OP, do you have ANY experience in Corporate business? There are many layers of people working a project like this. The "top brass" are the ones calling the shots. The developers are doing their job while others make changes for whatever reason they choose. Have you ever worked in an IT environment in any capacity? $hit happens, ALL the time... Anything can go wrong during the development from hardware failure to software programming that takes time to identify and resolve. You can be T'd Off for whatever you choose but the folks making MMOs are busting their humps to get it completed and working the way it's supposed to. For YOU! OP, you would probably Bash them the same way if it was released unfinished with issues. But in the end you can feel the way you choose....I wouldn't want your perspective on life....GL!

You answered it with your Vote choice.... "Age of Conan will be a solid, great game.. for those that like it's gameplay and hardcore elements of mmo games." You get what you EXPECT. Some have realistic expectations while others will be let down by their irrational or negative perspective. Last but not least...why does it HAVE to be compared to WoW?

This is a NICE screen shot. AO is full of Christmas quests.
You don't know much about Pigs though. They are smarter than the vast majority of animals. Put in an enclosed area they all dump in one corner to keep things orderly.... |

I just started a toon in this game so was looking thru the forum to see if I could get any info to make the curve shorter. Couple things regarding OP and responses. If you "grind" Orange" mobs you gain 1-3+ exp per kill, much more then others that have posted. Check the sticky at the top, some very good info. Community is lacking a bit but I've played just a few days. Plenty of Invites for group but I did not accept until I had a better feel for it. After that I grouped a few times with higher lvl toons that buffed me to the max and helped me gaine several lvls assisting when would agg more mobs than I could handle. As I lvl up it seems would appear the community aspect is also getting better but I have a few issues with the Chat system. Nor going to get into that here tho. There are times the experience lacks when skills and current lvl lag due to the diperity between the mobs you can handle from a solo perspective. Most of the skills take a lot of grinding to increase only to lvl up and get a "better" line of the sme basic skill then you have to grind to improve again.

Anarchy Online was suggested but you did not respond to it specifically. The Basic game is Free with all the content of the original release. It is one of the longest running MMOs and still one of the most involved available with a SciFi based concept. There is a lot of back story that is honestly very good. Go to "The Story" on the left side of the Main page: http://www.anarchy-online.com/wsp/anarchy/frontend.cgi?func=frontend.show&template=main You can play for free and if you find it compatible and interesting you can upgrade to the expansions. During your free play, there will be time to talk with other players about the expansions to give you a better idea and understanding of what to expect. The community as a whole is very helpful. Getting into a good Org will benifit your experience as well as helping to understand the somewhat involved learning curve.

Originally posted by Norborb Maybe I'm not understanding just what it is you are looking for...You are in control. I can play ANY MMO, for any "amount of time" I choose, solo OR in party. Obviously solo I make all the calls. In party you should know before hand what kind of time sink is required for the task. Not all party endeavors can be performed by just any group of players. I've been in party originally specified to accomplish X objective, that typically will require 1-2 hours for example. then. 30 minutes into it, the "Leader" informs everyone else, "I need to go do this while we are here". this takes 20 minutes that was not planned. At 2 hours into the original objective, I inform I will be leaving shortly. I "played" the known amount of time and leave shortly there after. If that is not acceptable, so be it. I won't group with that Leader again. Another example is the team just doesn't mesh and the task is taking much more time to accomplish. There should be no negatives to leave. If there is, I don't need to join that group of players in the future. If you know the game, you should know the time sink to participate and accomplish it. Sure there are wipes and unforeseen things that can occur. Take those into account from the start. Make it known what your time limit is. If it's a known 2+ hour task and you are approaching 3 hours and not close to the goal, there are no stead fast rules for staying. If you join with "the gaming elite", you should be aware of the "requirements". The "gaming elite" usually have no regard for "time" or a RL in general. YOU need to make that decision and accept the responsibilities that are expected. Your expectations are irrelevant to them. As stated above, I'm in control of the "amount of time". |

The starter areas can be a bit overbearing. The higher you get the better the community gets. I've always found players to be very helpful and generous. Get into a well run, active SG. You may have to try a few to find the ight one but it will make a huge difference. |

The game is 'alive' from where I'm looking. My Org is 600+ members, 100-150 actual players and their alts. Any given day there are at least 408 players on and during the prime time 15-25+ There are always people from smaller guilds in Quest chat. Level range is across the spectrum from low lvl beginers to the 220 crowd. You need help there is always someone willing to log an Alt to accomodate. |

We 'the people', would lose the most while the other countries would gain the most. We would nolonger be a Nation, our borders would be non-existant. There is a lot more to it than making the US dollar more valuable witin the WORLD concept. There is way too much emphisis regarding the 'value' of 'money'. Our identity, the Unites States of America, would fade in to an opaque meaningless oblivion. This concept is NOT in the best interest of 'the people'. We 'the people' need to take control of the irreverent political realm in this country. We need to Wake Up! OR Kiss It All Goodbye....... |

There has always been a lot of graphics intensive ads on the site. Can't say I have an issue with them. The most annoying for me are the Flashing ones. They make my eyes hurt but my PC keeps on fine. |

So far so good not much flame yet... I like WoW for the most part. It does get repetitive at times. I have found once you get a main to 70, playing that toon in moderation helps getting burned out. I started several Ats of different Profs. There is a difference playing Hunter or Warlock. Variety and moderation with daily time spent in game will keep it more interesting than grinding the same toon day in and day out for hours on end... Try it to determine for your self. |
