To the OP ....I dont think I can agree with your statement.I soloed a alot playing AC 1 and it is considered a  fairly hard game as long as you dont macro your levels.I think putting flashing yellow icons above quest NPC's,Dumbing down games to make the console crowd happy,Everyone wanting to copy the  WOW game, games where you hit max level in 2 weeks easy playing instead of years on one character before macro and exp chains,Taking away skill from combat and adding instancing , cartooney graphics,Taking away free for all PK ing, adding a sett class formula where you have to follow instead of skills and I could go on and on is what I think is ruining the current MMorpgs

I would play it.I would play almost anygame now if it was well made.Seems like good games were common pre-WOW and after 2004 it has hit the skids other than if you want to play WOW.

Thanks for the replies guys.I will keep an eye out for those games, maybe at least one of them will be what we are all looking for.I would love a new Asherons call 1 remake with same system but updated graphics but I guess that would be wishing for too much

Sorry that I went about it in a round about way.I just think as many of us as there is there would be a market for a sandbox game even though we came from playing different older games that were designed like that .I enjoyed the first KOTOR even though it was console like.A MMORPG made like that and SWG might be pretty good if they change it to open world.I am just really looking for a good game regardless whether itis fantasy or sci fi

hehe I was just reading up on wurm. That game may be too realistic for me.Like having to loging for real  time just to eat  and drink might be too much tasking for me that is.Some people who enjoy a lot of control would probably love it though.I really just want a game like AC was where you had to look for and discover questsnroam everywhere .No farming was necessary other than if you had craftings skills to make items such as arrows, potions and imbues on certain weapons

Ahh okies I didnt know spellborn was like that.I thought it was supposed to be a lot like AC was?

Ones that may have potential in playability like AC 1.Other than DArkfall and The chronicles of spellborn ?

People are less interested in them due to not get any good ones if they would go back to sandbox types like Ac,EQ  and SWG there wouldnt be a problem with intrest. But once they get those college degrees and see all those charts of what THEY THINK PEOPLE WANT ,they dont listen to what we the consumers tell them. The people who want dumbed down games are all playing WOW.There are plenty of us who want a seamless world, sandbox,no instanced,no flashing icons above NPC quests persons head,no hand holding linear path to finish a quest to keep a WELL DESIGNED MMORPG heavy in subscription numbers. To paraphrase from a movie.

"IF YOU DESIGN IT THEY WILL COME"

Ac 1.Still hoping for a remake of this game with updated graphics and content, world. But do not touch game mechanics, leveling system or seamless world.Leave them intact

I agree whole heartedly with Ac 1 people.I dont think there will ever be another game that is as well designed as far as game mechanics and playability. It had some flaws as every game does but when compared to other games in this genre they seem to fall short IMO.The game I think has died due to non promotion compared to EQ and other games ,old 99' graphics and the newer pretty but less content games. It was a heavy grinding game and was probably one of the slowest to level games until exp chains and macroing took over. The fact that people would spend a years on their characters made them very enthusiastic about their builds that the new 2 weeks to max level games of today dont have.Pretty sad really. If it was promoted better I think it would have done better than it did and maybe a newer AC would even be in the works.Funny thing is the majority of people who bad mouth the game (which is very few anyways),when you ask them if they ever played AC they say no.LOL, makes me laugh. There are a few games I have my eyes on right now but the bar is pretty high as far as I  am concerned with my 4 1/2 year experience with Ac.

Edit *   Also I think  Content/ Playabilty/Game Mechanics > Graphics ,any day of the week. I would much rather have a well playing game that has alot of well written quests ,seamless world and things to do than game that  has amazing graphics but poor design. After th OOhh and AHHh factor of the newer game subsides the ccntent and well designed game will keep people there and mostly happy other than class nerfing /ubering which is in every game. AOC is a perfect example of this .Sorry for the rant guys.

I would be willing to take a hit on graphics these days if a game had a seamless world, good playability ,content and game mechanics like AC 1 had

As true as it is in real life if you are given everything in life where you dont have to work for it you wont appreciate as much as if you did put forth effort.Video games are no exception.Hence why the MMORPG genre seems like it is stale. All these new games come out like Aoc and such that had so much promise but it ruins it.Game mechanics like instancing also ruin it but that is another story

I think a game designed where everyone can level in a short time is terrible.Proof is in the pudding so to speak.Everyone hits max level in a few weeks and the reward for the people who played long hours is gone ,everyone with almost the same skills ,atrtibutes and/or abilties.Of course I am probably one of the minority of people on this forum who spent 3 + years playing the same  character in a game like Ac leveling, exploring and yes ,grinding.I guess to each his own but as long as people like me are in the minority  I guess the current game mechanics will stay the same.

I think leveling should be very slow to max level or maybe never reach max level.Seems like everyone doesnt want to "grind" anymore ,reach max in a couple weeks then whine because they are bored now.if you take the time to level your chracter most people would find out they would enjoy the game more as well as more pride in the devolpment of their characters. I blame this quick gratifacation  and the people who want it this way as why we cant get a good sandbox game anymore like Ac 1,EQ 1 or SWG.

"Pookie"  the White Rabbit from AC 1 before everyone started hitting max level with their characters

If you even just tried to assess his Stats and Level when walking by his cave he would smite you to death

Only one sentence is needed to properly and completely answer your title question

"Because they do not listen to what their potential customers tell them what they want in a game" !

I think the problem is that people are wanting less grind these days where they can max level in a couple weeks. They play games with quick gratification and wonder why they get board with a game all of a sudden.A game where it might take a few years to max a characters level  you would have a lot more pride in that charater and enjoy the game more,it would be more of a challenge and sense accomplishment.Sadly these games are going by the wayside.

...Long live Ac 1 before exp chains... !

Ok click and shoot then.Thing I liked about Mw is you had to have timing and skill except with the missles which locked on of course

Ok is it skill based though with attacks or just watch your forces attack on thier own?

Only with space ships instead of mechs.I enjoyed the mechwarrior franchise it was pretty fun.Is this game skill based or is like Mw or just a point and click game?
