Simple math as I see it. Darkfall vs Mortal online. Darkfall is American and Mortal Online is Swedish. Mmorpg.com is America and not a swedish website.

Which would probably explain the negativity. Since mmorpg.com probably favours Darkfall, and most of the thread makers and posters too. Wouldnt be surpriced if mmorpg.com got money from Aventurine that made Darkfall also.

Yikes... I thought Darkfall was Greek!  Perhaps Tasos will have to come out of hiding to correct you. :P

I'm not sure I'm liking the first part of Henrik's conversation.  While there those that legitimately post criticism at SV, and some that are flaming angry at them, a lot has to do with how SV has handled MO as of late.  He can refer to us as trolls but I don't think that's fair in light of that most of our complaints are based on the quality of MO's code.  He doesn't seem to address MO's problems but seems to just attack the posters (or Trolls as he called us) for no reason than to "firefight" in an "us vs. them" mentality.

It doesn't sound constructive from his part, and gives the impression to his prospective subscribers that they lack confidence in their ability to succeed in bringing gamers a "stable" MO.

My advice to Henrik, find more investors, get more seed money, and go back to closed beta.  The game idea is still solid, and the niche market of MMORPG with heavy pvp, sandbox is needed.

Remember, most of us "trolls" as you call us, actually want this to succeed... instead of taking our criticism as an attack, take it as advice... put this game back into a LOOOOOONG closed testing cycle, then re-release later; we will appreciated a more polished product in the end.

All I'm asking for is to play as a friggin Jawa... is that too much to ask, Bioware!!!

@Cryptic.... faction request... ORION SYNDICATE....

'nuff said

I'm not sure what this is all about, but the pic on post #71 is hilarious!

Why can't I be a robo-slaverJawa, they are my all time favorite Star Wars race.    Jawa's are coolest!

The screenshots look interesting... will this be an MMO also? or Just multiplayer with a server/room list?

Greetings hidden1! This is an "Action RPG", similar to Guild Wars in its online component.

While the game has some flavors the likes of Diablo and Titan's Quest have, it is an Action RPG with a unique Strategy layer built in. Centering on that is a collectible stone system those who play Magic the Gathering might find appealing.

If you're interested in taking a peek at the game, sign up for the beta here: http://www.mytheongame.com.

We also have a ton of news and features coming out about the game right now on the developers website: http://www.petroglyphgames.com

Thank you for the info Berek... I am now downloading the cleint as of this post.  Can't wait to enjoy this as I do play Magic The Gathering Online, and I also play D2 from time to time.  Can't wait, again thanks!

I wonder why they closed it?  There wasn't anything too inflamatory in their posts?  What's Starvault afraid of?... one can only wonder.

So a studio mentions to post respectfully due to the overwhelming number of ill-informed, hateful posts on this site, and that spawns more hate?

I think it's the mentioning on their forums to post positive counter-propaganda to our supposed "ill-informed, hateful posts" as you put it that has cause a bit of a stir here.  While it's not necessarily illegal, there is a sort of suggestion of strategy that seems somewhat unethical, if not completely unbaised.  Doing as such would tend to leave one to believe that such tactics are an attempt at "fire-fighting" counter-propaganda campaign.  However in Starvault's defense, this suggestion as I read it on their forums was suggested by a member and not an official SV employee (well as far as anyone can tell).

Well above is my entire quote so that it's not taken out of context an deemed hateful.  The following is an example of what I mean by unethical tactics on Calidor's behave (or at least in his intent... zerogod seems okay though, and reasonable just to be fair).

I don't know about that. I've just read through a lot of their threads, and they make some valid points. Most of the posts don't even seem hateful, but like constructive criticism.

Well good luck to you Calidor, I wish you well, but I think I'll stay within the safety of the MO forums.

Logic? Impossible! Fanboys and Haters a like can be blind but in this case I think there is more valid points on the hate side than the fan side. All up to SV now. I really wanted this game to make it as it had some good ideas.

in b4 calidor.

I dont get it.  Are these people posting hate at a loss of money that they spent in a pre-purchase?  There is something I might be able to understand if they felt disenfranchised.  But to post so furiously in a disenfranchised tone about a community member mentioning that other sites are slamming them, and to post respectfully about the state of the game?  What's the fear for?

I'm neither a fan or hater, but as I did with DF, am waiting for the dust to clear on this title.  After I did so with DF, I spent 6 very enjoyable months playing that game hard; it was fun. And AV has a good product now.  I Just dont get this attitude.

I was just trying to answer to your post that not all of us in mmorpg.com are hateful nor ill-informed.  I respect you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't necessarily have to agree with it (well at least not in my case).

Again.  So they asked to post respectfully about facts relative to the game (aka propaganda), and you turn hateful.  Enjoy the hate.

I don't think he's being hateful at all.

OMgoodness, I don't think I'm being hateful at all, and you only quoted a small part of what I wrote.  It seems unfair, and now my quote seems hateful on the surface level.  Really that's unfair tactics Cik_asslin.  You just took what I wrote and put it in a completely different context, when I was only trying to be the voice of reason.

Edit:  Did you read any of my other posts here?  It clearly shows that I'm more of an objective poster.  I'm not bashing SV, but more a concerned hopeful for their MO title, and I understand why lots of other hopefuls are upset.

I am sick and tired of all the hostility and rivalry between supporters and haters. It has got to stop. It is not worth it to sit here slouched over and watching a screen with eyes glazed over while waiting to pounce on the most redundant shit in the history of gaming.

I don't know what's worse anymore. FPS or MMO gamers... I used to have faith in humanity, then lost that. I used to have faith in gamers but I've long since lost that as well. What does anyone get out of the fighting? Are they being paid to be assholes? Is there some secret reward for being the biggest douchebag on the internet? If so, I fail to see any of these benefits. Hell, if someone would like to tell me how I can get paid and rewarded for being a complete dick I will do it...

This is why I am nearly through with the MMO community as a whole. People are far too serious about these sorts of things. Veterans vs. noobs. Elitists vs. casual players. Power gamers vs. Roleplayers. It's so fucking disgusting. Have you people even got a clue?

Well just to try and be the voice of reason, most of the post in this thread weren't overly hateful... if anything they seem pretty level-headed, and perhaps sometimes flippant, they are mostly to the point.  While I understand your rant and frustration, if you read through all the posts in this thread alone, you'll see that there is a point to all this.  It's not necessarily "us" vs. "them", but more like we are being critical about issues w/ Starvault's quality assurance in regards to MO.  Let's face it, theres be plenty of legitimate issues people have posted, over and over, but that's because they want this game to succeed, rather than watching yet another of many indie MMO's fade away into obscurity and mediocrity.

When I first saw screenshots of this game, back before Darkfall was even released, I have to admit I have had my hopes up since then.  But with all the issuse that arrose, can you really blame people for getting a little bit mad at Starvault.  You have to admit quite a few things have gone wrong.

Personally I'd like to see this game succeed, but seeing the events leading up to present in regards to their title, please forgive those players who have become a little bit cynical and jaded thereof.  It's really not us vs. them, it's just we want a good MMO pvp game to be released... is it too much to ask for quality these days?

I was long time elite member of MMORPG and can say it become one of the worst community I ever seen. Just do not waste much time posting there - one good word will be enough I think.

I checked out the video, and read the interview.  Seems pretty neat for a f2p.  And while I don't tend to go for f2p titles, it was the eye-candy graphics and battle animations that caught my attention.  Also in the interview it's described as an action/rpg MMO so I figured this should be added here.  Enjoy the interview and vid.

Ohh .. its Mabinogi: Heroes ... they are just calling it Vindictus here in the west. Game looks cool , although a bit too Instanced

but will reserve judgment for when I can actually get my hands on it.

Yeah after seeing the vid one more time, I'm definately more than intrigued myself.  Yeah I never played Mabinogi because the graphics and animation in past vids never interested me, but from what I've seen and read in the interview, the only thing in common between this and Mabinogi is that this one seems to be a pre-qual to the Mabinogi story and that that is about all they have in common (well according to the interview).  Well the action on that boss demonic bear thing that party was fighting sure looked like exciting gameplay footage (well I'm assuming it's actual gameplay footage).  Needless to say I am intrigued for more info on this.

Well i hate to bring another game into this but WORSE happened in Eve where the GM,employee was abusing his power, and i bet this happens a lot in MOST games.I know of several where GM's abused their power including also FFXI a male GM for a female player and it was all over the chat waves for quite awhile, everyone asked the GM be fired and never was.In Eve's case they "claim" the employee was fired but of course not right away only after public pressure, and if he ever was, there is no proof anywhere. As a matter of fact FFXI has/had maybe the WORST GM i have ever heard of in any game,he is a total smart ass and admits to banning people because he just doesn't like you ,your a noob or he had a bad day.People used to praise the idiot who also ran a weekly blog ,bloating his immature accolades for banning noobs.

In this AV case,it shows how their "policy" can be totally lame, they say nothing they can do ,because it is policy, well BS on policy, you make a mistake ANYWHERE in life,it is EXPECTED to be fixed. That is like saying i a can steal money off your CC because it is our policy to do so lmao,BS,policy is another way of saying we are covering our ass for mistakes and screw the customer. In this case it is hard to tell if the GM was being a jerk or made a mistake,i really don't know why he teleport the guy,but no matter AV should fix it,and fix their lame POLICY.

The PROPER thing to do is EVERYONE cancel their accounts and AV WILL 100% guarantee get their act together, but you cannot count on your fellow gamer, they will screw you over before they help you[at least MOST],that is the sad reality of people. One day people might wake up and realize ,we DON"T need their games, moral issues are MUCH more important.

I don't think it's hard to tell if you read through all the text between the GM, the teleported player, and the chat between the GM and the looting player, you can clearly see he made an attempt at fixing his initial mistake.  I really think he seemed sincere in his attempt to fix his mess, but this might be a case of the GM's hands being tied do to what appears to be strick and limiting policy from AV.  It's sad to see a player who is paying monthly get the raw end of the stick, and even sadder to see how powerless GM's really are in Darkfall.

The only way to fix this is to delegate more powers to the GM in regards to policy incase such accidents happen again... however, again such powers come with higher responsibilities and unfortunately, higher temptation and likely corruption if the GM's were to abuse any new powers given them.

It's going to be a tough balancing act, but AV better officially address this as this may put off current and possible future players from subscribing.

I do agree with your quote btw, "One day people might wake up and realize, we DON'T need their games, moral issues are MUCH more important."  By sticking their heads in the sand like an osterich, and locking/banning threads on an apparent customer issue, they run the risk of not only luring future subscribers, but loosing some current ones who may be put off by their lack of customer satisfaction.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident for AV, but if not, it should be looked into and addressed both publicly and proffessionally in order to maintain some modecum of credibility in the eyes of their subscribers and/or future subscribers alike.

Why take such a hot, and great IP like Battlestar and make it browser-based.  Maybe Cryptic can pick this up and do what they did for the STO IP... on second thought, browser-based doesn't seem that bad... lol
