Why does there have to be this animosity among gamers when it comes down to taste. Some people like this, some people like that, good for everyone. Don't like LOTRO, then go play a game you do like, and leave those that do like it to enjoy it. Same goes for WoW, and every other game out there. I don't have a problem with someone not liking a game, and even telling others why. What I do disdain, and not understand, is this overwhelming desire to just smash people who DO like a game you yourself don't like. It's a sort of childish psychosis that is just beyond me. There are tons of games I don't like, for various reasons, but I don't feel the need to go into forums for those games, or gaming forums in general and blast away at it every chance I can find, or make fake accounts to slam a game or its players....I just don't play it. Is it that hard?

Geesh..

Well put...unfortunately there are those that thrive on the negative. As you put it, a "childish psychosis"...those afflicted with it ironically, don't have a clue what it means...

If I recall there is already a post on this topic confirming it won't happen anytime soon if ever....reasons are outlined in the article itself.

"lack of a keyboard and mouse holding back any console renditions of World of WarCraft"

First...it's worth the trial just to check it out rather than just take the word of some disgruntled people responding here.

Not sure why there are so many sore spots contending the community is noobs and '10-12 year old...not my experience and I have played on at least 5 different servers.

Maybe English isn't your primary language but I truely beleive if you tried just a 'bit' more youcould construct some relatively coherent sentences...unless of course you choose to be cryptic which is anything but appealing. It makes you look a bit dense

Honestly I only scanned trhu this link starting with the OP. Didn't really read ALL the posts cause they are basically the same with a 'few' that will stand out as useful information.

My take on GRINDING? It is what YOU make it............

Any MMO I have played, hell anything at all that I have done or do now, I can make a GRIND.

I choose not to and you can too. There are plenty of things to do in MMOs than GRINDING.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6619875.stm

EDIT:  Linking is cool!

Article indicates Blizzard is attempting to inspire and welcomes other MMO creators to meet and/or beat them in an effort to reshape the MMO concept.

They state AOC is intended to be a more adult player conceptey don't want to be "teen tagged' so they are making the game more interesting to those with a more mature experience in RL.

Only time will tell sometime later this year..........

Quite fun.

New kid on the block is Lord of the Rings Online.
So far, very heavy on Questing for fastest advancement.

A good MMORPG with much less focus on Questing in Anarchy Online.
And, you can download and play the full base game for as long as you want for free.
Only if you want to play the expansions do you need to purchase and pay a monthly.

Luck

Shoal is right on...or 'spot on' if you prefer lol

Played AO from Closed beta thru Shadowlands expansion then kinda burned out like all the WoW folks are experiencing now, myself included. Created 2 free AO accounts and am playing again. It is a great change of pace, worth a look at least.

Bottom line it will vary from server to server. I have characters on several different servers mostly PvE but a couple on PvP also.

I find the childish immature play is about the same. It's not accurate to definitely say one is more childish than the other.

My very first character was a NE female Hunter on Stormrage.

I will never forget the first time I ventured out far from a city solo exploring. I was maybe lvl 20ish and encountered 3 Horde players lvl 40+. They came up and challenged me to duel, taunted, with /chicken AND making sexual gestured for 10 minutes or more. I just sat down and waited til they finally left. Several minutes later the appeared again and it statrted all over.

I logged for the night....

After TBC I wanted to try a Blood Elf. As sson as I left the training grounds I was astonished at the continuous general chat dissing Alliance players as being Stupid and Immature....

My experience has been that Horde appear more confrontational, which I consider Juvenile, but there are good people that play both sides.

You make it the game what it is yourself, just like Real Life. Only reason I posted to this thread is because I feel it was not necessary to perpetuate something that is not that important in the first place.

What's wrong with that?

Most times there is no point in posting on these forums unless you enjoy mindless juvenile trash talk..........

OP....check the profiles of the responders telling you 'nothing has changed'...teen gurus of today's 'next generatin of leaders'.

OP, you need to realize their perspective is far removed from yours. This is a generation where the adage "actions speak louder than words" has been rephrased  for their convinience where "Words" are more important than actions!

This is one of the sadest things about the not ready to vote age group of today's society. You are better off to just up and pop someone than call them an SOB because they will find a way to sue you or accuse you of being wrong to cover their own shallow images.

This is the ME generation and they somehow have gotten the idea that anything and everything is fair game. And think it's funny...

The best part is, for those of us that have actually 'been ther done that', KNOW they have a RUDE, and deserved. awakening if they ever move into the the real world of personal responsibility.

OP, let it go. You cannot change it, only they can.

LMAO...EVERYONE has a day of reckoning...sooner or later.

Another TEEN guru that has no civil respect...but hey you are so wonderful within your own ignorance it doesn't matter...to you and the punks like you.

Hint: There is no Silver Freekin Plater lmao

Edit: we now have the east and west borders covered by your kind, must be comforting to know you are not alone within your ignorant world.

Have to agree with you on that point....

However, do you know that displaying the United States of America Stars and Stripes UPSIDE DOWN is unpatriotic and highly frowned on to say the least.

People have been shot for less stupid antics

hmm, is there a way to give my friend a key to my house but only let him watch TV or play the sterio and of course use the bathroom but he can't use the kitchen especially the frig or anyof the 'goodoes' I have stashed for my sweet tooth.

to play with your metaphor a little bit, just because you lock your house doesn't mean you shouldn't lock your extra-valuables in a wall safe.  That way, when your friend needs to go in your house for a minute without you, even if they betray you and steal your things, at least the diamond necklace was stored in a place they couldn't get it.  The two layers of protection ensure that even if something goes wrong, it isn't a total disaster.

As I indicated before, do as you choose, but you have just confirmed my point. If you allow others to 'share' your account, realistcally there is no reason to get upset 'if' someone hacks your account or youget banned from the game.

I play many MMOs and have a stash of trial Keys to several, this is what I give to my 'friends' if they want to play...saves me any negative outcomes with those I prefer to remain 'friends' with.

No, it's not practical to try and 'bend' the tules to accomodate otheres and yet keep the most precious things secure.

And why should it be? In the examples here you are only inviting corruption........

With MMOs having 100s of thousans of accounts to maintain and monitor. Do you really find it that difficult to understand why there are certain 'rules' in place?

Go on vacation and leave your house unlocked and tell several people....

My 2cents...do what you choose but don't be soar when something goes wrong.

the graphics are good, but the gameplay is not.  I mean why would anyone want to have to run all the way to a monster manually instead of being able to just click and relax.

anyone agree?

click and relax....WoW has it's version, Num Lock!

Weak example...No I don't agree...

If you aren't enjoying yourself try something else no need to bash it.

Elaborate a bit for them maybe?

I'll elaborate. Tweaking means editing the .ini file to quickly change some settings which Sigil couldn't put in the Options menu due to limited, five-years long development time.

I wouldn't consider that "tweaking" but I would call it 'hacking" your own PC naught....I know my response is a bit late but hey now I know my definition of "tweaking" is not that same as others

Turbine would be the entity to answer that question.  Anyone outside Turbine would only be speculing even if they encountered the same thing...go to the source.

Regarding your account creation issues....not sure why you would solicite a stranger to make an account for you when you can contact that games Support link which is more than likely on their Website.

On your desciption of areanas and a world to explore with NPC to fight,,,the options are numerous ranging from this sites hate for WoW areana play to CoH to AO to name 3 with established areana combat AND the NPC roaming throughout the landsacape in each, each having it's own somewhat personality.

Read trhu some of the specific game forums on this site to get a better description from experienced players of each.
