its 4.98 at amazon probably 3$ shipping. i dont even think it is worth the 15 honestly. the glitches start to wear on you and you...oh wait can you see the whole world chat on a trial? if not it largely consists of people complaining about the game. i had the same reaction though, i played the CB and it was ugly so i stopped, then i saw the 3 day trial and decided to give it a go, used my preorder key (that sat around forever) and by the time i got to level 30 i could take it nomore. not enough there to sustain me, and most likely you since those games you listed are all pretty enthralling.

i think if it makes it another year and they actually have an expansion with mechs (this would happen some time after aion) and fix ALL the issues the game currently has it would be a really tight game. but for now ....

you just made me think of something, AoC and TR have ALOT in common.."unique" combat systems, totally broken crafting @ launch, potential and hype out the keister, horrible launches, big names (conan and garriot), nice early levels then desolation, graphic engines too powerful for their own good, great soundtracks, b/s presell items, and 3 days early acess to the games for presell (though 1 of these games boned alot o people on the last part).

dont know what to tell ya, 7-15 $ for TR is probably the better way to go than 50$ for the barbarian butt rape.

in this case "MOST of you" are a giant part of the problem!  "most of you" believed the hype despite the fact that funcom is a turd company. dreamfall was 1 of the most pansy games i have ever experienced and yet people seemed to swoon over it when they found out the same company was making conan. "most of you" already gave them your $ so it looks like the game is a success even though "most of you" wont be paying for another month.

2. 5 years without a virus has nothing to do with luck, it has to do with knowing what i click, not being a f-tard, and more importantly not even going to sites like youtube or myspace (got 0 life?)

3. why the hell would anyone attack me? this mirrors reality in a way, but lock the door, stay armed, and never let a stranger in the house.

4. the question i have is how many STD's have you had?! i have never had any, of course i have never been to a titty bar (or a gay bar... i have my suspicions they are not disease free places) much less looked @ a skank and said "i can hit that". nothing "1337" was ever implied, i think its a trust thing.

5. i do do little scans while servers get maintained, more out of boredom than anything else. if YOU control your machine there is really no need to have tons of added security that does.... what? oh nothing right...just like i dont hire a security detail to patrol my house (besides the neighbors thinking im a damn freak) if i worked for the nrc, fbi, nasa, the aerospace industry i could see worrying about it, or if i used ANY wireless devices, but i dont.

do you steal these non-free antivirus programs? i would kind of hope so.. i mean i pay for garbage games every now and then but i would be real pissed if i paid for norton and still got a virus. the only people i know that get viruses are people who use the antivirus programs! most everyone i know uses a c: for the os and drivers, backs that up, and installs any other app or game on other partitions. doing it this way you just wipe c: and can be back up and running in no time. no stupid definition updates in the middle of raids, no smart scanning, no increased boot time or any other (what i see as) negative effects. i dont see how a firewall helps either, seems kind of like the next thing is to say "use the longest ethernet cables you can find, that way you are far away from the internet and it will take hackers longer to get in so you have a better chance of stopping/catching them".

what is on your computers that you think a hacker would want to steal? and lets not overlook what a "secure site" is before we answer that since ..well you would have to be a real tard to have a txt document with your credit card numbers sitting  im your shared folder.

actually i use nothing, i havent had a virus in like 5 years at least. i dont know what kind of 1 night stands you go in for but if she is that much of a skank i stay way far away from it.

i used norton as a prime example since it is generally thought to be the industry standard (ya know for people who own pc's, not use them). to me ANY antivirus is a waste of resources, i can reinstall vista and all the drivers faster than i can scan 1TB and there is no less than #0 (which is how much sys resources are gobbled up by NOT using anything). of course THIS machine is a single user gaming rig, the others are 2 user and 1 is a media box the other is for web browsing and word processing. (so yea no kiddies looking for hacks or porn)

what im thinking more is would you buy special antivirus (based on that link) for gamers? whatever you use is...well i guess it must work for you (i think most of you are REAL paranoid). im sure there is a thread somewhere where people play the "my antivirus is better" game. thats not what i was going for, though i suppose i have learned some things.

3. when you play do you use antivirus? or do you use antivirus at all?? my logic is if it is a "gaming rig" chances are people are not sitting infront of it looking for ways to get viruses. also i see TONS of problems from game to game with antivirus, spyware, firewall software being the root of peoples problems.

4. would anyone even buy this? i mean if it is equal to conventional antivirus then why use any of the others with their massive footprints?

5. are you insulted by companies that put "extreme" or "gaming" or "sli/crossfire certified" on products thinking that the average gamer is just stupid enough to let THAT be the deciding factor in what products they buy? i know i am.

i kinda think the damage is already done, they proved to the world they cant launch a game, meet deadlines, provide adequate customer support, or be viewed as company you can trust.

just like i responded to their email they sent yesterday, i would rather do a fat 80 year old with herpes than be associated with this game.

neither is better, shit they are hardly even different. they depend on the hardware (so are nvidia cards better than ati cards?) and to declare 1 the winner is to raise your hand and say "hey! total fan-fag over here ::wink wink::.". it is kinda shitty that they are different otherwise we wouldnt have to pick a platform ahead of time, i know it seems like b/s and alot of work (or none ultimately) but just decide which COMPANY you like better, and support them. to do it by the card is stupid because next weeks best card is not this weeks best card.

i got 5 characters to cap in under 2 months soloing; except for a few occasions where someone happened to be standing right where the quest was.

screw the books, if i want plot ill read one...and it wont be stupid. yea rift gear (of course i did THAT post level 50, since pre 50 it is just stupid) pvp (more stuff to group for AFTER lev 50) but really once i capped the first time it became obvious the gig was make a hunter and run around trying to poach beryl shard kills from people. though my champ does it with 1000x more style.

yes, since the average wow player is a teen of sub standard intelligence (or maybe their parent) we are looking pretty screwed. not simply because these people exist or play games..no no. because like anyone who can think for themselves they get bored and try other games, and now we have idiocy spreading. i dont avoid grouping with people because im an elitist a-hole (and love it), i avoid it because there is nothing worse than waiting 20 min for 1 moron to get to a point on a map that is 2 min from the starting location (and yes THAT happened in lotro) with the possible exception of every f-tard i have ever seen aggro a whole room of mobs because they are stupid and just have to know whats around the next corner, and then its "lawlz " followed by "its just a game,jeez" (i dont play to suck, dont know about you ladies) they are generally wearing cloth armor too! another reason is chatterboxes, use voice or get the job done silently! i am not going to sit here and carry on a conversation through my keyboard when every keystroke is a hit/kill (not that i even play with a keyboard since us elitists use n52 TE's) wasted.

how bad is it when a game is nerfing the graphics (not that they havent been nerfed considerably since closed beta) when they should be whispering about an expansion.

i did almost the same thing btw (i didnt sodomize myself by paying 50$ for it though), i still have like a week of game time left. hit 30 and just decided "f*** this". the glitches (again most have been there since closed beta), the fact that it is so easy to respec (god forbid the choices you make ]in a game where you can clone yourself anyways[ matter), the fact that the sound effect for the shotgun reloading doesnt sync with the action of shotgun reloading thus canceling the fact that you reloaded when you switch to a nade launcher which you dont generally pick up on until you switch back to the shottie only to find it has 1 shot in it...its all just stupid crap that could be easily fixed IF they didnt have anyone with any actual talent working on aion since about the time that game launched to present.

shoulda read a review instead of writing one, we all know the game is dogs ass, i think anyone would be fairly honest about it (even in game 75% of the stuff in chat is people bagging on the game). i was just hoping it would have improved since the closed beta ugliness...nope.

im pretty sure he DID remove the mobo drivers because they said nvidia on them (thinking it was video related). even if the hd sound is on the card (my board has hd sound on it anyways, infact it seems silly unless its a cap card) couldnt he just use the device manager and kill the ati sound driver and use the default nvidia/realtek one? its hurting my head to think why the hell ati would put the sound on a video card. i could see it on a pcie1 slot, but part of the card itself? i dont even see that info listed anywhere! it would seem about as brilliant as putting a nic in there for haha's.

call compaq and ask them (i would yell at them personally under the premise that their machine is complicating your life in unneccisary ways), or hp since they seem to share web space. you can easily get the drivers for the whole machine through the company (saw them on the way to those ones). OR contact ati.

it sounds like you removed the drivers for the mobo instead of removing the ones from the other video card. so putting them back will fix it.

nobody cares about your psu (only morons include that on their stat sheets anyways). need to know the MAKER AND MODEL NUMBER on your motherboard. the rest is pretty much irrelevant.

the oem is the way to go if you are actually planning, if you are impulse buyer forget it  because in 3 months you will decide the board needs to have quad sli or some silly thing. oem is bound to the board, so aslong as you choose a suitable board you are good to go. 8 gigs, sli, sata3 (screw quad, the fsb aint there to justify it...not with 8800+'s atleast). i heard next win release will be about 2009 and that is for the beta (was mentioned in last pc magazine somewhere).

so what im looking at is the fact that right now we have all the (supposed) vista certified stuff floating around and the prices just keep dropping and dropping, so it is not a huge deal to get the parts (though the first time you see your 350$ processor for like 60$ on new egg it does catch ya in the balls) its kinda nice! leaves extra $ around for things like Killer nic's, snazzy cases, or physx cards... anything really by the time the next windoze iteration is actually upto service pack 1 (because only a fool judges the o/s before the first sp) im thinking late 2010-mid 2011, at THAT point the whole thing will have to be reevaluated. and then we can see the video cards we are paying 4-600$ for for 120$, but still! it isnt like they are going to spring another unreal on us next month, no dx10 oblivion version that i have heard of just a bunch of games that were developed in the past (since developing in the future tense would be problematic to say the least) couple years, and if you leave that crossfire/sli spot open IF it comes up you can easily deal with it. ditto on 8 gigs of ram, the only practical use for that would be if you were in an emergency room and had to render like 6 mri's at once.

i do the same thing with vista btw, i call it breaking it (like a wild animal, not like a toy train). thats where the "user" vs "owner" thing originates, people will buy a pc loaded with vista and just let it be vista (those are owners), and then theres those of us that buy vista and make it do what we want (we USE the machine in ways owners are afraid of).

the only real diff. i see performance wise is dependant on wether i am using a wide screen monitor or not, that drops frame rates. i can draw a stick figure faster than i can paint a landscape- the stick figure is not seen as a performance advantage.

kinda need more info, is it "posting"?  does the monitor say "no dvi input" or anything? is it about to load the o/s and then going black?  might have to uninstall the old drivers maybe? was old card nvidia? also might want to kill those drivers and used either hacked ones or old ones (or the latest ones from site if you havent used those yet).

Its not a micro ATX board btw, but yes dont get ATI at the moment. 8800 GT;s are cool cards but if you want to future proof maybe go 9800 as the new GX280 are out soon the prices will drop alot.

actually right now id say ATI has a better shot then Nvidia , if i remember correctly the new cards the yare coming out with are simple rehashes for 50$ more. I would suggest investing in the 4850 plus 10.1 compat (when ever companies are gonna use it, you will be ready)

On a extra side note i would go with vista , first off XP 64 is crap and has alot of buggies and if your going to get a processor with 64bit you might as well use it (especialy if ya want more ram upgrades)

The pc you are going for is trying to be low in price and i can understand that, but when making pc's like that you have to make a threshhold jump so you have pletny of upgradability.

i kind of agree about the cards, but who wants to pay 4-600$ for a card with 0 games in mind to even play it on (i went from oblivion build to unreal build, kinda stuck now though)?

if it was about saving $ just go with onboard video ::chuckle:: but if its for gaming, it is about performance and the 64 bit o/s can outperform 32 bit any day of the week . since xp 64 IS in fact a pain in the ass that leaves the logical step up to vista, and once broken you can make vista behave just like xp anyways.

personally i dont even see the point in getting a GPU that supports dx10 if you arent going to make use of that, i mean the objective is to increase performance. shall we compare?
