Op. Torchlight 2 is really enjoyable. For me at least. Very pick up and play. You can come abck to it and put it back down when you need but there's still alot to do at same time. I also reccomend Grimrock. Great game, great moddability. have you tried mount and blade? It was a breath of fresh air for gaming for me when i first found it. Hope you find what you are looking for. |

Fallout new vegas with many mods to add to survival/balance of the game. Project zomboid, Rogue survivor, Dwarf fortress, Crusader Kings 2.

IMO its just NOT mmorpg, i believe all video game is dying

I agree that the games being put out might not be what some people want but there are a LOT of people out there who do take graphics over substance and keep buying halo and other modern shooters even though its always the same rehashed content. And games like this will keep coming out as long there are mugs willing to buy them for instant gratification. It's just the market gaining more and more mass appeal. Good modern games are still coming out. They just aren't being made by big companies. Of course that will change whenever one of these indie titles becomes a runaway success. Then theyll pump out rehashed and simplified versions of those. Nothing new there. It's been going on for decades. |

[Column] General: Do Graphics Matter?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/20/12 1:19:42 PM
Graphics are only good if the gameplay is enhanced by it. They don't make a game itself. Sadly it's far easier for developers to make high graphics titles that lack content nowadays than actually well thought out gameplay mechanics.

So I was checking out what kickstarter has on offer. This game caught my eye. Very reminiscent of some of the rpgs I played and loved back in the 90s. Even if they don't reach their goal it seems the game will come albiet taking longer. Shameless plug so I can get to play this game sooner. |

If you could travel back in time and tell the Pre-SWTOR-Beta "You" something about SWTOR, what would you tell yourself?

Originally posted by Toxia I haven't owned a console since the sega mega drive/genesis. I refuse to buy a modern console till they improve the hardware they use/make them more reliable. No amount of exclusive games releases has made me consider otherwise. The failure rate of consoles can be a right joke. |

My hope is that they will invest their time more in mordernizing Anarchy Online. The game was amazing. It just needs more refinement and upgrades to drag it into this decade. If they can pull that off they would see it become one of the most popular MMO's out there.

Which Star Citizen package did you buy / pre-order?
General Discussion « Star Citizen 10/29/12 8:23:03 AM
Early adopter. It's Chris Roberts. If he is willing to put his name behind this and the past titles hes brought us I have full faith in this becoming a great game. To be honest I was even surprised it was on this site. Though I'm looking forward to the chance for players to run their own servers with custom content and modding. This is what made Freelancer have such a lasting community. |

Potential here. Hope it is successful.

Originally posted by gordiflu Yes freelancer has some of the most dedicated communities i have seen in games that allow public server hosting. Custom content and ships, Roleplay elements as well as various rulesets to cater to different gameplay styles. Worth checking . |

It's official... Star Citizen will not be a MMO...

Originally posted by JeroKane I think they will go this route. This is the same guy who helped make freelancer a reality. Put the server hosting in the hands of the players. There are still persistant world servers from freelancer working today with healthy player populations. |

I give kickstarter projects major consideration before I contribute. If the developers impress me with what they have already and seem to have a firm grasp on things I consider it. If all they have is a wing and a prayer and not even started the work on it then no thanks. I can wait till if/when it releases. As it stands i think it is a great vehicle for small indie developers/groups to source funding in a meaningful way. Just as it is a good way for big names in developing to make the games they always wanted to without worry of a publisher ruining the vision. Thats why I backed wasteland 2. I know of Fargo's work very well so anything with his input is a win by me. I also backed obsidians new rpg and 1-2 other titles that show great promise on indiegogo. But in the end you have to make the judgement call for yourself if its worth it for you. I would never back an MMO kickstarter. Too much risk. I would just reccomend you only back someone if they have some gameplay footage at least and something more than concept art. |
