So far it seems that about 90% of people that have played this will be getting the US/EU release. I was expecting that turnover imho after seeing some of the early korean beta gameplay. For the rest, it sounds like most of you are just tired of mmorpgs as they are today. Modern mmorpgs seem to just use the tried and true formula that seems to work. I know that I miss the days of EQ where it more or less required for you to grp to level past 10, some cases earlier then that. Games just arent going that route anymore because lets face it..gamers now are of all ages and I know I dont have the 10 hour days I can put into grinding with a group anymore. I hope the localization process goes smoothley and not too much gets changed in the game. One of the biggest benefits I have to say is the late release to the US/EU. I cant say how happy I am that when I finish installing/downloading Aion. I will be able to enjoy the game without many bugs (if any) or class balancing issues. P.S. I decided on an Elyos Sorcerer as my main, something about killing mobs being difficult while you level seems like I will enjoy it more. |

How to get half a million players (who quit) back to Age of Conan?

Also a key feature I was looking forward to was not in game "Spell Weaving". In my honest opinion the only way I would play this game again, is if Funcom offered returning veterens a full and I mean FULL free month of gameplay. With our old characters and no wipe afterword. At this point a free trial isnt enough time especially for the casual players to really get a taste of the changes. So if Funcom gives me a free month of AOC (as long as you have already purchased the game in the past) then I would come back and play it. Ofcourse if I liked it id re-sub after the free month...if not...at least I would have seen where the game is going. P.S. 10 day free trials are epic fails because they usually never give people enough time to get a real feel for the game...besides I dont care about an apology at this point...since they wont give us our money back..ill take a free month instead. |

Your 100% right that questing eventually becomes boring. Then again you can say that about every MMORPG out there, and eve is no exception (as far as its missions are concerned). I am glad that you posted your thoughts because eve players I have come to find have certain expectations of games, so the fact that you are enjoying it to some extent is good news to me. I was considering a close combat dps class like the glad, but I am a long range playstyle at heart. |

Hello Everyone,
As some of you may know I have been following Aion very closely and impatiently might I add. Now I had the opportunity to play the Korean and the chinese beta's but I purposely did not (didnt want to ruin the surprise). I have a very simple question that perhaps requires a complicated answer for some. For everyone that played/tried Aion over the last few months, and to those still playing the Korean/Chinese release. Were you surprised with how good or bad the game was and why? Is this a game you can see yourself playing several years down the road? Most importantly, Id like to thank everyone that has been posting their reviews (both good and bad) and their experiances with this game. I think its great that alot of people are taking the time to help others that are anxiously waiting for this. So id like to thank everyone that has been supporting the Aion Forums with all your videos, pictures and stories on the gameplay. I realize that alot of people like to read these forums for information so its nice to have those individuals that take time out of their day to help out. Also, I will probably be picking this up on release day because by that time I would have pulled out all my hair waiting in anticipation. I plan on making an Elyos so if there are any guildleaders that are going to be looking, im currently between a Sorc,Ranger,SpiritMaster.

Would you purchase DarkFall without an Open Beta/Free Trial?
General Discussion « Darkfall 4/16/09 2:14:04 PM
I honestly was curious how Darkfall would play out. I think its an interesting type of an MMORPG but given its gameplay im having trouble wanting to pay 15 a month for this game. If this game was free id prob play it alot. But for a fee? I dont think its my cup of tea. Even with a beta/free trial I dont think I would pay for it. All I see so far is more bad posts then good regarding the games health from this site and others. Now if Darkfall was done a little differently I may have considered it. But most of the pvp gameplay looks like you spend most of your time running around in circles pressing 1-2-3 buttons max, and the pve is basically standing still pressing slash. Now this is my opinion based on a multitude of youtube videos and other links from various sites. I wish everyone that is enjoying the game a blast, Im glad the pvp realm of mmorpgs have something in regards to full loot. |

Hey Everyone,
I been retired from wow temporarily for a few months now (im on the patch) and im curious how the game is going now with the recent 3.1 patch. Its game changing having dual builds but more importantly alot of talent changes to specific classes, most noticibly the Warlock seems to have been re-designed. Can any of you share some light on how this patch has changed wow in regards to end game instancing and pvp?
-thanks in advance. |

I kinda figgured there werent free trials once i spent a little more time searching >_<. I have tried to do the ff trial but the last time i applied for it the code i was given from the csr was not working on play online. I could not even get int the game, and that was a few months ago. I got irritated that I was sent an incorrect trial code for the game and uninstalled it. I honestly think ill just be between DOTA/BF 2142 and Demigod untill Aion comes out. I just wish it gets to the states sooner rather then later im starting to bite my nails in anticipation. |

But now that disney owns the IP they can make a movie and or a video game if they so desire. I am hoping they make a movie simmilar to LOTR only better. and am also hoping for an MMORPG at some point. I think the story for the game world would be great. But seems so far most people here dont seem to think so. |

Hey Everyone,
I have to say that SOT (Sword of Truth) series that follows richard and Kahlan Rahl is my favorite of all time. I was thinking a few months ago wouldnt it be cool if they came out with a MMORPG based on the books? I mean you could do really anything with the IP, have it pve focused or even pvpve. For example the Old world vs the New world. The reason I was thinking about this recently was because they had the tv series (which does not follow the books at all) which is okay but not exactly super. I was wondering what you all thought about that. Also if it was to be an MMORPG how do you envision it would be setup and which company should do it? What do you guys and gals think of its potential?
Here is the website that shows his work in case you dont know about the books: www.terrygoodkind.com/his_works/ P.S. it would be great if you guys/gals could post why you voted the way you did, thanks! |

Hello Everyone,
I am impatiently waiting for Aion to hit NA/EU so I can finally immerse myself into another MMORPG completely without jumping around. So far I have been between WoW/WAR/LOTRO and none of them can really hold me so I just play 1 month and switch to the other. Point is I want to try out Lineage 2 since it seems simmilar to Aion at least in the art direction and some of its general concepts. Does anyone know if there is a free trial to try out Lineage two, or do we need to just get it and sub? If there is no trial, can anyone tell me how the state of the game is currently?
-Thanks to all responders. |

Suggestions for classes to play for a new player?

I usually get scared when someone asks me to try a healer because my experiance with them is very low dps and really great healing. Dont want to take forever to get to the meat of the MMO. Im not saying skip everything wowstyle and get to end game..but I want to get there semi-fast with a grp class. -Thanks |

Suggestions for classes to play for a new player?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 3/20/09 3:43:08 PM
Hello Everyone,
I just recently picked up Mines of Moria, and the game so far is fun, however im not used to the class build of LOTRO, i got a Captain and a Lore master to level 5, they are both fun. I enjoy both but i really have no idea about the basic classes or the new classes with the expansion. Can anyone list the classes and their benefits, or perhaps suggest one over the others? I like to group alot. I like being a jack of all trades class that can kinda fill any role if the needs comes up for it. I think a Captain is my calling. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. |

Ah I see, well I liked the characters and design of Final Fantasy, but I wish it was a little easier to get up in level. One of my primary concerns with FF was the smaller population vs the need to find a group for a new character 1 - cap. Its unfortunate because I loved the job classes that were made available...I wish more MMO's incorporated Dragoons,Samurais...Ninjas etc. If I do go with LOTRO do any of you have a suggestion as far as what class can solo well to level and is a godsend to groups? -thanks |

Figguring that Aion does have a pvp aspect to it, You should be able to make a different race on different servers. However I dont think you will be able to make a different race on the same server your on.
Example: If your on server A and have chosen to play Elyos or Eylos ( I forget how its spelled) then you wont be able to make an Asmodonian. But if you go to server B you should be able to. I dont think they will limit you to one race per account, that would make alot of people very unhappy. thats my 2 cents |

Hello everyone, First allow me to give some background information: I am a EQ vet, I have played wow almost since launch and a ton of f2p mmorpgs. I loved how EQ used to be, however I have slowly moved away from that type of hardcore game. I am married, work full time and attend college full time. I just quit my wow sub about a month ago, because of the constant gear grind requirement. I tried WAR again for the 10 day trial...and the game just could not pull me in. Things I like about MMO's: - Love the ability to solo or group - I love interesting and deep class options - The ability to pvp is a plus now and then - I am a big fan of PVE content - Detailed skills - Good end game (PVE orientated with a little pvp) - Character Advancement beyond simple gear upgrades Things I dont like in MMO's: - Bugs/hacks - immature community - Lack of depth - games without ebb and flow - no control over camera angles (force click to move major minus) - pvp gankfests - hard to find groups when you need/want one - Im not a fan of hardcore games anymore (with the exception that if its really good id be willing to try it) There are a few things I didnt add but for the most part those are my core likes and dislikes. I have tried both games in the past. Final Fantasy was fun because i love the lore, however it locked up my camera and it was very hard to solo past level 12 for me. This could have been due to my rushing the game. Best part of this game so far is the Job selections. I played LOTRO in its open beta, and enjoyed the game. I was not a big fan of the way they had the lower level areas plotted. I only got to level 8 before I quit. Other than that I dont have any major gripes with the game, seems like its fun. I am basically looking for a game to put my time into until Aion is released, so for the next 6 months or so I will be on one of these two MMO's and if I end up liking them I may play either one with Aion as well. Please list your pros and cons for each game, or your opinion of each with what you feel would be a better choice for me. -Thank you all in advance! P.S. No trolls please. |

Aion- Tower of Eternity (I am looking forward to this one impatiently), Starwars KOTOR and the other one is Blade and Soul. As far as the new blizz MMO, Im curious to see what it is, but in all honesty...if they do what they did with WoW i see it failing and bringing people to utter boredom. (the gear grind) Im not saying wow is a bad game...but lets face it...the only think you do in WoW is get gear, that is the end game and nothing else. Aside from that...I dont really see anything else coming close. From those three id say Aion is going to be great. KOTOR has alot to prove, and if they can get it done right it may succeed. As far as Blade and Soul...do yourselves a favor and go to youtube search it and watch the gameplay footage. |

I wish the SM looked more Samurai ish to be honest. Someone needs to make an MMO that has Ninjas and Samurais as a class, except for Final Fantasy. I mean no offense...but that MMO was a failure for me, I had such high hopes for it. Well Im going to try the SM as my main class and see how he works out. Thanks for the responses! |

Just curious, was considering making a ORDER tank, since that seems to be the least played class on order. currently if im not mistaken the only choices are the following: Knights of the Blazing Sun (KOTBS) Iron Breaker (IB) Sword Master (SM) Out of these why is the least class I ever see played the SM? I mean the class seems interesting, but usually as far as tanks go i see a ton of KOTBS and IB but only very rarely do i see a SM. I was considering making a tank and I was gonna make a SM are there any pros or cons to picking that particular class in reference to DPS and to Tanking? pvp and pve? Thanks in advance. |
