The Unofficial "I hate SOE thread"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/02/11 1:27:47 PM
I hate SoE for leaving Vanguard the way they did. They accepted the contract to take it over and we are still waiting on them to "Take it over" Its a down right shame. I think they have too much on their plate and cannot cover all they have taken on, |

Take Lord of the Rings online for example. I played since Beta right up to F2P. Used to be alot of grouping thoughout the levels because you HAD to group to finish the book quests. Now you get a buff that you can finish the books solo. My problem with the way Lotro went was you can solo all the way up to Moria instances and not have to group at all til then. Once you need a group to get your Moria gear, noone in the party even knows what or how to use a Conjunction, Tanks are lost because they never had to protect a group, Healers cant keep the Tank alive because they dont know how a Tank operates, Pets aggro everything in an instance because Casters forget to put them on passive. I am not stuck on Lotro with this story, I also Played Rift which I had two lvl 50 toons within a month and my Ranger/Bard had all his T1 gear. Easy. How easy? I work from 6:30am to 4pm and I played a few hours a night usually from 7pm until 10pm. I agree that MMO's now days are "Hit the easy button" which is why I have recently switched my attention to Vanguard, and I am in heaven. I die ALOT, but with the community and gameplay content I dont even care. I am stuck with Vanguard until "they" ruin that one as well. |

@ All posters above. Very Mature thought out replies and I thank you for that. Reading all of your posts and Me being new to SOE, it's too bad the way this game was left virtually un-done. There is so much potential but I guess I am pretty content with what the game has to offer as is. I do see the bugs and the need for a few things that we are forced to make macro's for, or the dreded reboot. I guess we will just have to keep working around them until if ever the game gets the attention it deserves. |

I have to put my two cents in for Vanguard Saga of Heroes. I am a long time follower of Lord of the Rings online since Beta and have since left when F2P went into effect. I was looking for something that came close to the same community and gameplay as Lotro gave me for a few years. Well, what I found was not even close. The below is from my experience in Vanguard with leveling a Ranger to level 26 and still climbing. Crafting - Like no other I have ever seen. Crafting in Vanguard is an adventure all in it's own. I have spent days on crafting and not paying no mind to leveling my toon through adventuring. Crafting is so addicting because it has a quest line that rewards each player with great crafting gear. Crafting Gear determines what grade a recipes outcome will produce "A" Grade being the best, "D" being not bad but could be better. And you can add Attuning Dust to your recipes that add stats. So, one weapon of the same recipe I.E. a Bow, both made to "A" grade can have two seperate stats. like Poison or Crushing Damage. Adventureing - This game was made for those who like to discover. You could end up in a small outpost camp with one NPC giveing a quest. It will leave you saying, Whats going on? only one quest? But once you are out in the field killing these mobs, you stumble on a camp thats not even on the map and pick up ten more quests. Grouping - I recently witnessed a player rage quit for not being able to find a group to quest with. There is a Group/Dungeon finder that has not failed me yet. Most of the time all you have to do is ask in chat for help and someone WILL answer you on how to complete the quest or they will come meet up with you to help. I met alot of players with this tactic that I have added to my Friends list. Diplomacy - I have not been able to persue this aspect for the fact that I have two adventures going on right now. Crafting and Adventuring. But this too has its own quest line that also rewards gear. I was a bit turned off at first by the Isle of Dawn(The Trial starting area) But once you get out into the larger maps past level ten the world is Huge. And if you decide to subscribe to the game you have a choice to start in your Race of choices home town or The Isle of Dawn. I know there is alot of this game I have not covered. but the point is, More need to discover what Vanguard has to offer. I am very pleased with sticking with Vanguard past level ten. Give it a chance, it will surprise and amaze you. Thank you for reading, Zoucka Level 26 Ranger / 23 Carpenter Look me up, I will adventure with ya. |

I broke down and bought FF XIV today after watching a few very long and in depth videos on youtube highlighting the changes in patch 1.18. Appearantly Square Enix has only one payment method which after applying my CC info my account was immidiately blocked for what reason I dont know. On the blocked page was directions on how to un-block my account.... "Your account has been temporarily blocked by ClickandBuy. To unblock your account please contact the ClickandBuy customer service team at service@us.clickandbuy.com or call us at 1-877-265-7821" After calling the 1-877 number and being placed on hold for 20 minutes x2 I finally got to talk to someone from Clickandbuy.com only to tell me I had to wait 3 business days for my micro CC transactions to show up on my bank slip. All this information I was recieving from "Peggy" lol, was in black and white on their webpage hence eliminating the need to phone support in the first place. Worst customer service experiance ever. I bought this game expecting to play it, not play cat an mouse with Customer Support. After 6 hours I have thrown my FF XIV in the circular file never to return. Kain6993 |

General: 2010 Awards: Favorite MMO Company
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/08/10 6:27:33 PM
Read the categories for nomination kiddies. Forthcoming is in the list. That was for all you bitching about why are companies listed that haven't released an MMO yet. If you were in the Beta for Rift you would agree. |

Big f'n deal, I recently tried WoW because there is nothing else worth playing atm. The servers are full of self centered, egotistical kids. Everyone is out for themselves and dont want to play well with others. Right at this moment there are lvl 80's running through the low areas killing everything because they want to experiance the new content? Bull! Start a new toon!
You can have WoW. I shoulda never downloaded it. |

Originally posted by Mattbell69 Whoa, took the words right out of my mouth. I played Lotro since Beta and I have to admit, Lotro has gone down hill imo. I also gave up my subscription and downloaded AOC for the first time and I have to say I am haveing a blast. I am not much of a PvP'er but there is something about swinging a BFH (Big Freaken Hammer) at someone that I cant wait to try. LOL. |

Numbers in for LOTRO F2P Conversion
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 10/08/10 2:06:21 PM
Originally posted by Superman0X Exatclty, Reach lvl 65 and see how long that lasts. Run Sammath Gul 20 times and still not see a Symbol of celebrimbor and on the 21st time roll against 5 other toons and still not win it. Comeing from a dedicated player since CB(but not any longer) LOTRO has turned into a solo rpg until lvl 58 which you run the Grand Stairs numorous times until you get your Moria Armor set. Since all the instances (books) up to lvl 60 have went solo, once new players hit the stagees to NEED a fellowship comes around, they fail because they are not used to fellowing up til now. The best thing I liked about lotro was the seeing how other classes handle different sitruations. But the new crowd does not see that. They jump in a fellowship and when things go wrong they drop group in the middle of a boss fight. Remember when it took 20 times to figure out an instance, Full wipe and went back at it? Well the new players dont get that privelage and I wont share it with them. they dont deserve it. I will leave you with this... I made it to lvl 65 on my last toon (Rune Keeper) withought a single Fellowship skipping all conntent and instances in Moria and headed straight to Mirkwood at lvl 61. For all you new players of LOTRO. Remember what I said above. Good Luck.
