrectly. "Care bear" is used to reffer to a player who hates open world PvP. It has nothing to with gear progression, raids or any other such nonsense.

This is wrong on so many levels. Carebear was originally not just for PvP. I understand most of you have not been playing MMOs as long as I have (since the mid 90s) but you should not be spouting misinformation like this as fact.

So far its really shaping into a disapointment. Its one thing maybe doing pvp and having some ranking to go against others, it makes up for me over gear. When it comes to pve though, you need SOMETHING. Cosmetics doesn't do anything at all for me. I want some progress, even if its such a minor bit of progress it makes me feel like I accomplished something. With the 'pay' system as it is, it seems like anyone with money has the power to instantly catch up with any bit of 'gear' they need (weapons having certain damage being what i heard is the only factor) which leads me to wonder... why even play?

 

It really makes me wonder about this games longevity. Sure, we can say we play games cause we enjoy it, but in the end its all about earning something. When all you can really earn is credits (money) which can just as easily be bought through real money, what are you really working to achieve? Theres just nothing... absolutely nothing.Why even invest a lot of time into a game that there really isn't much for me? I'm really not that hardcore into pvp and outside that just nothing really has a purpose behind it. I don't think care bears even want a game where you earn nothing from it. Everyone wants to gain something and it just looks like you really earn absolutely nothing out of your work... zip... zilch... nada...

 

PvP to me is just a side note that is fun sometimes but ultimately not something i can invest 5 hours of my day on and enjoy it. I need more and really I have yet to see what will keep me drawn in. 

 

Sorry rant... in short, no its not for care bears... I have no clue who it is for besides maybe those hardcore maybe wanting to be top pvp? *shrug*

The whole hater thing is nonsense and so is the fanboi BS. What we have are these types:

Misinformed people who still spew opinions as facts, informed people who form opinions, and those who believe something regardless of the facts.They are the agenda driven.

Here is a history lesson, opinion and argument have somehow switched definitions over the centuries. Opinion used to be when someone who was well versed in the facts or was someone with intimate experience to what was needed to be known, explained it to others. Arguments was when you just said things for the sake of creating conflict. As in a court room, you argue the facts. But the witnesses were giving opinions. ie expert credible  testimony.

If someone states an opinion, and is truthful, factually correct, and well reasoned. Whether I agree with it or not, it's not fair to call them a hater or a fanboi. That's not an argument, it is an explanation.

If someone states a prediction, its based on a guess. You can laugh at it or you can agree with it. Some people are better at it than others (fact). Don't see why anyone would label this person either way.

If someone states an opinion, and it's based on nothing that is known at that point, you can laugh at it or you can call it what it is, a troll, a sh!t stirrer, or even a malcontent. These are what mods should be banning or deleting. Not this ludicrous paradigm that was invented by internet evolution of, don't attack others or you will be banned BS. When these threads get posted they are based on nothing but agenda driven nonsense, that in and of itself is an attack, a personal attack on all of us.
