You'll most likely get bored of such a game as TOR when your balls drop and you stop talking with a squeaky voice. |

They've taken many good Pc gaming companies under their wing and killed what made their games loved by their fans. Go have a google on how many companies with land mark Pc game titles EA has taken over and picked apart ,only for later titles released under the same name to be a shadow of the games they were making before. People seemed to have forgotten about that for a time, Bioware is just one of their later companies they're now ruining the magic touch they had before. |

Hypothetical: MMO Cull - what would survive
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/28/12 1:22:02 AM
Ultima online EA's and the free fan services will still be standing. There's a lot in UO todays new developers can learn a lot from on what makes a MMO last. There more stories to be told in UO experiences than 1000 of TOR put together. |

Not any time soon, but it will have a constant revolving door of people coming in and out. This will be due to how fast you level in the F2P STO. I came back at LT 16 where I left it after my first month when it was first release and with in a week of casual play I'm now Capitan 36. A game with very little content and dull end game people will feel inclined to not log in. I'm already bored of it again already. The Duty offer system is just stale. They have fast levelling and then add this to it to make it faster. The whole raid for an item that goes into the need for greed is dated and not fun any more, and that's all you have to do end game. With the slow progress that will be done on the game this year, this game will be a year away from anything meaningful happening to it. |

analysts predict 75%-90% retention rate o_0

Retention rate of the share holders squeezing their buttocks together more like over the worries of the longevity of a MMO shoved into a single player hole. |

TOR Founding Member email - What a Joke

It's really staying. "Sub even though you played our single player MMO and all it has to offer ,and you will get a medal & title to show others how special you are" *rolls eyes* You've got to be a brainless consumer to pay a sub just for this fluff if you were going to cancel. They must know the cancel button going to get hit a lot rolling this out as they have. Well if they didn't take the community tools and M out of MMO things might have more life when people have been lead to the end of the game by the game and not by their own path. |

Does anyone else remember the day Brad Sold VG to SOE?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/14/12 1:57:13 AM
Yes I remember, he was also very addicted to prescription pain killers too during a lot of VG's development when it was Sigil if I remember right. |

I so hope May is going to be released date and the date in the PS2 story was an easter egg for SOE's goal to get it out the door by then. This is the only MMO I want to play! I hope the dev team nail the performance down quick now they got all the assets in put all together and now it's all about the balance and getting it to run good with a lot of peopl, the beta testers! |

and so the cat is out of the bag! EA has done it again! [High Rez Textures Thread]

"I have to briefly talk about MMOs and their engines."
Nope you just have to talk about TOR and its rubbish choice of engine! SOE FL engine cleans the floor with this engine and certainly doesn't have the restrictions EA are making out for excuses, as do other engines out there who certainly don't fit EA's excuse of " other MMO's and their engines" blame game. No the truth is you picked an engine that had other short comings, but you wanted some of it pros leaving you to make up long BS reasons to explain yourself like this. I have one word for you EA “tessellation” come into the 21 century and use it! You may of not had this issue in the first place, but oh wait they can't do that, they've got console plans for it no doubt! |

EverQuest II: Stats Show Impressive Growth Since F2P
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/10/12 8:25:27 AM
The funny thing is, " The really good competition" *cough* TOR, uses the same setup as EQ2 with the zoning, and each zone has different instances to go to if one gets full. I remember the screams about this when it was released, yet barely here people moaning TOR is this way.

When TV was first invented and not shown to the public yet, it was 3D, the inventor then dropped that design for a 2D display design for the simple fact, we see it as 3D on 2D screen anyway. When you play 2D, you don't view your fps game as 2D when playing, your mind sees it as 3D, you sense depth, you have a sense of 3D objects and world. So you'll always have people whose minds get on with with 3D'ing their 3d mind, if that makes sense, and people whose minds don't get on with it, for this reason, 3D gaming, and media in general, will never put a stop to gaming/movie watching on 2D monitors/screens as its the visual form of Marmite, you either hate it or love it. |

Star Trek Online: Early Access Starts January 5th
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/05/12 3:24:39 AM
This li shell of of a Star Trek game that's an insult to the IP will not get me back, even if free. The only credit due for this game is a pat on the back of the art designers, at least they got that right. The rest is a two year rushed half ass of a game that's got a poor foundation to try build and improve anything on. Scrap it and lets try again with a ST MMO, as this isn't it. |

SWTOR hits the British press again: S&M "shocker" outrages non gamers!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/05/12 3:13:55 AM
Starting the day with Newspaper every day is one way to be robbed of your own thoughts and the mindset you would have had for the day with one fabricated by some editor and his goons that's nothing but, some spin, a sprinkling of half truths, and a lot of lies, and paying them for the privilege. Look how they affected you, they've affected you enough with this BS out of the mind of a newspaper employee to fill a column to come here.
Nose first thing in the newspaper people are the zombies minds for these Newspaper companies to profit by shovelling mostly shit in to their minds each day and they keep coming back for more like lab rats. They don't have their own opinions any more, only that of the newspaper they read, put there by agents of influence working for political parties. Do yourself a favour and don't put money into the pockets of the scum behind Newspapers today, especially the UK ones.

Most Pc will buy/pre order a DVD copy online at places like Amazon, as its often a lot cheaper to buy the DVD there than in the shops, even more so once the game is a couple months old, it's always cheap on Amazon. Pc gamers don't really walk in shop to buy anymore, either digital or a pre order/buy on line for cheaper. |

Game of the year for the Kids MMO section more like, kids only fall for this stuff. Game of the year belongs to the developer who gave out the most money for a positive opinion to be slapped on to the back of their game. It's all been mediocre mainstream rubbish this year that the masses drool over as they do their Mc D's happy meals.Being a Pc gamer today in the age of crossplat developers gone mad, is like walking up to a nice dressed up pretty whore in an Amsterdam red light district window, as soon as you pay your money and get to unwrap your prize to have some fun, you are greeted by fake boobs, and a penis, then asked to bend over as she takes out the lupe. |

My God...This will be the best mmo ever !
General Discussion « The Secret World 1/02/12 12:38:39 AM
Nope think again, SW is done on same dated engine Funcom used for AO and Age of instances. It's a MMO that will feel dated mechanic wise, and mechanical abilities open for developers to use to create fun new interesting gameplay limited. Enjoy the secret world of instances. |
