Yes, I am the New guy on this Site I have been bouncing around here looking at the current news on mmorpg's. I coming off a long addiction to UO of 6+yrs, What a nice ride it was -while it lasted! Many other players here are also coming of a game they love for so long because, there old game is either dieing or gone. what a horde of folks now looking for a different game and Finding nothing they are wanting to take the place of there addiction; me included. I also predict a flood of customers to online because, of high energy prices in the world. So in short, that means extra money coming online. ( Hint*Hint* developers/publishers) Reason why the games we want aren't out in my humble Opinion: Copy rights and Product Protection: First Problem Exploiting and Hacking: Second Problem Cost of Production: Third problem Complacent and Focus: Fourth Problem CUSTOMER SERVICE!! If you Have 500,000 customer you best learn to answer phones with real people! I cant think of one single thing that leads to loss of customers more than No customer service! At the very lease have Customer service on some sort of 24/7 chat with quallified personal. If I treaded my customers like Ive been treated when it comes to customer support I wouldnt have any customers..that subject blows me away. In short; Most of you guys that visit here daily -share in these themes. But, what can you do when Entrepreneurs cant compete when there is clearly a customer base of ready buyers sitting on the money...

srwy this post was for: Any Developers out there looking for an idea? (
excuse me a second allow a noob to input some info... I stared a business with a friend: As soon as the money started rolling in he got greedy and started to undermine the business for himself. Seeing as I did most of the leg work, I was luckily enough to see it coming and placed most of the business in my name. He still came off with some of the customers but he is now broke because of his own greed. I lost what I thought was a life time friend. I was warned by many people not to start a business with a friend that you will end up with too much stress and one less friend. when it take a group to make a game, it got to be stressful to the owner of the Idea with mostly no ability to produce the product itself. There isn't any justification for it costing 20 Million to put together any game. Seeing as you have folks going to school to learn programming so they can put ideas to work and get side tracked because all the new opportunities what come flooding in. Now they are worth a lot more than they were a few short years ago. It takes a special group of people to put together a game: A special group of people with the same chemistry and professional morality. In today society its every man/woman for himself. if you don't believe big business (Game makers) aren't stealing Ideas from this board or board alike your dead wrong. Now they may know things about the business I don't; precluding to the fact that pc games aren't being made that customers want. I theorize- they are fulfilling quotas or commitment agree to as they were caught up in greed. Big business only cares about there bottom line and staying afloat. Inclosing, A Business Plan is a must. A game plan is a must. If you Truly have a great Idea, seal it and Protect your Idea. this way you then can promote and shoot from the roof top. Example: Novels and Movies. Often movies are made Based on Books that were written as you all are aware. Even in this business there are law suit of infringement and stealing ideas. Mostly it turns into $$ for the writer of the book or the owner of the book. So protect your Idea first of all.. then advertise every where to see how much feed back you might get on your idea. Too many of us put the cart before the horse. so many people with voice has scream PVP and hack and slash and 3d graphic, this has been sold over and over to big business; only to see that blood and guts gets old. Secondly Online Speed isn't not constant with all customers. They once believed that high speed would be a constant factor when playing online games. Nothing could be further from the truth and has affected the out come of 90% off all the games out there. Your just cutting your customer base by two thirds; when most refuse to play against unplayable odds. Kinda being in a marriage that full of disgruntled feelings- even thought you have all the material things you ever wanted; what good is it to have a dream life- when you cant stand your mate. Again I will try to close with this last thought- I believe online environment is increasingly becoming a hostel world where there is too many conflicting points of view and conflicting cultures. There always someone tiring to create havoc to what is someone else idea of comfort. Until people are satisfied with there own life as they know it and online mmo can separate these folks from the cream of the crop then you have to scratch you head and ask yourself is it worth it to build the greatest thing on earth when havoc hackers will just tear it down. while they enjoy the process of destroying someone else work in the meantime. I don't ever see this problem going away. Unless... Unless mmo game makers have to have 24/7 full staff watching over the ongoing games constantly.. too often they leave it up to written programs to watch there back while they are spending the but loads of cash we gave them, on pretty lil drinks on the beaches of the Caribbean. Money changes people fast ! srwy- I didnt mean to get so far off topic. |

Earth Reborn 2061: The year 2036 Earth is on a collision course with Asteroid Apophis. Apophis is said to strike the Planet on April 13, 2036. Official have warned of Global cataclysmic consequences. Odds of surviving is 20% at best! Take Shelter Before it impacts! In year 2036 Asteroid Apophis Slams into the northern Artic Ocean. Two thirds of all life is gone! All of Earth's infrastructure is gone or at the very least Hidden within the now lush jungles and forest. Fires and acid rain has destroyed anything man made .. With maybe a few remains of some cities left for the plunder. Ash filled the skies that covered the earth for 5 years has since Cleared. The temperatures have been climbing for 15 yrs. Fresh pure oxygen is abundance. Earth Has increased its last known land masses. Oceans are smaller with large lakes and rivers. Earth has become even more fertile than before. Earth is now extremely over grown; very primitive in nature. Its Now 2061 and Earth has been Reborn. New and even better than before; Now it is left up to you to restore culture as you once knew it or do you? Yes, there seems to be survivors, A handful from the space lab and people that fled to old mines and underground structures. Additional there were people that choose to seek shelter in the labs under the oceans. < possible mutants > < also Possible mutant animals to hunt for resources, although not eatable> A few twinkles of hope still remain for mankind, a couple hard drives on the space lab and the Labs underground. Preserving this knowledge is paramount for mankind or is it? < Do people decide to use the technology? Can they even find it? > < What good will it do for the survivors; without tools and the ability to use such knowledge? > Maybe in the future of the of the game players may be in more of a position to use such technology. Keep in mind that players born will have certain skill that was instilled from the recent past or handed down. There will be many skills to choose from. These skills will improve fairly quick but will have only little production increases compaired to a full trained players. The biggest thing is not to miss out on the opportunity by not having enough skill or no skill at all. Seeing as this is a slow moving story line there should a bustle of work being performed. This why we must limit players from just roaming the lands just to discover the land maps too soon. Which mean lots of detail and the importance of having one shard and a 3 toon limit. In today’s world there are much more important thing to worry about like finding food and building new infrastructure. Although primitive - Very important to be careful what type of skill you choose before entering the world, pick a carpenter you have a roof over you head, but how about food.. it is paramount that you stay alive. Your toon will need to eat a fair amount along with pets/npc's that are under user command. Exploring should be the thing to do but the ability to map out will be difficult, although certain structures and paths/roads will be seen when approached, so be careful you might attract someone or Group that isn’t friendly and/or greedy. It will very important to make friends and forge trust between other players. Which means there will be a need for ingame leaders and officials, kings, rulers, clans the list goes on… sheww someone doesn’t pull weight in camp? Umm they might get the boot…Talk about virtual reality~ Structures should be craftable on a ever changing land scape: Changes ingame should develop slow enough for dev to keep up. You may play a solitary life for months and never see the first person/player. Additionally- If you die, you can be reborn but who can say you even get dropped back in anywhere near the same place. You keep knowledge and skills, but that’s about it unless you can get back to what you have made. so in this case there is squatters rights, beside if your even luckily enoughfor someone to come by there path, they are an instant friend or foe - wont be any guessing or wondering. so, Perma death is at play, should you die good luck trying to find your home/ work. Very High risk in PKing new players Note: it should take 10 yrs in rl to totally rebuild earth!
More thoughts and Notes: It should take rl years just to build, populate and make rude world maps which should at best be 25% complete in the 1 or 2 years. Of course this also depends on the number players. Which should have strict rules on how many account you can own.. Uncovering Knowledge: The more one plays; the smarter your character can become and knowledge is the main key how smart can you become with limited ability and tools to learn. Smarts vs. Strength will also effect how you survive for first week.. You will really need to stay focused at the goals at hand.

I sure Like to Find Info on Games or Beta like Society, Building online Communites in more 2d than complete 3d fashion. Is it me or is it that 3d; just seems like they are reaching too hard be too real. It just for some reason just looks weird, like of a better term. But the game concept of Society seems to be the type in very interested in. I saw the Game " Rise " but it seems to have many issues per the commentary. Im an Current Ultima Online Player for 8 yrs now, and looking for a new home. I am willing to pay the subscription fee -obviously. If it is being built here are the clues: world wide, one server/shard type, Claim your own land/lands, Build communities, Collect resources, multiple Characters,a Frugal economy with wealth, Trade with other online players, working together to build vast infrastructure which makes a constantly changing online world, a world no one know the size or map untill it is discoverd and maped by players. <- thinking the map; inplaces are still undiscoverd- sorta like now in rl the amazon, in places still are yet to be discovered my man.. This Needs to be wild by nature or maybe after some sort of astroid hits the current world and leaves behind a handful of people to rebuild the world. A Large world 5 maybe 10 x larger than any map known in MMO. 3d vs 2d is somewhat a problem with camera angles and how it is percieved - perception is everything. Should I keep Dreaming?? |
