This is what patch 1.05 did.

It ruined all the characters I had a bond with. I dont have any level 80s in that game because I get bored to death around level 50. But I did have 3 characters all in that range. Afer the patch my powers were missing My feat points were needing rearranging. And I was like DAMN if you are going to COMPLETELY change ALL my characters... Why not just make me start all over? They arent the same characters I grinded up through the game. They arent the same that I did this... or did that...

:edit:

We have cancelles again... and wont be going back. ever.

i dont see any logic in your argument. although i dont play aoc anymore . but even i could see that this is done in all other games .paladins were the most weakest class when burning crusade came out .just before the wrath of the lich king, they made paladins so strong there was no match .same happend with DK ,now they are debuffing it.so if thats what you are complainning about, then  i am sad to say current mmorpg world is not for you.

One of the big complaints for westerners with FFXI was the lack of a dedicated server.  I know SE wanted to promote international gameplay so they never accomodated the request.  It didn't help that FFXI had been going in Japan for some time before westerners were able to start so all of the existing servers were dominated by Japanese players.

With FFXIV that won't be the case.  We'll get to start at the same time as other regions.  So assuming SE doesn't devote servers to specific regions (which last I checked they hadn't made a decision to do), should we, the players, take the initiative and pick our own "unofficial" NA servers?  Same question for the Europeans... should they pick "unofficial" EU servers?

that is one option but i think internationality is one thing thta square enix should be proud of .the ping rate on final fantasy 11 was the most stable i could get while travelling different countries.

b) You didn't work there; reading articles doesn't make you 100% informed.

c) They have more important things like AION

can you tell us where the lineage 3 development team evaporated ? where is the guild wars 2 launch they promised back in 200 8?? and i dont see bright future of aion cuz plaync has a blind eye over bots problems .even in aion korea there is bots problem .google and you will see in their forums people still complaning about bots. do they think gameguard will be able to stop botting or hacking ?? certainly not .the facts prove otherwise.plaync is known for  creating hype but they never fulfill their words or expectations of their customers.

NCsoft have been on my no go gaming list for quite awhile now. They are as bad as the others, EA, Atari, etc. I think so many of these publishers have their heads shoved so far up their arse that you'd swear they have two heads!

It takes more than money, idiotic captains steering a project, to get a "good and playable" game to work. The reason NCsoft would have continued with launch is that the machine was already running, they had a chance to make some moeny from it if enough stayed around.

Personally I'm sick of seeing people get caught up in the hollow MMO marketing spin. We petitioned Mythic for a month before release that warhammer wasn't ready to launch, well look at the number falloff, that came from closed beta guilds mostly, probably alot of those too were people coming onboard because it was supposed to be a totally different game.

There are alot of people out there with great ideas, good projects, yet they get no funding because of these big megladon corporations playing their high powered BS. They are going to get caught in the end though, look where blizzard come from, yet they are headed down the same road as NCsoft. Sure they make money, but how honesty has flown the coupe.

After all, we the gamers have the power to stop them by simply not playing their game. Just like governments, even Ceasar knew, you control the mob, you maintain power. Well simply stop giving them that power!

i agree with you 1000 %.until customers dont demand more and do a boycott of these so called mmorpg specalist makers .we wont see a change .if cryptic is sucessful in bringing something new like champions online .that might be the start of revolution .

lol,  I knew I would see tears of the "forced pvp" cry babies.

The truth is, pretty much all the worlds entertainment is "pvp" based.  Soccer, football, tennis, cricket, formula1, poker, chess...

then you look at all the most popular video games in the world, or at least in history... Streetfighter2 (and all those beatemups) then FPS, Doom, Quake, Unreal, Counter strike, Far cry, ..  some of the most popular games ever.

Then look at mmo's, mmo's that fail are those which dont have good Pvp, Tabula Rasa, Warhammer, AoC, auto assault...  The mmo's that succeed are those which gave good Pvp,  WoW, Guildwars, Eve, and yes Aion!

PvP is the natural progression of fun, excitment and entertainment, competition is in our human nature, everywhere you look in every aspect of life you see competition,  from business to pleasure.  try to stay open minded or you will miss out.

warhammer didnot had good pvp ?? dude you even know what you are talking about?? it had one of the best pvp format .the only problem was population . its too early to predict aion as success .  as i dont see aion population to be hitting skyrocketting.

im with you on this one brother .never gonna buy another nc soft game . they took away my best game tabula rasa :SIGHS.i wish blizzard had made that one.

So if I read your post right, you're saying it's a bad thing that they're not letting you play the whole game, and experience all the content before the game is actualyl released in the EU/NA markets?

That doesn't make any sense, and I can promise you that if they did it would be a much worse marketing strategy. "Great, Aion release day! I can't wait to get home and..oh hang on I've already played through 90% of the content during the trial weekends, guess I'll go to the pub instead."

well i have beta tested wow ,aoc ,warhammer online .none of the games had any restriction to play in beta . the only point i am making is if people in china and korea are playing the content upto lvl 60 and they allowed them to play the whole content even in beta of korea and china?? why not here?? what are they afraid of??if they wont test it .they would not know if there are performance issues and bugs .how will they correct it at launch?? will not the customers suffer who buy the game at launch .give a thought to my point with cool mind .and then tell me .i will agree with whatever argument you bring up next .

Exactly!

I dunno why people are upset about having to preorder to play the beta, just cancel if you hate it.  It makes it seem like they want you to play the game before you have to pay for it that way.  Almost like it was thought out.

Hmm I wonder if thats the point?

Either way I'm glad that people who didn't get a chance to see the game from CN are now able to give it a shot before they must pay for it.  Main reason I never tried out Darkfall is they don't have a free trial, I don't spend money when I don't know what I'm buying, and you shouldn't have to either.

Well.. i will try to explain it again.. It is the principle wich is all wrong.

You paying to check a unfinnished product, $1 or $5 or $50 or whatever doesnt matter.

One might say.. "no you paying to Pre_Order something.."

Pre_ORder? Why would anyone pre_order something you can download in a few minutes? OH wait.. if i pre_order this something, i get to even enter the Beta_of_nothing_gonna_be_changed called Closed Beta/preview while in fact is Limited_preview_of _the_finnished_part_of_the_game_you_can_see.

Furthermore i can even ride_the_mount_of_wonderland_that_will_be_available_to_all_after_launch AND i can start playing before the others do!!! Woot!

Same applies to the limited Beta events wich is commonly related to this pre_order_bonus_enter_pseudo_beta where you can only play a very limited timeframe of the game and just some levels. Age OF Conan's Funcom was prolly one of the first to use theese schemes in order to promote and make a buyable product knowing it had several and grave flaws.

Is NCSoft doing the same? Does the game seem polished and finnished to you? What about the security breaches lots of people been complanning at ? How about hacks and the way they trying to shutup players who talk about it? How about several existing exploits ingame that are totally unaceptable in a todays game and that will probably required lots of work to solve? Is it really THAT finnished or is someone trying to lead you to believe it is?

See when the commmon Joa sees all this.. the common Joe wich DOES read MMORPG forums even if you believe he/she does not, will wonder.

I'll try to explain it to you. I'm going to buy this game. I pre-ordered so that I could play it a lil bit before it comes out. Im super pleased to pay 10% of the price of the game early so I can play it early.

It is a scheme, by ME! I took NC Soft! Those suckers are letting me play a game that's not even released...hahaha! I win.

its a win win situation both for developer and customer. customer can play it for free and devoloper could save money on testing .

So I was in the last couple betas for Aion.  Was psyched to test again this weekend.

I get home from work, launch the game, enter my user & pass.....and get a popup message saying

This account does not have access to Aion

I login to PlayNC account management, see that Aion is listed.  Login to the BETA forums, yep still have access there too.

I submit a ticket to support, and just got a message from a GM saying that my account had access to the first to betas, but my key "expired" and the only way I can get a beta key is to preorder the game.

I'm sorry, but forcing testers to BUY a game to TEST is ridiculous.  Its really a shame, since I was looking forward to Aion, but these tactics are bad business.

mmorpg keys were only for 2 betas .initally it was for one .but plaync extended it to next beta .if you are thta much enthuisast .google and many companies are offering the keys for 7 dollars.now dont tell me you cant afford 7 dollars??

Been following Aion for a while and i was surprised with the NCSoft change of plans for Aion beta.

First, they only providing a very limited number of keys to promotional websites..

Second, they offering beta acess to whoever pre_order their game.. Pre_Order a game the costumer doesnt know as a way to acess a limited preview or else? Has the gaming industry marketing schemes came so low that they have to use theese methods to sell a game?

Makes you think.. "What piece of c..' am i preordering ?"

dude many of the comapnies are selling beta keys . google them .u dont even need to pre order .so stop trolling .

PvP question

1. Is there PvP outside the Abyss? (and besides this "instanced PvP" I've read about)

2. Can you attack and/or "friendly duel" your own faction?

3. Is it possible to enter the opposing faction's realm/area?

I've read in another thread that you may not enter the opposing faction's starter areas (probably to avoid TOO much ganking by higher level players) and that satement seems to imply that it is possible to travel to other areas belonging to the opposing faction, whether for item/monster hunting or for PvP purposes. I just think it would be pretty sick to be able to roll up into your enemies own area and start wreckin their shit without having to go to nuetral ground i.e. the Abyss hehe. Thanks in advance for your time =]

yes you can attack someone outside abyss too .take this example you are flying witrh wings and some from ground will rush in air and attack you while you are flying . thats what i know while i played aion china .maybe someone else could clarify you more.

I have already pormised myself, my family, and my freinds that this game will be my last ever mmorpg.

A few reasons to this are

Im going into Cal State San Marcos next year, And Am going to try to get my degree with the highest GPA possible

I waisted way to much of my time on many mmorpg games that quite frankly I did not enjoy much.

I feel there are more productive things and other hobbies I would like to try outside of just mmorpgs.

So, Aion is it, If this game is not enjoyable to me, Ill finish playing Guild wars (Which I already have) until it shuts down and then I am officially done with mmorpg games for good.

I have been on all of the beta events (except Korean Closed) so far. I really do enjoy the game's look and feel, but never got beyond level 18 so I don't really know how bad the grind gets, or if it continues to be an enjoyable quest based game.

Whatever happens, I am willing to put all of my eggs in the Aion Basket, To be honest I think I made the right choice...when I decided this 2 years ago the baskets I had to choose from were Aion, Age of Conan, and Warhammer. I picked Aion.

Anyone else here in a situation like myself, basically hoping Aion will be it for you and you can finally say you found a game you enjoy? IF not do you plan to quit the genre? Just curious since this forum has constant complaints about how bad the mmorpg genre is right now, I would assume a lot of people are hoping for Aion to be great if not they will leave.

I hope they do the monthly and hourly sub plan in NA/EU for gamers just like you ( people that have a life outside MMO's and only can play one or two hours a day will opt for the hourly plan). 15$ on an hourly plan for a person that cannot devote tons of time each day will last them quite a long time.

until people dont complain about it and they start loosing business .they will never do that . but if aion does implement it that ill surely revolutionalize the mmorpg world in europe and na.but there is very little chance . thats why i have started playing mmorpg that have come out in malaysia .one they are in english no language barriers .two they have hourly subs. three i live in asia ,less lag for me.if aion somehow makes its way to malaysia i will play it for sure.

I know it looks cool, but it still isn't fun to me.  COH/COV seems much more fast paced to me, and for a person who can only play for a few hours at night and maybe a little more during the weekends it suits my taste a little more, just like the people I play with.

not to argue with you or anything.but cryptic has stated  that this game will be alike for casual gamers .if they play less they can in champions online and still dont feel left behind. but its only from the company thats making it .we cannot know it until nda is lifted and beta testers can tell us if it is true or not:P

i will also wait for 3-4 months before ordering this game. cuz i have fears about it to be ghostowns. so wait would be better .i have already wasted so much money on games which later on losts customers. so i will make a decision on you guys feedback:D

this is poll for you people who in a way anticipated for this game .good or bad way .plz participate in poll .and leave your views .im open to all comments .just want the community of mmorpg tospeak their mind about this game. thanks to all in advance for taking your time in the poll:D

i think you have made a great point .considering how much hatred other games like aion are getting in forums. hopefully champions online will live to expectations. i have pre ordered the game already:P
