Well, someone sounds nervous indeed.

ohhh yeah! I'm soooo nervous that the game will succeed and be so great! I'd hate to have a game like Darkfall promises to be available for me to play! ROTF.

Not nervous at all buddy. I hope like hell I am wrong and all you fans are right.

But I'm not wrong. The shit's gonna hit the fan BIGTIME, and this time, with this game... I'm not gonna be one of the sad little faces disappointed and shattered. I'm gonna kick back and watch it all as a big comedy and self entertainment.

Again, trust me... I hope that I am wrong - And in the tiny sliver of chances that I am, I will be the first one here admitting to such. And then I'll be logging back into the game moments later! lol.

I am going to have to agree with you Zaxx.  I hope that I am wrong and that Darkfall does turn out to be a great game.  But I too believe that it is going to bomb big time.

I have followed the mmorpg scene since UO.  I have played many games and followed too many others to count.  Darkfall reminds me alot of Mourning with all the hype and nothing to show.

As good as Mourning sounded I did not buy into it.  The same goes for Darkfall.  If it releases and proves to be good then I will be more then happy to play Darkfall.  But until then it is just a bunch of empty promises.

I agree.  They should have made fewer servers but had more capacity for each of them.  Like what they did for Anarchy Online.  This is how they weathered the storm with AO.  They had all these problems but yet they only had to pay for 2 large capacity servers.  So they were not really losing money when they lost alot of initial customers.

Over time they fixed the game and made it into a really good game.  Even most of the big name reviewers admit that it was one of the few Cinderella stories where a game launched horrible and came back.  I remember PCGamer even went back and gave it mmorpg of the year later after the problems were fixed.

I feel that Funcom will fix AoC because they already proved that they can with AO but they definitely need to cut costs.  And having all those servers is not helping things.  They need to remember the lessons of the not so distant past.

I like the idea of mercenaries.  I might have to come back to check it out.

You have your opinions, To other people the game my be what they want, Just because someone likes it, You call them Fanbois or whatever.
Soo putting it that way, You play your game you like are you a fanboy for that too? I'm sure you are. Because nothing can beat that game can it?
AoC i'm willing to give it a try, If I don't like it, I wouldn't spam it all over the forums, That's just childish. If you don't like it, Keep it to yourself, I visit these forums like virtually everyday and I see ALOT of AoC flames and i' getting annoyed with them.
I persoanlly think the mods here should just straight up delete them with no question. Comparing WoW and AoC is rubbish too, They are 2 different games. May look the same, But how does that make it the same game? "AoC vs WoW" this is total bullshit. "OMG AoC is a CLONE of WoW!"
Just please people stop with all these useless post, AND no i'm not part of AoC team, I'm not a AoC fanboi. Before you lot accuse me. Infact i'm nothing to do with it.

No flames from me Alewis.  I agree with what you said 100%.  I do not mind someone expressing an opinion but the amount of anti AoC spam on these forums has become ridiculous.

I really do not see the point  of all these posts.  If you do not like a game the solution is simple.  Uninstall it and move on with your life.

I have played a few bad games myself but you will never find me spamming it on a forum.  If someone asks my opinion, I will share what I feel are the pros and cons of a game in an intelligent manner.

Maybe instead of deleting all the anti threads a better solution would be to consolidate all the threads to one complaint thread or section.

So in your opinion we should all just shut up and leave it at that? If so why are you even posting? Why dont you shutup. Your post is as useless as any post on these forums.

Cause we should all stop posting.... thats the almighty answer to AOC.

"Please would everyone just stop posting about AOC!!"

yup sounds good, you sir are just another rediculous post amoung all of mine and everyone elses.

Gratz well done and thanks to adding to nothing constructive. You answer is put your head in the sand and move on.

Your post defies itself and contradicts, well done another mindless post.

The sole problem here is the game is failed, even on their own moderated boards there is nothing constructive.

My idea of message boards is you go there to find out things.... all you get with AOC is rage and ranting. Wonder why that is?

Well first of all I never said that everyone should just "shut up and leave it at that".   I said that "I do not mind someone expressing an opinion but the amount of anti AoC spam on these forums has become ridiculous." If you had the mental capacity to read past the second sentence you would have known that.

Seriously I do not even mind some negative posts but when you see the same immature, unintelligent stuff posted over and over.  Its gets a little old after a while.

Like I said personally I think that the best solution would be to have a disgruntled AoC player section on these forums where people can go vent.  And have a section where people can go to get information about the game free from negative posts.  Kind of like what SWG has.

Have to admit that looks pretty good.  Can't wait to be able to try it.

This is great news.  I know that it is just a name but Mythic Entertainment is a name that has been around for many years.   So it is good that they are going back to their old name, plus it just has a better ring to it then EA Mythic

I also liked seeing that EA has the right attitude towards their different development teams.  Like they said without their developers, EA is nothing.  It is refreshing to see a company admit that.

HP Vs. DELL

Of course I always prefer to build my own with parts I get off of Newegg.  But if you want a pre built one from either Dell or HP definitely go with Dell.  They build nice computers.

If you do not mind refurbished you might want to also check out their outlet here - www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/desktops  Sometimes some good deals can be found there.

Pfft Eve is still a top game in my books and Wurm Online is doing pretty good for how small scale the development is, the other two big sandbox games have changed too much since their prime to still be fun. The most exciting thing about sandbox games is you can have ambitions and make them happen.

QFT.  With a sandbox game you have the option of asking yourself where do you want to go, what to you want to do?  As much as I love the Lord of the Rings and really like Turbine, Lotro was way to linear.  Its a beautiful game and a good game but it led you around to where you needed to go.

If I wanted a linear experience, I would go play a good single player rpg.  Give me the freedom to go where I want to go and see what I want to see.   That is my perfect mmorpg experience.  I want to feel like my character is a part of a living breathing fantasy world.  Not some theme park.

Make a game with todays graphics(does not even have to be the best just decent) and have the open gameplay of UO during the T2A era and it would sell like hotcakes.  One of the big things I loved about UO was the fact that it never felt like a grind. Your skills just went up with use over time.  There was never any experience bar to stare at and you had tons of skills that you could work on.  In short when you played UO you just played the game and had fun.

LOL .. whoever think that sandbox (or UO gameplay) would sell should have their heads examined.

EQ beat out UO by a large market because of the more hack-n-slash gameplay. And whoever said UO has no grind hasn't played the game. No one remembers the horrible click-fest to mine, mine & mine? The "leveling" up magic skills by casting again & again?

Eve is the best sandbox game out there and it is niche.

EQ beat out UO because it was the first decent looking 3D mmorpg for its time and it was also a copy of Dungeons and Dragons for the most part.  As far as not having played UO.  No I spent plenty of time playing it.  I had a 7x GM character.

Sure you could just sit in some cave and "mine, mine, mine" for hours  if you wanted.  But then again if you did that maybe you needed your head examined.  I just went out and played the game.  Before I knew it I had a maxed out character.  It sure beats the heck out of staring at the xp bar while grinding through "hell" levels.

With a sandbox mmorpg you can do what you want.  If you just want to grind a single skill out for hours, that is your choice.  But you always have the option of mixing it up.  With a traditional leveling game like EQ, you only have one choice which is to grind away.  Sure some of the newer games today have alot of quests you can run but its still the same leveling treadmill no matter how you look at it.

Don't get me wrong I played EQ for a  while(it was a decent game).  But I played mostly due to it being alot like D&D and I also had two good friends who were playing it.  But nothing beat the gameplay and freedom of UO in my opinion.

Very exciting news.  I am currently playing Vanguard again using my free time that they gave me.  I must say that I am very happy so far.  My biggest problem with Vanguard was the horrid performance.  Vanguard has definitely been optimised alot.  The performance for me is alot better.

The lack of  customization is kind of a let down but I understand why they did it.  I can not wait to see what they do with the new model revamp.  I am sure that it will look really good.  I also saw that they are doing further optimizations in GU6 which makes things even sweeter.  Things are definitely looking up for Vanguard.

No he was talking about a lifetime subscription to Ultima Online, not Roma Victor  .  You must have read the post wrong.

Eve Online signed up with a unknown inexperienced publisher too and they did jack for them...  eventually they got rid of them.

If they signed with SOE or EA that would show their product is good it not GREAT...

lesser known publishers only want products to exploit and fast $ off of...  Big name publishers have CHOICES.

Oh and BTW - Even Farlan had a publisher in Asia.  SnailGames..  Doesn't mean Darkfall is any good or will amount to anything.

The proof is in the pudding.. or shall we say THE GAME..  which everyone has yet to play...

If they signed with SOE or EA they would lose half thier support base.  They will never ever ever ever do this.  Obv they will have a diffrent publisher for US, and I doubt it will be anyone very big because they want to keep control of thier game so it isnt ruined like SWG, AoC, ect...

They would not sign with SOE of EA even in Tasos wettest dreams.

More like SOE or EA would not even waste their time with Darkfall.  Don't get me wrong I would love to see Darkfall do well but until I see more it smells of Mourning Online.

/signed

I always liked the game but the performance issues were a killer for me.  I came back around update 3 or 4.  Its was better but still not very good.  I can happily say that things are alot better.  Say what you will about SOE, but they have done a hell of a job with Vanguard.  The same can be said of EQ 2 also.  that game is alot better too.

You have to love all these secretive MMO projects.  Most probably they don't want the public bashing their uninnovative design.

99.9% chance it has classes and defaults to another Wow clone.  Ho hum.

We definitely know it is fantasy as that is R.A. genre and classes are prevalent in all his books.  I guess the big question is whether it will ever see the light of day.

One thing that I do know is that the game will have one hell of a story and tons of lore with a great fantasy author like R.A Salvatore onboard.  That gives them a leg up in my opinion.

I also really like how they are doing the online aspect of D&D.  The idea of a virtual gaming table is just brilliant.  It gives all us pen and paper rpg fans a way to play with friends easier.

The thing is D%D isnt the first ones to come up with Virtual Tabletops that you can play pnp games on.  They have been around for years., some for free, some that have a one time fee.  The only thing that DnD is doing is adding a monthly subscription to it.

If your interested in other virtual tabletops check out : www.fouruglymonsters.com.  This is an online community that use and talk about different VTTs.

Actually I do realise that Wizards was not the first to do a virtual tabletop.  But I think that it is pretty neat that they have their own officially supported version for the game.  Yes it is true that there is a small subscription price but you also get other support material for the game.  Thanks for the link though.  I will have to go check it out.

I didn't read the thread, so I don't know if anyone said it, but...

Gygax is turning in his grave. They're destroying his franchise a couple of months after his death. Carrion feeders, or what?

Well I would not go as far as saying that Gygax is turning over in his grave.  I can say this though.  I have talked with him on various messages boards and I can say for a 100% fact that he DID NOT like the 3/3.5 edition of D&D.  One of the main reasons is because it made D&D too complex.

Hence the reason for him designing his own game(Lejendary Adventures) which is rules lite.  While he maybe might not have liked some of the changes of 4e D&D.  I am sure that he would have liked the fact that Wizards of the Coast at least made the game more accessable and easier to play.

I myself will always be partial to 1E AD&D(I did like 2E but not as much) but still I am optimistic about the 4E and will be getting it.  It sounds pretty interesting and if it truly is easier to play then that is great.  My wife has really taken an interest in D&D and maybe the 4E will be the way to go for her.

I also really like how they are doing the online aspect of D&D.  The idea of a virtual gaming table is just brilliant.  It gives all us pen and paper rpg fans a way to play with friends easier.

I agree.  VSoH has a great seamless world in the sense that it is beautiful and huge.  However the game has taken so many negative critisims that even with the great world it is still a turn off to play.  VSoH is starting to get better in terms of the Internet community and should highly consider releasing a 14 day trial or something to boost subs.

I agree, I am not going to play anymore of these MMO's unless I get a 10-14 day trial.

I've had it with these software companies.  If cable/stat companies give out set top boxes and one month free subs just to hook you, about time MMO's seen the writing on  the wall. Everyone is competing for your entertainment time and dollar. Mine is precious.  I don't know about anybody else.

I remember reading that they are going to do a trial in the near future.  I think that they are just working on all the bells and whistles so that Vanguard will really impress those that try it.  I would say that they are doing a great job so far.  Hats off to SOE for improving Vanguard.
