My question is, should a "game" make you feel like this? also travelling, I linked up with some people and warped to a mining place, I thought it would be like, hit warp and you are there, ooooh no, took like an hour to get there, made dinner and stuff while it was in warp, that to me is a massive flaw. it does not feel like you are actually playing the game most of the time.

Can see the attraction but definitly not for everyone.

My experience has been the same. I have posted on EVE with similar response. Have played the Free Trial 3 times. The Tutorial is involving but once out on your own the description above is accurate for me . I have only played this game solo. I have attempted to get into a group situation. I see others in chat. I attempt to converse with them but have never gotten even ONE response. I can't say that playing with a group would make the experience better as a result. After 3 attempts over a 6 month period it got old. With that, I agree with Nashbonn's last sentence..."

it does not feel like you are actually playing the game most of the time".

So you choose the Easy Way Out....Why do you play the game? You don't play to gain through your own initiative? You prefer to get to the "Top" the easy way?  Do you have any faith in your own accomplishments? Do you apply the same tactics to your RL adventure to the "Top"? Seems your perspective is a bit out of whack....

Community is what YOU make it....

There will always be 'bad' communities in any MMO.

If YOU let that decide your experience, YOU are at fault.

Play the Game more and stop paying so much attention to General chat.

Agree...PSU at 250W is well below anything that will improve much.

On the other hand, trial and error as described above is at least worth a shot...

GL and start saving up more $$ even if it's only $10 a week,  make a few sacrifices.

Post the results of DXDIAG, (DirectX diagnostics), so you can post your PC stats....your PC info will be on the first page after executing it.

If you don't know about DXDIAG, Google it for your own benefit. Most if not all MMOs list the system requirements to play their game.

From experience I can tell you the issues may not have anything to do with your PC components.

Without getting into extreme amounts of explanation and detail...

Call your ISP and get a Tech to come out and test your Download/Upload speeds. Also get the Tech to look at 'their' Terminal and the cable into your house.

Your Post title is misleading....WoW players, Fanboys or NOT, are not necessarily WAR bashers.

I'm sick of people like you that blame others wrongly, generically lumping people into a self defined category.

As mentioned above you need a 64bit OS, Vista if you want DX10 ( minimum Home Premium).   You could also fit faster memory with that motherboard.  As also mentioned above I would shop around a bit for lower prices.  As it stands that system would run AoC on medium settings fine I should think.

Ive never had any trouble running DX10. Ive got Windows Vista Ultimate x86 version.

Lotro highest on everything, DX10 mode. Fury DX10 without problems, so 64bit OS is not needed.

The rig looks nice. Go for it!

Tiderman makes a good point.

DX10 is still an option not a requirement. Same for 4G of ram .

64bit OS is still not perfected at this time and is also not needed for any MMO at this time.

DDR3 is also being improved and a bit spendy compared to DDR2 which will more than handle the need.

Produde, please return to your bridge and grow a pair. The post you are criticizing has no evident contradiction, so your comments are not needed. If you don't like an idea then present a better alternative, you inconsiderate prick.

As for the OP, I'd like to see a response to this boorish bashing. It's even written in red, probably because he wanted to mix the text with his own blood; that's how much he hates you and any thinking individual in this forum.

Buffs timer should freeze as long as you are grouped...

No timer should ever be above the 15-20 minutes...

Maybe your definition of contradiction is different...or maybe you don't really know what is it for that matter.

Where did I state it wasn't a good idea?

You seem to enjpy 'telling people" what to do...

Have a nice day, I always do.

Your response will be entertaining as your first response.

After playing MMOs for years, I come to the following conclusion:

- Buffs timer should freeze as long as you are grouped with the buffer, no need to rebuff ever as long as not dispelled and still in group (could add a distance component).

Then everyone would want to group ALL theme...

- No timer should ever be above the 15-20 minutes range.  A group didn't take a buffer, they don't deserve to get the buffs permanently.  However, a buff could degrade to a lower buff for another 15 minutes after it duration, and so on.  So if you cast Haste III, at the end of duration, it become haste II...and later it will become haste I...unless it is overwriten.  The degrade must be significantly weaker, if you have a "haste cap", the degrade must never bring a normal class near the cap (there could be 1 or 2 exception)

You just contradicted yourself

- Hybrids should have potent buffs (as good as main buffers), but a strict and harsh limit preventing them to buff too many peoples.  See, having a buff which is half what a strong buff is...that is not really cool.  Been able to only buff yourself + 1 player, but having the same good buff (maybe we a few minor difference, but nothing major, I understand the pure buffer might still get a tiny extra), now that is great.  See, with 2 hybrids characters, you have most of the group covered and maybe a few don't need the buff badly...it isn't a pure buffer, but is is NICE.  They are also extremely interesting in smaller groups.

There are reasons and logic for the differences, this should be apparent to you

- An hybrid buffer who get buffed by a pure buffer should get a very nice bonus to compensate the fact all his hybrid part is useless, so the hybrid is almost as good as a pure DPS/TANK/HEALER (whatever his other half) while he is buffed by the pure buffer.  This has to be considered carefully as you don't want to make it better or as good as the guy who specialised in DPS or TANKING for example, but you want to make him close enought so he doesn't feels miserable to see half of his abilities go to waste cause he founds a pure buffer.

Do have any idea how to code? Even frm a basic level...

- A pure buffer buffed by another pure buffer should also get an DPS bonus, so it is worthwhile to group 2 buffers.  So the pure buffer become almost as good as an hybrid DPS while he is buffed by another pure buffer (they both will buff each other).  Would need carefull thinking, but eh, we don't want a buffer to log off feeling useless anyday...cause this will lead to a shortage of buffers.  We wouldn't want either to make them as good DPS as someone which devoted half his character to DPS either, just close to such a character.

 Class balance..Or NOT....

I play buffers...and I never play any "hybrid buffers", cause having a weaker version of something isn't cool in my book.  Rebuffing constantly isn't fun, nor a gameplay, nor interesting, it is tedious (I can bear it, but...you would rather have me focus on something else).  Having weaker buffs isn't appealing at all for me.  With these modifications in any MMO, I would definitely consider the hybrid...and still love the idea to be a pure buffer.

Your intent is now fully explained...you cintradict yourself though out the entire post.

These 'suggestions' are unlikely to become reality in any MMO. Step back and re-read yourpost.

Hasn't been mentioned, but fixer and trader are 2 of the hardest to play. Lower levels will be extermely frustrating at times for both. The character creation indicates the difficulty to new players for a reason.

You may want to start with a less complicated toon to get the jist of the game.

But, you have indicated you already have a Fixer so god luck because it will be a challenging experience to say the least.

You will probably end up making characters of all the Professions and may find one more compatible with your style of game play. Considering you don't get frustrated with the Fixer and leave the game. AO is not your typical MMO and many people rush into it only to leave because of the learning curve.

Good luck and try a few professions it is a great game with much demand to become GOOD in any profession. the content is massive.

You surely have a Support contact number you can call.

Pretty standard for any new computer or any electronic component for that matter.

if a support number was not provided you probably got screwed.....

2) Pick the wrong Class and you will be discriminated against
3) Pick a poweerful Class and you will get nerfed
4) I have no rights within the games I play. The developer can comes down from heaven and nerf me without warning
5) Many game devs blow at math.
6) People love simplicity and being told what to do. Hence quests, levels, and classes will forever be staple
7) mmorpg players are the least skilled players in ALL the genres no question
8) I have never felt greed like I have felt in MMOs. Now pass the Loot
9) MMORPG players are generally selfish. They love grind and worked hard (in a game mind you). so everyone else should work hard too

Of course the game doesn’t make sense.  The only decision you have to make about it is whether to play or not.

Did you miss that one? If you don't like it move on....so negative...you definietly need to stay away from MMO's...

It also says "may experience" this or that throughout ....

SYMPTOMS

loadTOCNode(1, 'symptoms'); When you try to run a game on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer that is using a dual-core processor, game performance may be poor. For example, you may experience any one of the following symptoms:

The game stops responding during game play.
The game stops responding during the rendering process.
Game performance is slow.

Maybe it's not anything to be concerned with unless You experience issues mentioned.
