I guess it depends on what the player considers "skills". As you mentioned, they take different types of skill. While tab-targeting has it's decisions to be made (spell choices/ combos, where to stand, who to target, and so on), it just seems to me that active targeting has all of them; plus aiming and moving too. If you can eat a sandwich while in combat in one and not in the other it would seem like the latter would require more "combat" type skills. Eating a sandwich should be more of a crafting time kind of thing. Just my opinion.

The issue isnt just about eating food while playing, you actually lose a lot of the social aspects to the game. couple that with fast respawning mobs and you can forget about chatting with the folks.  I dont hate reticule targeting as it can make for interesting fun, I just prefer tab targeting in mmos.

Lool yea okay, if that is the bar, sure, tab targetting takes skills as well "rolls eyes"

Laugh all you want, I have seen many wipes cause some idiot tabs the wrong mob and brings a train onto the group. I would in fact argue that tab targeting, especially in a dungeon full of mobs can require more skill than reticule targeting. Not all mmos make tab target the next closest mob which can cause lots of problems if you are not good at it.

Tab targeting all the way. If I want twitch combat, I play fps's for that. I like my tab targets when it comes to mmos. Tab targeting takes skill to, you tab and fire at the wrong mob, you can kill your entire group.

Favorite class of all time is the EQ magician. best pet class ever made.

Favorite race would probably be the fae from EQ2. The racial ability of (basically feather fall) was soooo worth every second of stairing at those wings lol.

They have already stated that they have another 3 classes pretty much ready to go immediately after launch, just they were figuring out how to monetise them.

I would say Ranger and Druid are a safe bet for classes immediately after launch. Hopefully Bard as well.

And you believe that, dont you? What is immediately after launch? 1 day, 1 week, 1 month? If the classes were "ready to go" then they should be in the game at launch. According to the mods on their forum, the classes are supposed to be free, so are we really waiting for them to monetise them? While it didn't really affect me in STO, but its been 3 years now and they still havent put in klingon PVE yet, and that was also promised to be put in as well. So, yeah, my faith in them living up to their promises is not very high.

For me, its the lack of a class that I want to play.  How in the heck can a company release a game in this day and age with so few classes, from a game that has a boatload of different classes.  This goes right back to many of the games being released only being half done.  I was actually excited for this game till I saw the complete F.U. that cryptic did to its fan base with these class selections.  I never regretted my lifetime sub I did for STO, but I can honestly say I am 500% glad that I did not buy that for this game. I really was looking forward to this game to. Gah, even being free, I may not ever touch this game after the big FU that cryptic gave us.
I was really hoping someone would know about the astral diamond stuff.
Ok here is my question. Astral Diamonds. What are they worth in real cash? The early one says you are getting 750,000 astral diamonds. So trying to figure out what that is in terms of Perfect worlds Zen currency.

did they mention putting more classes in? I.E. Barbarian, Paladin, Ranger and the other staple classes from the core rulebook?

5 Classes will be in at launch, you already know them by now. They added in the Q&A that they will release other classes "continously post launch". I guess one of the first if not the first to be added will be Ranger, seeing as there's no option for bow lovers at the moment (a friend of mine  is very pissed for this).

I'll add that I asked them if they planned to release some large-group oriented content postlaunch, and they actually answered that they have "awesome large-group oriented content" already in, although they have not announced it yet, and that they're also pretty excited for it. This is pretty big news as there were no hints of this whatsoever.

This really bugs the crap out of me! How can they even think of releasing the game without a ranger class in it? That is freaking staple D&D (at least IMHO). I supported cryptic in STO by buying the lifetime sub right up front but there is no way in hell I am buying the founder pack in a game that  sounds like its being half-assed released. While I enjoyed STO and still do to a certain extent, at least when it released you did have all the playable classes there lol.

IMO Everquest and all its brethern are the most idiotic form of gaming in the RPG formula.  At no point in any history of Fantasy Medium has "raiding" or large scale interactions meant anything.  From Books to Games and Movies to LARP'ing, the smaller the group composition is the more heroic the deed.  The "raid" is either non existent (Drizzt novels) or in the background (LotR).

The beauty of EQ was that it was so difficult to reach max level and then have the time to raid it really never even occured to me that raiding was an option.  I enjoyed raiding in WoW, but raiding in EQ was truly for the crazy people that had infinite amounts of time on their hands....as such I never felt the requirement to raid.

The majority people that claim to hate raiding are obvioulsy people that were left out of a raid and had their feelings hurt.  Why the hell else would you care about raiding if your feelings weren't hurt?  As I posted above, I thought EQ raiders were so crazy that I didn't care what they did...I wasn't even really playing the same game as they were.

Really? So the only reason people may not like raiding is because they were left out of a raid? LOL! It couldn't have anything to do with the endless grind, or insane timesinks, or even not liking big huge groups, no sir, it has to be because they got left out of a raid. Yep, I guess you got all of us people that dont like raids figured out. Sigh....

Oh I agree with you 100%. I absolutely hate raiding. if you can not do it with a single group, it shouldnt be in the game, in my opinion. But If a game wants to have it, thats cool to, doesn't mean I have to do it. I just wish more mmo's would realize that raiding is not everything and try to make the entire game a single group game instead of completely changing it at max level.

Exactly, How in the hell could you possibly ever call EQ a themepark game? It had very few quests in it originally and to even get a quest you had to figure out what you needed to say to the person to ever actually get the quest. yes, it may be a themepark type now, but it certainly was not back then.

I have been playing it since it released. I have other games I am playing as well so it took me a long time to get to 80. I just hit 80 a couple weeks ago on my ranger. Once I got around 30+ I really started enjoying the game more, my ranger was moving up in power and was just a blast to play, at least till around 70ish. That is where the game has failed for me. One set of creatures in the game I have always hated is the undead/risen crap. They are vastly more powerful than their normal mob conterparts and unlike the normal mobs, they almost exclusively ignore your pets and go after you. They are faster, hit harder, have higher hitpoints and are just a huge pain in the ass.

Enter levels above 70+... The entire zone is all undead/risen crap. They put groups of mobs so close to each other that it is dang near impossible to fight only 1 small group. Running through the zones is absolute insanity due to how they have the mobs positioned. Dont even think about waypoints. 95% of them are ALWAYS contested so you can't spawn at them if you want to. I was/am extremely disappointed in Orr and how they set that entire zone up. Oh, and not only do you have to try and deal with the zone, your final story, you know the one you have been forced to solo the entire game? Yep, you guessed it, the final fight you are now forced to group for it. That simply does not make sense in any realm. it is supposed to be YOUR PERSONAL story yet the final fight you are forced to group? What were they smoking when they did that? Grouping is fine and all, but again, this is your own personal story that you have solo'd all the way up with. Oh well, hated/still hate Orr with a passion and frankly do not want to level another character up just to have to go back to freaking orr again.

Hrmm that is wierd. Amazon downloader was very small. It basically gave me the key and told me to go register on tsw website and to download it from there. Not sure how anyone is able to actually download it from amazon itself.
Well I had a $10 credit on my account and went to buy this game. Got it for 7.99 :) I think even if it sucks, $8 is not going to break the bank lol.

How easy is this program to use?

Extremely easy and hard at the same time. The easy part, get the sweetfx configurator. it makes installing and uninstalling super easy. You run the configurator, tell it where the game exe is your wanting to add sweetfx to, then tell it to install. The uninstall is just as easy. The hard part is figuring out what settings you want to use. the configurator gives you a semi graphical user interface to the ini file and describes a little bit of some of the things the ini does. I really like the configurator as it makes things a little easier.

Wow...just wow. Its just the biggest road block for no reason what-so-ever. The long a$$ story is solo right up to the very last part and then Anet says you have to do a group dungeon first before you can finish.

No wonder they didn't win GotY.

GW2 has so many roadblocks and grinds, I am truly surprised the GW2 fanbois don't call it a korean grinder.

Endgame and everything about it is nothing but grind.

These are sad days for MMOs..  Oh noooooo, I have to group up for a bit in a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE ROLE PLAYING GAME!!!!

Actually the OP has a fair point. This is a PERSONAL Story. Why do you need to group to do your own story line?

because in your adventure you encounter other people who give you a helping hand along the way ?

I see you couldn't think of anything. No other PERSON helps you with your personal story. You meet npcs along the way that gives you a hand, but for your personal story, it is strictly just you alone. So why do they force you to group for a story that you are supposed to do by yourself?

I already have all cores unparked. I have no problems where my fps is at right now.

I just started using it with GW2 a few days back.  Got it fine tweaked to GW2 and it looks really great.

Some may not realize, not only does it give a graphical bump, but SweetFX uses your GPU not your CPU.  So it can drastically aid in making a game run smoother, as you can turn a few graphical options to low in GW2 and there will be no difference while using SweetFX, except that your game should run better while looking great.  Some say to turn all the graphical options on low, but you probably shouldn't do that, as some of them still do have a very noticeble affect on grame graphics.  But on some options, yea, you can turn them down and there won't be a difference.

I plan to try SweetFX with many games in the future.  I'm thrilled with it so far.

I have everything set on as high as it goes in game and sweetfx caused me around 5-7fps downgrade. I am still in the upper 60's to lower 70's so well worth the small loss for a more vibrant and dark world.
