I've been through so many servers looking for a good community, one that doesn't have so many immature kids running around being arses to random people just for the fun of it.

Does anyone know of any good servers to play on if you want a good community?

I'm using the settings suggested by the sticky, I've used those and I've used any of the default settings. Yes I have a good machine, no it doesn't happen on any other games but this one.

When I'm playing the game will freeze for a second and then my textures get REALLY bad(the quality), almost like I drop my texture resolution to low quality, then they go black, then eventually the whole screen will go black, then the computer likes up and you're forced to reboot.

I'm only able to play about 20 minutes or less before this happens every single time. I'm up to date on my video drivers as well.

Anyone know what video settings I should try to disable/enable to fix this?

But sometimes I get experience for killing mobs when its set to 100%, most times I get zero AA exp AND zero adventure exp. Where's the exp going that I'm supposed to be earning?

I see what it says, that it converts adventure experience, but what does moving the slider actually do?

If it's on zero does it mean I get zero AA experience when playing?

Well for me make lvl templar with maxed aa's the Armor really doesn't look like crap unless you got your setting down low if you do they would look shitty. On high my armor looks great the details some of them have are really nice and cool looking so this leads me to believe that you have your setting turned down and not on high or even the highest settings they have.

Also the higher you go you will see a few different armor looks the 1 I was wearing for looks when i left was like lvl 45 - 50ish stuff.

As for end game it is fun but really is not the easist to get into some raiding guilds unless they are looking for your class best class to be to get into a raiding guild is Mystic defiler inqs. If you suck at playing your char don't think you will have a good shot at gettin into on unless you know people in there. Most of the raids when I was playing were 1 person mess's up every 1 dies.

Lvling solo can be fun at times gettin a group to lvl can be a pain unless your in a good guild. Duo works great if you play the right class's.

Also for gettin resist's on some of your spells get the higher tier ones can cost some money easy to make up just collect shiny ? and sell them and go trasmuting and tras the gear you get and sell it. you can then buy yourself spells. Adept 3 or master spells helps a lot.

I think most will agree that the armor graphics in the game are bad because they're bad, not because of someone's graphics settings. I run the game at very high detail, it doesn't change the fact that the armor is horrendous looking. There's a difference between armor detail on low settings and armor detail on high settings. On high settings it looks bad :P

Ok, so I hit level 10 on my Mystic, his combat skills are capped out for his level, and now I'm starting to get resisted an insane amount again. Most mobs are resisting 2-3 times out of every 6-7 spells, and I'm fighting various amount of mobs. Is this just bad luck or is this how it's always going to be?

Yeah I was looking forward more to good responses about the game still being manageable in terms of leveling and lower content and actually having something to look forward to if you reach the level cap.

Also, last time I played, there was a bug with weapon skills that I was reading about on the forums and it was causing me to miss my attacks nearly every single time I used them unless my weapon skill was completely maxed out for the level. I would literally miss 8 special attacks in a row (playing a mystic) and it ultimately ruined my experience for the game.

I'm assuming that bug has been fixed by now and combat isn't all about praying that you actually hit your enemy? All the other times I had tried the game I had never had that problem, that's why I looked it up on the forums and people were reporting it as a bug.

So there's plenty of raid content that people are participating in?

It is not a bug, if you aren't maxed out with your weapon you will miss alot. At later levels you need to have items that increase your skills. It goes like this 5 skill points = 1 level. So say your 1h blunt skill is at 100, but you are fighting a level 27 monster. You will miss alot as your weapon skill is only at level 20. And a level 20 character would never be able to hit a level 27 monster. The good news is, you will gain skill points fast and it should take less than a half hour to get your skills maxed out if you started from 0, I don't think that should be an issue for you.

Once you get to 80, you will need to find gear that gives you bonuses to whatever skills you use so that you can be more accurate and hit for max dmg or be resisted less, etc... Most of the boss/raid monsters will be over level 80, so you have to have gear that gives skill bonues, all skills that would effect the monster. Melee skills and casting skills

The game has an awesome end game. I really love EQ2, the game has everything I want out of a MMORPG, except the performance. Alas, the game runs like absolute crap, even on my overpowered computer and I refuse to pay money to play a game that is so poorly optimized.

Yeah I understand how it works, but last time I played it was a reported bug on the forums that if you were fighting an enemy equal level and your weapon skill was 1-2 points away from being maxed out, you'd still miss an insane amount. So far I'm already noticing a big difference in the trial.

Back then, I would literally miss 8 times or more in a row, repeatedly. It was horrific, so it definitely wasn't working as intended, cause I was fighting equal mobs and my skills were always a couple points away from being capped out for that level.

I always thought this game was fun but I had a hard time wanting to look at my character at any point cause all the armor looked the same and looked horrific. Bare in mind, the highest level I've attained is like 25 or so, so it could just be the early levels, but is there any good looking armor at later levels?

Is the game still worth playing right now? Any end game content? Hard or fun to level in as solo, duo, or full group?

I played EQ2 for a while a year or so ago and while I certainly wouldn't say there were any armor sets that looked good (the graphics in that game in general are kinda blah), it was one of the most complete MMO's I have ever played and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Norrath.

With that said, for me personally, the opposite side of the spectrum is something like Aion that (IMO) has some of the best looking armor sets and the gameplay was boring as hell after level 30 or so.

I guess what I am saying is (again, imo), gameplay > graphics so if you liked the game I would say to continue playing it.

As to your other questions, there is plenty of endgame content in EQ2 if you are into PvE content and if you play on one of the more populated servers like Antonia Bayle, you won't see a shortage of people running around. Also, you can easily level in any way that fits your playstyle (solo, small group, raid).

Yeah I was looking forward more to good responses about the game still being manageable in terms of leveling and lower content and actually having something to look forward to if you reach the level cap.

Never really played EQ past level 10, I was always a UO guy. Looking for something "new", something I haven't played before and something with a lot of content.

Would EQ be worth playing now?

I hear leveling is still a pain, but that could be wrong, I'd like some facts on this. How is it soloing, duoing, or grouping?

If you've never really played it that much is it going to be too hard to get going and learn where to level, etc?

Is there anything waiting at end game or is the population too low?

FFXI is my favorite MMO but I have to say.. I don't think anyone (who isn't already playing) should play it. Instead read up on and get excited about FFXIV... because that looks to surpass the great FFXI in almost every way :)

Square Enix has already stated XIV is going to be a DIFFERENT game than XI, and it's focused on smaller groups and highly casual gameplay.  They will be offering two similar but different game styles, and personally, I'm excited for XIV to release but I have my fears of the above.  I'm playing FFXI because I'm tired of quest grinders and one of the devs mentioned a similar quest based system for FFXIV.

If this is the case, I see myself returning to FFXI indefinitely unless they offer a combined subscription plan (which I doubt).

I have read up on FFXIV extensively, and from every source I read. I'm seeing a completely different game than FFXI.. one that is more akin to WoW and the current style of MMO than its big brother. Look at EQ and EQ2.. everyone thought that EQ2 was going to be the second coming of EQ.. and sorry to say, it was a huge dissappointment for those thinking it would be anything like EQ.. two completely different games. Most EQ players hate EQ2.. I'm not wishing that on FFXIV, but if they do what I've read they plan to do.. thats exactly what they'll have.

I dont think thats the case. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who play FFXI casually and are unable to progress because of it.

My own personal issue with FFXI, Iv been stuck at CoP for over 3 months now trying to get help with the missions. There is nothing I can do in my power to progress further than having all the jobs I want already at 75 than to get CoP done and do some limbus, But alas no dice. Personally Iv been playing FFXI since 2004, and I can't wait for FFXIV. Mainly because in FFXI I have to rely on other people to enjoy the game and in a lot of cases there's nothing in my power I can do about it. I know a lot of people who have this same problem. They are stuck at some point in the game where no one can or is willing to help because they are not at that point or many other reasons besides levels and jobs.

Bottom line is true FFXI will stick around after FFXIV comes out, but just like EQ1 it will loose a TON of players to FFXIV a few will trickle back with time, but it will be a huge hit at least for the casual not end game community.

That basically boils down to the reason that I quit.

I got tired of being forced to need a group to get anything done.

While I understand "lol why play an MMO if you don't want to group?!", and its because not every day do i have time to log in and deal with others BS. Some days I want to log in, play by myself, then get a group later, or vice versa. I didn't like the option of not being able to solo effectively.

I heard something today from a friend of mine about some nice changes to the game that have been made that really speeds up leveling/soloing/ the game in general.

I hear that with signet, resting is now really quick, he said in his 30's, he'll rest to full in about a minute when he's low on health, when it would take a really long time.

He also said that soloing is very capable with Fields of Valor, said he soloed his thief in the 30's and would gain a level about every hour and a half.

Also, decent challenges and easy prey now give a lot more exp from what I've heard.

Are these things true or what they overly exaggerated?

If they made soloing, leveling, resting in general quicker and easier, I might reconsider subbing. Last time I played was RIGHT when they released level sync, and that was great, but leveling was still a pain and I couldn't ever level at all without a full group.

Can anyone who has played a lot recently tell me how things are now?

I've heard that the game is sort of like EVE in the sense that someone who plays more than you will always have a character higher skilled than you and you'll never be able to reach them, is there no cap on skill levels?

Also, does this require massive amount of play time to get anywhere or to be able to compete in sieges, competitive fighting, etc?

What game are you currently playing ?

Nothing currently, was looking for something new.

These posts gave me good reason to look past Darkfall, even if it is a good game. I don't have time to play it hardcore.

I thought I was clear when I said, 'You have already made up your mind.'  This is the clearest thing about your post so would I waste my time discussing the matter with you.

If I had made up my mind, I wouldn't be asked to be proved wrong.

If someone can reasonably explain to me why melee combat doesn't involve just left clicking to swing your weapon and kill your target, then I'll be sure to spread the word that melee combat isn't just click click click click click.

Positioning your character is done in many MMOs, I hardly consider that work or part of the fight process that doesn't involve "click click click". Positioning is something that should come natural, and should already be understood. Telling me you have to move your character to fight and avoid attacks tells me nothing that anyone who has ever played a 3rd person game doesn't already know...or a 1st person game for that matter.

You can power attack, whirlwind, knockback, sieze weapon, overhand chop, parry, disabling blow, jump and of coarse click, click, click.  To close range you may want to have sword and board to block since it is better than weapon parry.  You've got your double jump or sidestep.  A little distance you may want to heal up, replenish mana or stamina and shoot with bow.  It is very involving unlike many other games that I have played.

THANK YOU for answering my question and proving me wrong, that's all I wanted. Whirlwind, knockback, sieze weapon, overhand chop, parry, disabling blow, all are things I wanted to hear.

Thanks for not dismissing me as a troll because you didn't know how to answer my very simple question.

I am grumpy atm, I didnt get my archery buff this patch and I am pissed, But ya it is hard to tell who is a troll and who is not, sorry for that.

Apology 100% accepted and I completely understand, there ARE a ton of trolls on the DF boards. I hope you get your archery buff sometime soon.

They were going for real-time combat, that's why you click to swing your weapon. It sounds like you want turn based combat, Darkfall dosen't have that.

When someone argues that it's not just click, click, click. They're referring to tactics in regard to swinging your weapon while defending yourself at the same time. As in there's more to it than just clicking for the sake of clicking. We can all click, well those of us with fingers, however without learning what goes into a fight and what tactics win that fight. Of course you're going to think you're just clicking.

What you want isn't available in darkfall as it's not a turn-based game. Now before getting all hot and bothered about that, realize you're question was answered, you just didn't like the answer.

In short your mind is already made up, if you believe a fight is nothing but click, click, click, (as opposed to press, press, press, LOL). There's nothing that's going to change your perspective because you fail to understand the difference between random tactics and random clicking.

I never said I was looking for a turn based game.

My statement is as simple as this, try to follow, cause its not hard: combat boiled down to just swinging your melee weapon, no skills associated with it whatsoever(CHARACTER SKILLS NOT PLAYER SKILLS) which is very shallow and is too much like Oblivion.

What I wanted to know, is if that was TRUE. I have FINALLY been told it is not, and that you do indeed get skills associated with melee combat.

Goodness Darkfall fans are so blind to defend this game that they don't even understand what you type, maybe next time don't be so quick to judge someone who is legitimately asking about the game because there might be a negative comment in it. Thank you fans who read what I was asking and answered my question.

Darkfall is a game I've always wanted to try, but when I hear about the constant high level(skill) griefing and the "click click click click click" melee combat with zero skills associated with it(tell me if I'm wrong), and that archery and magic will almost always beat out melee, I just have no interest.

Lol archery and magic dont beat melee, whoever told you that is either 1. stupid and cant play 2. dont know how to melee 3. retarded.

Mount owns magic, When a melee gets into close range they own mages and archers,

The melee combat has gotten better, it is not realistic, but it is not click click click like the people who never played dfo before trolled you with, melee takes skill in timing predicting and evading and blocking and jumping and side stepping and double jumping and hitting the back, doesnt sound like click click to me.

Btw I proved you wrong, the people who told you that trolled you, welcome to the mmorpg.com forums for DFO.

So melee combat is moving your character and left clicking?

How's that different from click click click click click?

All the videos that people link of fun raids just show people swinging their melee weapons by clicking until the enemy is dead. How is that different from what I've stated?

You have to aim, you aim for the backs, you have to predict where he will move, Name me a game that isnt click click click the way you making it out to believe and I will think you are smarter then a 3rd grader.

You have special skills as well, like power shot, whirlwind, knockback* great when on a hill to give them extra damage, you have disabling blow when they are parrying, you also have mount combat, switching side to side, kick with the back of your horse, then you got the crouching/jumping doublejump/sidestepping in the mix,THIS IS A MMORPG WITH FPS COMBAT.\

If that does not explain why it is not just click click click, then you are hopeless.

That's what I was asking about, next time instead of dismissing me as a troll, just answer the simple question.

I think a free trial would do this game good, there'd be lots of newbies to group with to help fend off gankers...of course then again, gankers would also run more rampant I suppose.
