What should have been a single player and gone the route with some multi player like MW3 has, instead of trying to make a MMO out of single player game and then charge a monthly fee for it. TOR should have been “Knights of the old republic 3”, a game that's played in single player or at least in Co op with 2 to 4 friends. Going for the MMO title for their game they've reached to far with the IP in trying to keep it in line with the games before and have it be a MMO too. EA has done Bioware no favours taking the IP to the MMO genre. |

What was the first signal to you that this multi-multi-million dollar game was seriously flawed?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/12/12 2:39:02 AM
When Bioware under EA announced they were making a Knights of the Old Republic MMO trying to be a single player and MMO at the same time. |

Sneaky little post you made there SV, trying to get ER players left without a game on board with a little sneaky hype up MO thread disguised as a player banter post? I don't blame you I suppose. There's a few lines in this post that stand out as the same lines found in a few other MO threads on these forums in the last few days which makes me think its the same person. |

Full loot will = low subs after a time. Too many anti social communities out there now who aim is to grief in such games big time using exploites and hacks. Any server setup in this way will just be exploited by these communities at the expense of others. The MMO genre is just too open to greifers so it's never a profitable choice for a company to go the full loot route. |

DOTA2: Blizzard Suing Valve Over Trademark
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/11/12 3:02:26 AM
Valve, the last of the truly great developers! Blizzard are scum bags how they've gone as a company since the merger with Act! Blizz is not even made up of the original talent which gave Blizz its name! They left and some of those created the company that made Guild Wars & now Guild wars 2, and the few others on th diablo team created their hit in the hack and slash last year and making a another to take on Diablo, they were the real talent behind the creation of Warcraft IP & Diablo and it shows in Guild wars 2. Blizzard is in name only now, not developer talent. Now they're acting like Apple with this sue business. With no Valve the mod community that gave rise to such things would never had grown as a community to lead to such things! |

The Secret World: Are the Floodgates Opening?
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/09/12 10:17:12 AM
Ao,AOC very rough launches! Could this be FC's chance to show us they can't launched a product somewhat polished this time? Or will it be the same old release in a mess and race to fix into a working one, which they do have a good trace record of doing at least, but it will be nice if they can do that before it's released this time.

I'm looking for a game with a lot of cooperation involved or maybe you fight giant monsters.
LFGame « General Discussion 2/09/12 1:54:04 AM
Darkfall 2.0 when it released sometime this year and Guild Wars 2. That's what to look out for this year that's new. Tera looks to have big monsters to fight as well, which just been released in USA. |

If only I could log into my MMO and find a world empty of children...

It really sounds like you just need to turn off the general chat in MMO's and pay it no attention. |

Because they've gone mainstream and cost a lot of money to make, so they're made to appeal to the most common denominator, and take less risk by repeating the most successful formula on the market in hopes to gain some of the pie.
News trends start when someone dares to do something different, which then becomes a successful hit with gamers, but nobody with any real developer talent backing them up wants to go first! Yet they wast money doing rehashes of other successful MMO's formula's many players already feel jaded with, and just adding their own small twist which barely advances the genre. GW2 & Planetside 2 only seem the 2 worth playing this year.

You'll most likely get bored of such a game as TOR when your balls drop and you stop talking with a squeaky voice. |

Originally posted by xDayx If you're a Pc gamer, then you should know why there's a hate towards EA for many reasons. They've taken many good Pc gaming companies under their wing and killed what made their games loved by their fans. Go have a google on how many companies with land mark Pc game titles EA has taken over and picked apart ,only for later titles released under the same name to be a shadow of the games they were making before. People seemed to have forgotten about that for a time, Bioware is just one of their later companies they're now ruining the magic touch they had before. |

Hypothetical: MMO Cull - what would survive
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/28/12 2:22:02 AM
Ultima online EA's and the free fan services will still be standing. There's a lot in UO todays new developers can learn a lot from on what makes a MMO last. There more stories to be told in UO experiences than 1000 of TOR put together. |

Not any time soon, but it will have a constant revolving door of people coming in and out. This will be due to how fast you level in the F2P STO. I came back at LT 16 where I left it after my first month when it was first release and with in a week of casual play I'm now Capitan 36. A game with very little content and dull end game people will feel inclined to not log in. I'm already bored of it again already. The Duty offer system is just stale. They have fast levelling and then add this to it to make it faster. The whole raid for an item that goes into the need for greed is dated and not fun any more, and that's all you have to do end game. With the slow progress that will be done on the game this year, this game will be a year away from anything meaningful happening to it. |

analysts predict 75%-90% retention rate o_0

Retention rate of the share holders squeezing their buttocks together more like over the worries of the longevity of a MMO shoved into a single player hole. |

TOR Founding Member email - What a Joke
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/19/12 2:45:18 AM
It's really staying. "Sub even though you played our single player MMO and all it has to offer ,and you will get a medal & title to show others how special you are" *rolls eyes* You've got to be a brainless consumer to pay a sub just for this fluff if you were going to cancel. They must know the cancel button going to get hit a lot rolling this out as they have. Well if they didn't take the community tools and M out of MMO things might have more life when people have been lead to the end of the game by the game and not by their own path. |

Does anyone else remember the day Brad Sold VG to SOE?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/14/12 2:57:13 AM
Yes I remember, he was also very addicted to prescription pain killers too during a lot of VG's development when it was Sigil if I remember right. |
