To clarify:

Soloers want to have gear equal to raiders.

Raiders want to have gear superior to soloers.

Can you see why this upsets soloers?     They are asking for equality, not superiority.

I am not asking for a free lunch, or easy content.    I'm perfectly happy with it taking longer for me to get the gear compared to a raid, I just want it to be possible.

Sorry I meant to respond to this in the first post but got busy at work.

You aren't asking for equality. You are asking for equal rewards for different effort or accomplishments.

You make your stance very clear ,,, If you don't Party Raid you don't get Party Gear.

What Solo players are asking for is to be able to obtain the Same Raid Gear but with a much longer gruelling/consuming  time to get that Gear.

If they have to work 10x or 30x or whatever to get that Gear that isn't aquired EQUALY comparded to Raid Group and NOT in the same location.

And yes this has been stated in many posts and party  players in general are not receptive to solo players.

Question IS, what's the BIG deal? Party Players and Solo Players don't play together for the most part other than possible Guild instances.

"Equal Rewards" are not Equal if Solo players have to spend 20x, 30x or  100x more to get that gear....

Besides, who cares that much? It's a freeking GAME!!!

"Everyone take a deep breath. It's going to be OK.

We have lots of people in our studio that enjoyed playing monks in Guild Wars and healers in other games. We examined what it was about the healer archetypes that people really enjoyed, and we took a look at what it was about those archetypes that made the game less enjoyable. Then we created professions to appeal to those types of players.

Support players want to be able to say, "Remember that one time when I saved you from certain death?" They want to stand in the line of fire and block attacks. They want to surround their allies with a swirling dome of air that keeps enemy projectiles from passing through it. It's not about clicking on a health bar and watching it go up, it's about being there for your friends when they need you."

Straight from Anet, there will be support professions, they haven't forgotten about people who like to play support classes. The only thing they are doing different is they don't want people waiting around looking for a healers, so they basically made it possible for ever profession in the game to fill a support role. Even the really Core classes that you think would fill dps roles will be able to be built for full time support. there are also rumors that one of the new profesions will be a support focused profession according to one dev. Anet also didn't want anyone standing in the back all the time casting heals they want support to be more proactive and less reactive, we will only find out if that is true when the game is released.

You never want to compare yourself to powerlevelers.  These power gamers will powerlevel, it's what they enjoy doing, and they do this in all the games on the market.  Yes you can reach max level in a week in WoW, it's no secret how you can level in these games since both of these games have been out for many years.  But why worry about the handful of people or cliques of people that want to powerlevel?  They aren't the people that will group with you, they aren't the people you would associate with in the first place.

Also remember in EQ, leveling isn't the only progression, there's AA's....tons of it.  So while you can level to max quickly, you still got thousands of AA points you gotta get.  A lvl 85 in EQ with 0 AA points is a fairly useless character.  Ideally most people stop in the mid-50's to get some AA's, then stop again in the 60's to get useful AA's, and again in the early 70's.

Best suggestion I can give you is to ignore the power gamers.  They are not in the majority, but thety do what they do, because they enjoy it.  Leave them to enjoy the game they play.  I can bet many of those higher levels are either 1) raiders that just want to endgame raid, or 2) farmers that want to get high levels to farm gold/items to sell.  So they aren't people <<<(you can pretty much stop here in that case <<< you will be grouping with anyway, so it shouldn't matter to you how fast other people are leveling.

Buck up and take it to a Computer shop.

Most shops will diagnose it for nothing or a small fee $10-$25 and  give you options to repair.

OP thanks for posting your perspective.

Don't bother to be concerned or "Dissapointed" with MY perspective.

We all have defferent likes and dislikes with MMOs not to mention daily life decisions in general.

Personnally,  "Clone" doesn't factor into making my decision to play Game x, y or z....

Posts like this are looking for responses in order to support their own bias.

I have been antiWoW for a reeeaaally long time. I hate it for how it has ruined people's lives through addiction, and for it's massive success which has stagnated the medium with copycats. But I just got a trial because I was hurtin' for (to me) a new MMO. And I like it. It's not terribly complex which irks me, and the quests are all fairly cookie cutter, but I love the world and how full it is and how simply entertaining the game is. Did I mention how much I love the world? So now I still hate it with a passion, yet I'm enjoying myself enough to think of subbing. I guess my biggest fear is the ridicule that comes along with being a WoW player from people, well, like me. So I have turned to the internet for guidance. Anyone have any insight or wisdom?

Different strokes for different folks!

I see your point.  I personally hate the F2P and stores becuase they engineer it to make it required.   Perhaps a different subscription model would be better something like $8.99 for less then 40 hours a month and $14.99 for 40 or more hours per month.

Could you verify that?

I play a couple F2P and am NOT REQUIRED to use Item Mall unless I choose to.

My charactors do just fine without it.

There are potions and other things that can enhance Skills but only in PVE, not in PvP....

name the games please

Atlantica for one - playing for about 1 year now.

Only purchase was $20 -  4 Forever Merc slots.

Make your response please :)

Rofl no you aren't or if you are your equip suxs and so does your character and are you even max level yet, how much time did you waste walking , are you ina  guild, do you pvp.

Playing alantica free is only done via bots  once you hit 70-80+.

I don't play any "game" to persue "max level" as an objective  so No not maxed, I'll get there when i get there......

Level 97 with +3-4 Conq. PvP is another option , do it only to get into the next level dungeons.

Your perspective of  "gaming" is obviousely different than mine. That's why you think the way you do and not how I do Rolf.

You can't relate to someone playing different than what you think is the "only way" to enjoy MMO's or anything for that matter.

Go back to your hole and STFU....

A usual wow sub costs £7.99 a month, multiplied by 10 million people paying around that a month = £79.000 000 monthly, or 120 000 000 dollars... multiplied by 12 months for a year... 1.440.000 000....

Yeah you read right....1.4 billion dollars.....a year....

And that is on SUBSCRIPTIONS ALONE!!!!!!! I am not counting Box Sales, or their item shop....

And the corporate swine at  Blizzard, cant hire a forum moderation team like some F2P MMMO's to clean up the forums???

Or Community managers for their servers like some F2P MMO's???

But I guess a single post on a forum for MMO fans wont really make any ripples, or those that are sheepishly paying Activision \ Blizzard ask if they are getting their moneys worth....and make some noise so they accept their role in helping make wow a better experience for all, in game and outside it....

I mean, I dunno, for 1.4 Billlion, i'd expect more from a computer game and it's role in the community it's created...Wouldnt you??

Sub date 9/29/10, 2 posts both WoW....send WoW a note if it bothers you that much.

Nothing better than paying for quests.

You could try out Eve-Online, AoC, heck just click on the 'Game List' tab and find a game you'll like.

Great idea!

But i would argue that the males are already "sexified" just as much as the females when they are completely covered in armor. How many males look like budy builders and are able to do the stuff they generally are able to do in games completely covered with probably half a ton of steel? Not to mention the weapons.

Just because they aren't showing skin doesn't mean they aren't "sexified".

Ok.  I'll  be the paranoid one today.. I find this post suspect considering the account was just made today.

Paranoid of what? Suspect of what?

This site is infamous for negative and hate posts.....

Your post is the  "suspect".

It's the ACT of ACCOMPLISHING that matters here. Not the end result.

It's the process that counts.

All you see is the piece of loot at the end.

Wrong. Again.

I'm not looking at the loot. I don't care about loot in these games anymore, and haven't in years.

I'm looking at the process. For me, the process and accomplishment are in having fun and enjoying myself. I don't need to spend as much time in these games as I used to in EQ1. I don't define myself or my self-worth as a gamer based on achievements or pixelated loot that I've earned or monsters I've fought. I just play to enjoy myself and have fun. That in itself is an accomplishment, since I'm not looking for anything more out of a game than just to relax and unwind, and to spend time in a game world I find interesting.

If someone else's idea of fun involves buying items in a cash shop to make their time spent easier, then more power to them, IMO. It's their money and their business, and doesn't hurt my enjoyment of a game one whit. I choose to live and let live. Besides, the market is moving in that direction anyway. No sense in blowing a gasket over it, since it's inevitable. I'd rather just have fun while a game is fun.

Very well put Lidane...

The "scare tactices" being posted lately is way out of line. What's the purpose of making such a fuss about "Change"?

Change is inevidable, accept it!

If Item Malls are not your thing, move on and find something else. If you can't find something else, do something else.

Stop trying to get people riled up for YOUR sake.....

It a Game, Shut up and Have Fun!
