Now, I am going to make a website. I am going to need all the info and links you can muster.

This includes images, bad GM help examples, links, just about everything.

Its up now! More on its way! www.failcom.net

Next time make sure you say who you are quoting. Who are you talking about? I have never posted on the MMORPG Warhammer forums..lol

True, i'm drunk as bloody hell, still, i dont recognize it.

I was going to say Badlands but that character looks more advanced.

My best guess is Blade's Edge Mountains, up high.

Why no UI in the videos? I want to see the interface.

Why was there not once a camera centered around "your character"?

It was basically one big tech demo. I have more faith today, but I want to see "real" in game footage with a UI and a camera that looks like it is controlling one person instead of rotating around.

Age of Conan has approximately 185k subscriptions..

I think it is widely accepted by many people to sound intelligent and have the first thing out of their mouth be "that's too small of a sample size". It sounds cool, and sounds like you know what you are talking about. However, it has been proven that a sample size does not need to be more than 5% to show a trend.

Using the Xfire stats CAN be effective is you use more than one game and more than one statistic.

Example:

Lord of the Rings Online has 150k subscriptions
Eve Online has about 250k subscriptions

Lord of the Rings Online has 2153 Xfire users per day yielding a ratio of 70
Eve Online has 3531 Xfire users per day yielding the same ratio of 70
Age of Conan has 2614 users per day x the ratio of 70 = 185k subscriptions

This means that Age of Conan has lost just over 75% of their subscription base, if the original 800k is correct.

Remember this number of roughly 75%, because we can find it elsewhere.

What better else mimics real life than the stock market? Perception is reality. Funcom stocks peaked at release with a share of 54. Currently they are at 14. Funcom stocks have gone down 75%

When AoC was released I was on Wicanna, one of the largest PvE servers. The first few weeks, at any given time in Tortage, there were 8 instances available to switch back and forth. Sometimes 7, sometimes 9. But at peak hours, usually 8. Now there are almost always two. Instance usage has gone down by about 75%.

A guild is another good sample size. I was in a large guild. During the first week, we had at one point over 100 members who had logged into the game within 5 days. Now, there are about 25 who have logged in within 5 days, 75% less.

Darkfall is nothing but a scam to get money from investors. They said back in May that had a gameplay video. Then they said we will release in July, then August. I am sorry, it doe snot take that long to release a video.

If they ever do release a gameplay video it will be a tech demo. There is no game people..

This is coming form one of the biggest Darkfall supporters. I have finally lost faith.

This is your mind telling you that.

If you are going to get that technical, nothing can feel like a "world". I mean, when you play most games, no other zones are loaded. Only the zone you are in is loaded. One can argue that can't feel like a world either.

I installed the game, played for a few minutes and then uninstalled it. While the guts of the game does sound amazing if I cannot get 'into' my character I just can't play it. Same problem I have with eve online.

A few minutes? Are you kidding?

I wonder sometimes how widespread A.D.D. really is..

I have been an MMORPG member for quite some time. Check all my posts. Last month, I thought Ashen Empires was the game for me.

However I will accept your opinion as a compliment, it must have been written will to be considered an advertisement..

Think bigger? That the whole world will collapse upon itself if this was a hoax?

Tis' just a game my friend, no need to think bigger. Having fun with the trivial is my god given right..

Prove it's not.

I knew someone would say that.

It is not possible to prove a negative.  Now, if you ask me to prove Darkfall is a hoax then fine. But dont ask me to prove that it DOES NOT exist.

Ok, I have a few questions.

Why do you call it a "sandbox"? Is it just because it's skill based? What other elements does it have to make it so?

What kind of difference is there in ability between advancement? For example, in WoW there is a godlike difference between high levels and medium. Are you an instant kill to anyone of high skill before you also get there?

Can you drop items on the ground? Can you write books or discs, or anything like that? Are spawns static?

Not sure if you read my whole post but this paragraph pretty much qualifies the game as a sandbox:

If you want to make a pair of boots, you have to choose what to place in the stuffing part of the shoe, what to line it with, etc. You can stuff shoes with various types of dirt; the shoe wont be good quality, but you can do it. This is a small example of what you can do. You can even design your own spells by combining actions. How about a spell that buffs you and heals you at the same time? The amount of creativity here is litterally endless. Be warned though, there is a steep learning curve in this process.

Levels of skills are 1 to 250. I was harvesting and got one shotted.

Spawns are dynamic and I dont think you can drop anything on the ground. Sadly, that is a missing feature in many  MMOs.

The game had no music when i tried it out which put me off too because I like ambient music in mmorpgs and I dunno everything just felt like college kids made the game.

Theres a reason it hasn't done well and thats because the game just isnt good.

All things considered, I think the art style is quite good and I am an artist. I find the colors in EQ2 to be the true definition of bland..

The game has music in the cities. The game also has "sounds" which are atmospheric effects that almost sound like music.

I consider myself an MMO vet as I first started with Ultima online in 1997. I have tried it all, and my thirst for the perfect MMO could not be found...nor will it ever be found. Recently I have noticed that the MMORPG.COM community has been thirsting for something. A lot of us hardcore gamers want a sandbox MMO. Sandbox MMO's are hard to find and the list is small.

There have been three times I have begun a new MMO and went "wow".

The first was Ultima Online in 1997. I rushed down to my local CompUSA to replace my 33.6 modem with a 56k modem. Upon first logging in, I was thinking the possibilites are endless, and these are actual other players walking around. The whole industry was just so fresh.

The second was World of Warcraft, for never had I seen a game so amazingly polished. The interface, the performance, and just about everything was so finely tuned it was great, and the game felt epic. The artwork and lore still are to this day top notch.

I have been missing this feeling lately. Until recently, it happended again.

I think I had perhaps heard of the Saga of Ryzom a couple years ago but I remember that it was not advertised anywhere. Recently, in search of a "sandbox" game, I was saddened to see this game get completely shut down. I had heard and read what a cult favorite this game was, and was very interested. Well, now it is back online for free, and I decided to try it.

That feeling is back...

Upon logging in I was treated to a world without Orcs and Goblins; it definitely feels like Fantasy/ScI-Fi, which is a nice change. With the graphics cranked up, this game actually looks quite good and runs flawlessly. The Interface is complicated but logical. More importantly, the game does not make you feel like a complete and utter idiot because you actually have to figure some things out for yourself. God forbid! No typical hand-holding that most MMO's try to do these days.

The crafting system is without a doubt the best I have seen since Ultima Online.

You can't have a great MMO with a good combat system and Ryzom does not dissapoint. I love games where you can "preload" your next move. Like a game of chess, you can think a move ahead of time. This is not "twitch" combat however, so be prepared to click on your action, and then see it happen seconds later, even if it is an action melee manouver.

Ryzom feels like a living, breathing planet, which it is. The environment is alive as creatures are aware of your pressence and sometimes friendly ones come up real close to "check you out". Some creatures move in herds and some do not. Make no mistake, this is part game, part environment simulator. I love the fact that there are seasons that affect the gameplay. In fact, some resources can't be harvested during certains seasons or certain weather! The community so far is the best I have seen since Lord of the Rings Online. The learning curve seems to have chased the inmature, A.D.D, 15 year olds away. There are plenty of quests in the begining area, and I am told that once I hit the mainland, the quests are few and far between. I do not know how I will feel about this until I get there. I am sure once I get into a guild we will have plenty of things to do.

The game can be played for free right now. I suggest you to all open your eyes and look as this gem that is right in front of you..

????

You thought the screen froze up. It didn't. I thought that too at first. There are pictures on the bottom that mimic a loading bar. When it gets to the end you are there.

Otherwise, fix your computer..

Here is my FAQ directed at testers:

1. Is there a clothing system like in Lord of the Rings where you can wear something nice looking while still have that great armor on that happens to look ugly?

2. Every screen shot I have seen has dark clouds. Does the whole game have this feel, or is there any areas that have open fields and sunshine?

3. Can you get level 40 doing ONLY PvE? I am not saying that I will, I was just curious.

4. How is the music?

5. Does the game have that magical "epic" feel that WoW had? You know, that feeling you get when you first enter Stormwind and the music is playing..etc

Thanks, I may have more..
