I am really curious abut the public perception of which medieval MMO right now has the best crafting system. By medieval I mean non-science fiction. I think we already know that Ryzom, EVE and SWG had very good crafting systems.

But as far as old world sword and shield MMOs, crafting seems to be lacking. I am talking about crafting items that are useful, fun, and profitable. All while not being so tedious.

Ultimately its a simple decision.   If you need a game to make you feel important and have value than WoW is the option.    If you want an extremely entertaining game that does not take over your life LOTRO is the answer.

To compete in WOW you have to spend a whole lot more time than you do in LOTRO.  Yet both games are just as challenging and have just as much variety.   Just that in LOTRO the variety comes with more than your next +1 sword of no life.

The community is much more helpful and mature in LOTRO.    Far less, I am more special than you are because I have a +2 sword of no life and your sword is only +1, LOSER!

LOTRO is definitely for a more mature gamer.

Oh if it was only that simple.

LOTRO has better crafting. LOTRO has a tighter story. LOTRO has a better community. LOTRO has awesome developers.

LOTRO is also boring. Sorry, it just is.

By definition, Guild Wars is an MMO.
Some people like to feel smarter by saying it isn't.  It is listed in that category and it is on this site. And by definition of an "MMO" it fits all the criteria. Whether it be instanced or not. Sorry...it's an MMO.

I am a fanboi for Wow I admit.

One more thing, roleplay freaks me out. I tried it once in AoC...it was awkward. That is all.

I think it's only fair that since I got flack for doing this yesterday I'll give some flack back.

You were complaining about this forum being full of trolls yet here you are doing no better then I was yesterday.  So now I'm starting to believe that the forum is not full of trolls but rather hypocrites which IMO is worse.

I guess the standard for what we call "trolling" has been lowered. What I wrote was based on the 1,000 posts a day about Sandbox this, sandbox that, and how all companies copy WoW, etc, etc.

There was some meat behind what I wrote. It was not a random troll post like yours seemed to be.

Although I found your posts quite witty and I even mentioned that. You seem to forget that though huh?

For all of you replying about LOTRO. WE ALREADY KNOW LOTRO is better than Warhammer and AoC. That was not the question. Same with EvE. We know its better.

I am asking about AoC vs Warhammer.

You can beat Oblivion, Half Life 2, and Fable 2, all in 10 hours each.

But why would you want to?

WC3 had great lore, but then WoW just took it and jammed it in a trash can. Most of the crap that is now WoW doesn't make any sense at all, especially the factions.

the DKs are insanely OP. Rgeneration boosts, freezes, instant spell damage, 2h weapons that do good base damage, fears, pets, etc.

i cannot wait for Darkfall...

Your post is so flawed I am not sure where to begin..

WOTLK is not the same as TBC The "Space Adventure". No Way. You have not played it yet. WoW has less of a grind than any game out there. Why do people say this? There are newer ways to level now. You can level up in PvP, and you never need to grind in WoW. You can quest all the way to 80 and have a ton left over...

People often mistake the past for great lore. Lore has to change and is dynamic. Things cant always be what they were like in WC3.

BTW, Death Knights have ZERO spell damage. At level 80 they will be less powerful because of the lack of scaling spell damage.

"Northrend swaps madness for lyricism, spectacle for heart-wrenching, melancholy beauty.

Its vast zones have been sculpted with infinite care around the non-linear flowering of the quest lines. They have tremendous variation and density of detail, stunning vistas everywhere you look, impressive architecture, and an eerie, haunting quality that will be familiar to anyone who's visited our own far North, be it Iceland, Siberia or the Canadian Rockies. Even the skies, lit with shifting veils of aurora, are enough to make your hair stand on end (assisted by the atmospheric musical score). It is classic fantasy.

"Wrath of the Lich King takes the best-of-breed MMO and improves everything about it.

It's a work of supreme confidence and quality that is twice as fun and ten times as beautiful as classic WOW, not to mention anything else in the genre.

But above all else - in the breathtaking sweep of Northrend, in the assured, epic storytelling, in the constellation of brilliant quests - it is a grand adventure. Perhaps the grandest adventure in all gaming. In every sense, Azeroth is still the place to be. "

Comon minutemaid and Co. How is it to fight a lost battle?

mate, if you feel the need to post this kind of stuff in the mmorpg.com forums just to convince yourself that WoW is somehow still worth playing, you need to seriously reconsider your life in general.

When this is all over, I wonder who will come out on top? I have an odd feeling that if Funcom stays afloat it actually has a higher ceiling than Warhammer. I feel that we have seen Warhammer give its best shot. We have not yet seen how good Age of Conan can be. By ceiling I mean "greatest potential". And I dont mean subscription numbers..

Does anyone else agree?

Sniff? I smell a poll....

Some people disagree with you and state their opinion and you start crying for the mods to close the thread? Why? I read through and I didn't see any Troll posts at all. Just people responding to your post with their opinions. No insults, just intelligent discussion.
If you can't deal with people who disagree with you without having a conniption fit about it, I would have to suggest that you abstain from posting on a public forum.
Personally I despise WoW. I beta tested the game, and played it for a week before I quit. In my humble opinion it is the Fisher Price of MMO's. Spoonfed Pablum for the console gaming crowd; with bright colors and cartoonesque characters aimed at making a virtual merry-go-round for the same pre-teens who play Runescape.
Any adult that plays it should feel ashamed that their idea of a fantasy world fit for adventuring in is so reminiscent of Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

A better question Xaldraxuis, is why are you here? Looking back through your past posts you hate WoW. Here is a classic response you made to the "11 Million Subscriptions" post:
LOL
Ok, this is going to sound like trolling but, this only goes to prove my theory that 9 out of 10 people are morons.
(*I'm happy to be in the minority.*)
So you are an MMO elitist, and you post on the forums of the game you despise?
That is truly amazing..

I play an integral part in the forum game.

I'm a villain.

Good to see a real "roleplay" poster however....lol I liked the villain thing :)

Ooooh Oooooh, can I be the fanboi?!!!  Please?  Pretty please?!!!!  I can do it, I KNOW I can. :)

Okay I nominate you!

Last I checked World of Warcraft was not like Pee-Wee's Playhouse..

A week is not enough time. It's shame you missed some great exploring, some great quests and adventures. An amazing musical score and a huge, open world of possibilities. I feel bad for you because you now post in the forum of the game you hate. I have seen your other posts where you say everyone who plays WoW is a moron..

You obviously have a deep obsession with convincing the world that WoW is bad. You may want to give up that fight. Perhaps the only way to conquer this, is to play it for more than a week? That is just not enough time to formulate an opinion, regardless of what you have read about the game..

Good to see a real "roleplay" poster however....lol I liked the villain thing :)

BTW I like your taste in games. I noticed that you have tinkered with AoC lately and have left Warhammer behind. I ended up liking AoC more than War for some reason. I may come back if the lag spikes go away.

And I love Fable 2 and the original as well. Now that is a dynamic world. I cant disagree with you on that one.

I can name several responses that weren't exactly of the "intelligent discussion" variety. But because you agree with them, that makes them intelligent or easily overlooked by yourself..
