Star Wars: The Old Republic: Pricing May Have "Some Twists"

I hate this arguement so much. Cosmetic cash shops are okay because they do not affect gameplay? The items developed for cosmetic cash shops come from the same monthly fee everyone is paying. They are not employing a new dev team to make cosmetic items. Anything in a cash shop for a game that requires a monthly fee has been developed by the same team supported by that monthly fee. Cosmetic or not, cash shops do not belong in a pay to play game. Everyone is entitled to everything as they are paying for it already. Excellent point to quote you, "Cosmetic or not, cash shops do not belong in a pay to play game. Everyone is entitled to everything as they are paying for it already."
This only makes any company that practices p2p + store only items (eventhough they are only cosmetic), as extremely greedy and unfair to their p2p subscribers. |

Heck, taking AvP and working w/ that, I'm sure SEGA would one day make an MMORPG using the fps version as a base to start from. Who knows. Would be nice though. /shrugs |

The only way they could get me to spend money w/ micro-transactions is if Bioware sold a Jawa playable character through the store (as I love Jawas). But really don't do something like that Bioware! |

Thanks for the nice write-up! I might hit bestbuy and pick this one up. The Alien is already appealing to me from what you wrote. |

Move over Blizzard, Runic Games on the rise!

Eventhough the MMO version is said to be f2p when it comes out, I'll give this a go as I'm enjoying the single-player so much. I like all the special effects like how magic and certain skills look. Lots of detail to animation as well. |

Why is MMORPG.COM allowing a gold buying site to advertise here?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/18/10 12:45:14 PM
I've seen that argument before, and like the abortion issue, there seems to be no agreement. Some say they have a right to buy gold if they have a tough time w/ time constraints due to job and family, while others say if you don't have the time to begin with why bother playing it? Meh, there will never be a consensus on this. And, honestly, I don't even know where I stand on this anymore. /shrugs |

DDO Eberon Unlimited has the true Bard... in the sense that it's based on the pen & paper Dungeons and Dragons rules/character class. |

I like the dual weilding, Witcher-looking guy with the hat and feather. Nice action pic. |

I just want to farm bosses over and over and get diablo style ubber lootz... and play as a Jawa. |

If the summoner class is as powerful as the Hellgate summoner, who could take on all the bosses solo, then I'll give FF14's summoner a go. |

I'm used to hardcore mode in D2 and Hellgate... not sure what's more harsher than loosing your max'd level toon, along w/ your stored items and money... 0 HP = poof all gone! |

I just don't want to be stuck in yet another mmo where I'm typing "LFG blah, blah, blah need if tank, blah blah, pst, blah blah" for like 2 hours... then logging off in disgust. Honestly I join mmo's for party play. Also, Bioware better make a playable Jawa race! |

Been to a few sites, and some say some time this year, while others say some time in 2011 for NA regions. Wish I knew for sure. Regardless of my distaste for the item shop, no other game that satisfies the diablo loot-whores, the rpg toon builders, and the fps action crowd quite like HGL. And, those are 3 reasons why I'll return to it. |

Now we are getting to the fun part :) You pre-ordered (what does that actually mean?) based on what you imagined the future to be. Why would you do that, put actual money up? Is it because you felt the thrill of getting in on something early? The risk? So take the risk. If you want to put money up for a "pre-order" then take the actual risk. Pay the money you said you would. @slapshot: you've more than explained yourself on various occassions, and all quite reasonably. Slapshot, I'm satisfied w/ your explanations. @olepi: I'm not sure what your intent is, but it seems you want to argue in a circular fasion w/out actually getting to the point. Honestly I don't know wether you're sincere or arguing just to argue, but frankly it's getting quite annoying. |

Well, just to be clear, you always had access to the game. You could always form an impression of the actual game, and buy it or not. You bought it. What you are complaining about is the little figurines and bag, that have nothing to do with the actual game. You are correct there, the supplier of these items fell behind, and you got them late. Their communication could have been better, of course. What I find "weird" is that people will pay for a game, MO or STO, up front, and then later they want to "charge it back". It is almost becoming a new norm. Just to chime in here... I agree it's becoming a "new norm" as you put it, but that could also be due to more and more companies puting out product, or even open beta before it's ready. To me it just seems like as of lately more mmo's are coming to open beta "buggier" and less polished. Just my opinion. |
