This game is sick. It's like a multiplayer Devil May Cry but it's free. Lobotomist is right, MMO is not really the right title for it, but there are servers full of people and you can raid dungeons together.

I've played the game to 30 so far and I gotta say that it's one of the better F2P games I've ever jumped into.

The movement is a bit strange but the combat mechanics are pretty good.  Additionally, the game has a lot of features you would expect in a subscription game, like dungeon queues, in-depth crafting, and pretty deep guild/social systems.

The people who have jumped in and played for 5 minutes really have no idea what they're talking about.

So far the game has not disappointed me, will update when I get to 40.

Anyone that says that this game is grindy has NO idea what they're talking about.

Battle of the Immortals is extremely easy to level in.  I have not had to grind ONCE, and I have two characters that are level 60 currently.

My favorite thing about the game is that if you want to dungeon crawl with your friends, you can do that.  If you want to play it like a traditional MMO and quest, then there's that for you as well.

Those of you who are knocking the game before you even try it.  You're really missing out.

I'm tired of all of these ignorant gamers that as soon as they say "Free to Play" they scream HATED IT.

Props to the author of this article.

Richard Garriot abandoned us.  I want my UO2.  :(

Yeah I thought that it was going to be better honestly.

i really like the star trek movie that just came out, but damn, what a disappointment.  Another wasted IP

Looks like the story isn't TOO Asian:

The world in which BoI takes place is a world called "Motenia", the world of the mortals. The Norse God Loki in his lust for power invaded the mortal realm of Motenia. Several other Gods came to humanity's defense and plunged the mortal world into chaos. This period of time is today known as "Ragnarok". (For those unfamiliar with the term, Ragnarok is a term from Norse Mythology which refers to a series of major events, including a great battle that ultimately results in the death of a number of major figures as well as gods".) This series of battles tore apart the world of Motenia, shattering not only the landscape and continents, but also sealing away various artifacts of power in the process.

Bump?  No one heard about this one?

Yeah.  Nothing really about features or anything in that post.  :\

Just saw this post on the PWE Blog:

Talking about some new title.  Has anyone played the Chinese version of this game?

I'm wondering whether or not I should even waste time looking into this game.

If you think this writer of this article is good you are most certainly naive.  The writer missed the most important point about pvp in this game, it is highly dependent on how much you spend in the item shop.

So if you think you are going to pvp and play this game for free, think again.

Lol.  I'm playing this game right now, level 101.  Haven't spent a dime and pwning just fine in PvP and battlegrounds.

Learn 2 Play nub.

Just a passing thought (that I don't know the answer to off the top of my head):

What is the relationship between advertising expenditures and press coverage? IE is the willingness of publications to review a game related to that games willingness to spend marketing bucks paying for advertising with that publication?

MMORPG covers Free to Play games, and as a result Free to Play gamers come read stuff on MMORPG.  Since Free to Play gamers come read stuff on MMORPG, Free to Play publishers buy ads on MMORPG.

Now just take that flow of events and reverse engineer it.  That's why big major media sites are starting to turn their heads and cover Free to Play.

I've played this game for a little while and even spent some money in it. I felt quite lonely in the game. I loved the music in it, and graphisc were ok. Comparing to Atlantica Online that I started to play about 2 months ago, Perfect World is not as 'alive'.

We're you playing the US version or the European version?  Cause the US servers are pretty damn congested in terms of players.

Also pretty sure the game list needs to be updated as it came out in Fall 2008 if I remember correctly.

Pvp in Perfect World is much like Runes of Magic, it is highly dependent on how much you spend in the item shop.  It has a form of pvp called Territory Wars where your guild controls territory, but again is highly dependent on how many big spenders you have in the guild.

lol sorry but no.  I've been PvPing avidly on Lost City and haven't had to spend a dime on the game.  There are ways to access cash shop items without spending money buddy.

Sorry to say but in my experience playing this game, I haven't been forced to buy a single item from the cash shop.  Those who say otherwise are either idiots, or haven't even really played the game.

I was just browsing though MMOsite.com and I just saw that perfect world is having a closed beta for the US version. This is pretty cool because I played the Malaysia version and it was cool but it had such broken English and the lag was horrible. This version is gonna be completely translated to English and the servers will be hosted here. Check it out if your interested. Registration hasn't started yet though. :( All the info I could find is listed below.

Looks like the rumors are true.

Man thats a cop out. Free is great and grats for making it free but when you dont offer good customer service it turns out to be another game thats crappy.

Man if you dont enjoy doing that then  dont do it. The great thing about WOW is that it gives you alot of options in how you can earn gear. I personally like way and I play very casually.

I learned to organize my time better and then continued to play WOW. Its all about time management.

Nice pics and thanks for the link. This game looks great and if there pvp is as good as they say they probably got a hit. I hope the beta launches soon.
