Guild Wars 2: Paid Tournaments Ending
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/26/13 4:45:36 AM
Funny how GW2 was promoted as "The PvP MMORPG" and the sPvP & "RvR" both end up badly and the only thing that keeps the game popular is PvE :j

SOE + MMORPG + F2P/CashShop = FAIL Designers of RoM + Pet emphasis + Cash Shop = FAIL Start saving up your pennies because this ain't gonna be a cheap ride. Could be a decent game as P2P though. |

Why in my opinion people should fund the project
General Discussion « Camelot Unchained 2/17/13 12:06:23 PM
FFXI is a great example of a MMORPG that puts almost all of their resources to create new PvE content and keep the PvE crowd happy. How? Well it's because they didn't waste their time trying to create PvP content for the game.
The biggest flaw with the current/upcoming MMORPGs is that they spend a lot of resources into creating a "hybrid MMORPG" that includes both PvE and PvP. If instead they would choose only to create a PvE mmorpg or a PvP mmorpg they would be able to produce a lot more content for the actual game. Sure the problem in this is that you lose the typical PvP or PvE crowds if you choose one or the other but atleast you can provide one of the best mmorpg experiences in the market for certain players. FFXI is a good example of a game that has such a vast amount of PvE content that puts WoW into shame.
I will be supporting CU on their kickstarter simply because they are mainly saying that "This is a RvR game, if you are looking for PvE go **** yourself" I would also be supporting them if they decide to make a purely PvE game.
If you really want to make the best PvE mmorpg, focus on PvE and ditch PvP. If you really want to make the best PvP mmorpg, focus on PvP and ditch PvE. It's really simple. |

your giving him the money after all he done to warhammer online?

I absolutely loved WAR. It had it's issues but that didn't keep me from playing. Every patch was a step towards better, but unfortunately the population that left never came back. I'm pretty much fed up with hybrid MMORPGs. Either go with PVP or PVE. Not both, derps. |

The amount of people doesn't really matter. The quality of the raid encounters is far more important. Well designed and executed 5-man content is better than poorly done 20-man content. Usually when raid size increases the room for error increases as well. That's why I like content for less players. |

Of course there are "asshats" 40+ but most of the _children_ playing MMOs are really terrible because they can't control their emotions and their social skills are not developed. If you play LoL for example you can easily spot that most of the whining/trolling/flaming players are kids. If there actually was a 18+ rated MMORPG that required an unbreakable verification system for age the community would be a lot better _in a sense_ than any of the existing ones. |

Originally posted by odiasuda That's why the cash shop content should be cash shop only and it should only consist of cosmetical/convinience items. Mixing up in-game auction house with cash shop items ruins the game balance because people simply convert real money to in-game currency and through this on to in-game items. And addition to this all the highly valued items should be bind-on-pickup to not allow people to pay their way to everything. Sure developers need to make their living but the common trend of biased and unbalanced cash shops is toxic. |

The idea behind why P2P games had a better community was based on the fact that you needed are CREDIT CARD to actually play them and adults where quite insecure about giving their CC to children before online payments became more popular. Nowdays there are million ways to pay for P2P games (i.e game cards) that remove the need to actually have a CREDIT CARD or an access to it.
Personally I'd like to see something like they used to have in Korea which is social security identification. Basically you needed to input your personal information/identification to participate in online games and if you were banned you were gone for good and all of your actions could be traced back to you. The prime problem with online communities is that you have zero responsibility of your actions and you are not punished for acting like a jackass while some games even push you to be selfish and ignorants by bad design.

They will completely balls up the monetization and the game will end up like Guild Wars 2 without the box price. |

Not allowed to say anything negative or you will get a warning
Site Suggestions « General Discussion 2/12/13 2:03:46 PM
The moderation is awful on these forums. You pretty much get instantly warned for every single report on your posts. If you try to contact the mods about the warnings they will only send you an automated reply and completely ignore any appeals.
I received multiple warnings from my GW2 posts when I stated the downfalls of the game (which turned out to be true). Best move on these forums is to report everyone who disagrees with out instead of trying to make a proper discussion. If your report goes through they won't post their opinions for awhile, if you try to make them realize how wrong they are you only get warned for flaming. |

Seeing how easily companies do F2P conversion I have began to wonder if they could still provide different versions of the game. The balanced subscription based version and the P2W F2P version of the game. There are many awesome F2P games that a ruined by the P2W cash shop and could easily function as a P2P game. (Looking at you Atlantica Online). |

[Column] General: The F2P Consolidation Trend
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/12/13 1:42:02 PM
Because so many AAA titles are going F2P the quality standard for F2P is raising. This causes the "shit mmorpg's" to slowly die out. Maybe if they made the cash shop reasonable and not P2W they could compete with these AAA titles. |

I don't see anything positive in this system. If you can get everything through playing and you can get everything through paying it's not balanced, not by a longshot. You should be able to earn micro-transaction points in the game by itself not from other players and only allow people to purchase micro-transaction points not to trade them. Simply put, You should be able to get everything in the game through playing. You shouldn't be able to get everything in the game through paying. |

Originally posted by eHug That'll take you awhile. But I'd say you need to farm them and spend gold on broker to actually get those 2k alks. They did improve the enchanting giving you a better chance for upgrading everytime you fail the enchant so it'll take less alks to enchant a full set. But basically you get Alks for playing the endgame and you got higher chances for success now. Also dungeons drop MW'ed items now so selling those will earn you few pieces aswell. |
