Not to be a jerk here.  But your reply has nothing to do with whether or not hes a fanboi, and whether or not its played out, or even the fact that he may be right and you have posted nothing to the contrary.  My point is...its a valid arguement and unless youve been around MMO launches.  It is a smooth launch...on the box however it does say Online Experiance may vary..so get it through your skull that everyone is speaking on behalf of their particular experiance.  Now enjoy your post, and enjoy me reporting it.

Grind is only used if you don't have fun.

I play constantly the BG's for fun. Weeks and months. Never bored. Once a week I raid. If I had to raid every day that would be grind for me. so I don't do it more than once. Arena is for the weekend with friends.

My brother is a champ in arena. He plays a few hours each week and manages to get those titles and gear in no time. Is that grind? No he has fun.

BTW The die hard pvp players in Wow are NOT interested in WAR PvP. Logical I think. They want control over the situation - real control freaks with extreme fast reactions and overview. I showed it to them and after hearing their comments I knew WAR wasn't going anywhere.

I have to say the biggest WoW turn off was actually the pvp.  I didnt like how it was implemented.  i think the thought of BG's and Arenas were very cool, and I enjoyed playing them for a while.  But after a while players started to just Macro abilities and spells to get the edge off of any pvp situation. I have played WAR pvp...and i have to say my experiance, is that its very strategy based and its not so easy as to just run up to 4 people like a Warlock and kite them all at the same time.  I think WoW is a great game, but my opinion of PVP and the way WoW implemented it are completely different.  Im glad you enjoy the WoW pvp, the way it is now..I cant.

Yeah, but that's the beauty of Wow: you play it the way you want. Choices, choices.

My concern is that you always need to motivate people.

Arena personal ratings (and the ladder system in general) doesn't encourage people to play, because they hate the loss. People that keep losing yell at WAR forums "arena sucks" (instead of course" I suck in arena").

My question is: PvP is not really encouraging when people seem to be losing a lot. As in WAR: everyone wants to win so enroll Chaos. So Order players moan... and quit the game.

Different games, but same problems (for the publisher that is ) because he wants the subs.

Okay, to be fair I wont flame you for your post.  However I will mention as a first impression its usually better to make it passed level 6, especially since the classes really start to bloom 11+.  I think people are upset at your post becuase your giving a very very early first impression, without really playing much or traveling past the Greenskin Area.  And that part with the cannons or siege weaponry quests i thought were alot of fun myself.

I have a character on Order currently, what server are you guys going to and is it Core, Open RVR, or RP?  And do you guys allow Weekend Warrior type playstyles for those of us who work full time and are married

You almost feel twice as powerful each level. I posted someplace else that when you start this game, you feel pretty wimpy, but after 4-5, you start feeling more powerful, and each level after that just adds to that power. Once you start RvR and speccing renown points, you can add to that power. At 11, you start getting mastery points which adds to it even more.

If people only play the first 4-5 levels and then drop the game, they're missing out on what the game is really all about. Fair reviews on if the game is actually fun will only come when people hit the higher levels, as the character development is far more complex than other games.

9.  Read the threads on this site and be amazed at the haters and fanbois and realize I am a fanboi. I've seen at least two people who seldom (if ever) would post a very detailed explanation of why they like a game, post why they liked this game. That speaks volumes, because I had the same compulsion.

8. Call Gamestop and see if they will sell me Sid Meir's Colonization early. It comes out this week.

(Okay, I already did this, twice..it's not in)

7.  Vanguard sent me a "Try Issue Six for free" thing. I could download the client and see. If it wasn't for Warhammer I think I could be tempted, but come on?  Really? Bright Wizards, Magus on floating disks? FLOATING DISKS? Vanguard you'd have to really impress the hell out of me.

6. I could check whats going on in WoW, I still have the subscription for now. Can't see playing that one either though. Warhammer gives me the PVP in a strategic way that I've always wanted. Skill and tactics, not twinking and exploits.

Fun, even in defeat.  Yes, we got wiped out in the Khaine scenario, but darnit, we put up a good effort!

5. I could try Spore again. I only waited like three years since I heard about this to come out for this game and when I got it, I played for about 20+ hours all the way to space and then some. Now that I made it to Space, I don't know why I am not compelled to boldly go where no one else has gone before or whatever.

Maybe because it is insanely difficult as it is happening in real time, and I am the only with a space ship in my massive empire which makes no frigging sense.

4. I could excercise, walk away from the computer.

(scratch that one)

3. HEROES is on tonight! in 15 minutes!

(Although I Am DVRing it)

2.  Finally read the guide for Warhammer I bought for the unique "item" that I didn't actually use.

And the #1 thing to do, while waiting for the servers to go up and the onslaught of people who will inevitably get on before me because unlike me, they are checking War Herald for updates and probably anxiously awaiting their Warhammer Fix.

1.  Make elaborate lists of things to do and number them, so that some one can mock it derisively.

Magus/Engineer is not a bad class.  They are Support units and are very usefull in defending positions. They arent meant for massive dps, in that case you want a Bright Wizard or a Sorcerer.  Every class in Warhammer was made specifically to be strategically usefull in PVP and in groups....if you think your class sucks then you are either a) playing them wrong, or b) its not the class for you.

Ofcourse, the standard response for any mature gamer out there. And now the flames to follow. Good Luck.

P.S. For someone that doesnt play WAR at all, I guess my rank 11 Bright Wizard doesnt do over 20,000 damage in almost every scenario hes been in.

For a recently launched game, it is surprisingly stable and is not requireing alot of fixes.  That in itself is amazing. Let them fix the game please, and lets all try to stay away from posting over exagerations like...i dunno....the OP?

Id have to say i agree with the OP, but also I found my playstyle on MMO is PVPVE, so Warhammer is right up my area.  it allows me to do pvp and pve at the same time.  This is the first game in a long time that actually makes you want to group to fight off Destructions or Order (whichever side your on)

P.S. I am really looking forward to the massive Capital City Sieges

I am really looking forward to the siege warfare and the tactics that will be required for Higher Tier Raids on keeps.  I find it refreshing to se siege engines at almost every Tier camp incase of invasion.  Even at end game the war will never end.  I havent had this much fun in an MMO since Everquest. I also enjoy the "i can join any group at will option".  I have been burned badly by trying to get groups in World of Warcraft, I enjoyed the game myself.  However I had huge problems when trying to join heroics or raids, everyone always required the best gear even for something easy.  So I am thankful to say that this game makes you feel that your all on the same side.

played WAR... wasnt impressed at all, WaR has just 1 thing WoW does not currenty "RVR" but WoW has so much more that WAR does not.....but thats my opinion.

In short WoW offers more then WAR.. WAR offers RvR and thats it.

I have seen you post about Warhammer in other threads, I honestly dont think you have played Warhammer enough to comment that RVR is all that WAR offers.

Well I am lvl 11 with my shadow warrior. the PvE is boring and I dont enjoy the PvP.  I dont see me playing this game for much longer but I aim to get to 20, but right now I have no desire to log into it.

I tried a Shadow Warrior myself, they were fun at a long range...in fact i think they have the longest range dps in the game.  Anyway I dont think we can truely appreciate a game at rank 11...and im not trying to argue with you or anything.  Its just that for example like WoW the game really doesnt open up untill 60, perhaps WAR may be the same way.  Where it becomes interesting the more you level?  Who knows. I am curious to see though How Blizzard is going to fix WoW, because IMHO wow right now is a grind for gear and thats it.  I would love to see Blizzard release the expansion and give players a better reason to play the game.

This is a thread about Warhammer and World of Warcraft, it can be created in either forum.  If you guys/gals dont agree thats fine, but that is not why he posted the thread, he doesnt want to be lectured that this is the wrong forum..he is just making a statement about his enjoyment/surprise from being a Blizzard fan to going over to Mythic with Warhammers release. its kinda sad to see that so many posters are such fanbois that they cant just clap and say were happy for you without posting something that has nothing to do with the post.

WoW and War are both really good games. I hope everyone realizes that, but they are very different.  They are technically opposites.

WoW is a PVE focused game with a off spec of PVP for those who dont like too much PVE content.

WAR is a PVP focused game with a off spec ofm PVE for those who dont like too much PVP content.

They are both different types of playstyle, I hope people realize this and stop comparing the two, because they are different games.  WoW will always be good for those who really like their PVE content, and Warhammer will be there for those who prefer raids on Keeps on massive scales.  I, myself like PVE and PVP however I tilt more to PVP.  I also like the whole lets get a group going...and capture a keep...use siege engines to blow the walls, slaughter everyone inside, capture it and hang our guild banners showing who owns it.  But hey whats your game?

Warhammer is basically a MMORPG that takes the best elements from other games and puts it together with a pvp focus. is the PVE good? Yes. is it perfect? No.  Is it better then other MMO's? Depends what your comparing it to.  Is the pvp better then other MMOs? In my opinion, there is no comparison, WAR pvp is the best pvp experiance to date.  I will say that I enjoy this PVE alot more then WoW or any other game I have played to date, the quests are interesting (some are generic) however the public quests keep the game interesting, and the Open RVR quests make it alot of fun too.  In short, your experiance in beta, was just that.  I have heard since beta they have changed things...you might want to consider playing through to T4 before you make an overall decision on their overall PVE system with high end content.

Hey, im rank 11 right now but from the way ive noticed how Mythic has done their game.  Here is my explanation:

If you are in the High Elf vs Darkelf area T1 you will fight in Khains Embrace, likewise in the empire and chaos area you will fight in Gunds of Nordland, likewise in the Dwarf/Greenskin it will be Gates of Erklund.  Now if you go to T2 I imagine it will be built the same way.  If your in T2 in the different factions homelands you will go into Different Scenarios (BG's)  There is no battle master to join the BG, its actually a link next to your mini map, and from what I can tell so far the BG you que up for entirely depends on the area you are leveling in.  If you want to try out Different BG's go into the other races area for example if your a Dwarf, go to the humans area via a flight master and you can que up for Guns of Nordland.
