I can agree, I dont like horses in dungeons. But that will probably be changed.

Just see it ...

PS: Devs are not finish with it yet. It was patched in yesterday.

This was added yesterday ...

The thieving will be interesting to test. Sounds really cool.

Mortal Online here. No instances, no mini map, no handholding, torches, no zones but seamless loading, etc ...

OP, try Mortal Online. No hand holding there. A game for grown up people. But if you can't stand bugs and not all feats in yet, then wait buying the game until some weeks after release.

The FPV melee and mounted combat is imo really good.

The beta have started (pre order and you can play it today). But you should clearly wait until after release. Keep an eye on it.

i wouldnt suggest that at all...the game is a land scape with a slow mele fight atm, and thats all. and you think you can play it when you pre order that shit ? i suggest the person do some research before pre ordering

Melee slow? It's realistic and not just smashing a key as in other MMOs. It involves lots of tactic.  ... see this video how it can be ... 15 sec into the video it starts getting interesting:

Better double cross your fingers for Mortal. At the moment, the interface is absolutely horrible and needs a 2nd overhaul, and while their ideas are great, you can't even test half of the things because of how lacking the game is in its completion at the moment. This would be less of an issue if they weren't planning on releasing soon...

At the moment you're dropped into a town naked, aaaaand thats it. Took me a while just to figure out how to target and talk to NPCs (as apparently just clicking them is out of the question). Then money becomes an issue, as you are naked, and there doesn't seem to be anything around to punch to death to even get starter coin, and you can't harvest without tools. Clearly some people have figured it out as I saw one person come by on a horse once, but yeah, massively unfinished state and I don't know how they're going to get it up to snuff by when they want/need to release.

Well, you can expect the GUI to be improved more. They have a person on it now and it has been improved already a lot, the last 3 weeks and they will improve it more. So within 1 month it will be really good.

Preferably fantasy genre with 1st person perspective only or optional.

More real: No auto-targeting/auto attack. No floating char names or damage numbers (or can be turned off). No overly abundant zoning. Bot prevention with strict enforcement. NPCs that react to you according to likeness, faction, and personality (like Oblivion).

A quest tracker is helpful, but not one that guides you too easily like WoW.

A crafting and item system that is hugely detailed both visually and functionally. I'm also tired of the items that require you to be a certain level. How about something a little more involving like having a certain wisdom or strength et al.

I would like to see communities of players that build their own lair/village/town/city. To have an option to join a small gang, a medium village, or a large city. A community designed with objectives varied by those that create it.

A challenge to adventuring. If you're in the wild, you will be out of your element and exposed to the elements needing to stay alive. I'm tired of the "Go anywhere-do anything" as long as I'm holding the 'move forward' key type of games.

Finally maybe a leveling system with no level. Just improvments to base stats etc. Stats that improve depending on what you do with your character. So is there a game that matches some of my desires?

Then you should really check out Mortal Online. It's aimed at realism in a fantasy setting. It's in beta now.

Melee ... After 15 sec it starts getting really interesting.

Mining city ...

Key feats:

  • No instances
  • FPV-only
  • No minimap
  • seamless loading with no zones (large continent)
  • Player build houses, bridges, towns etc ...
  • You hit where you aim (hit boxes)
  • Skill based (no levels)
  • Advance and dynamic crafting
  • Epic mobs (only spawned once)
  • High mountains that you can climb if not to steep
  • Full loot and PvP
  • PvE
  • RL player skill matter
  • Large dungeons
  • Torches (dark at night and inside caves/dungeons)
  • etc ...

Nice review and I agree.

AoC is the worst crap ever created. Tiny zones and lots of instances in all areas. It felt like a Multi player game rather than a MMO.

I play MO and I have already fun and it's very promising. They takes steps in right direction alll time. Tomorrow another large patch comes and many new things added.

Im not sure what to play today, so was wondering if i buy mortal online now (i liked darkfall kinda) can i play today?

or should i head over to fallen earth as a game? seems nice also

Yeah, if you buy it now you can play it today. It's beta and have bugs but it´s really promising. Many people have fun in the beta today. Also tomorrow another larger patch comes. Then we might see, more skills, more content, thievery and off course improvements and bug fixes.

There are mobs in this game already. There are several mobs we not have seen in the game yet but have been seen in pre beta trailers ... as troll, rat humanoids, lizard humanoids, werewolf alike mob ... devs have talked about orcs.

Also read this dev block ... one week old.

www.mortalonline.com/blog/patch-night

the CEO Henrik Nystöm, we will soon see how they create a mob ... so don't worry.

I have played many many MMO betas. It's very often with large patches during betas.

The MMOs today is just to much about smashing keys as fast as possible. MO have done a much more realistic combat than any MMO have.

I really like the combat in MO and it's fun. It seams much slower than it is. In MO it's lots of real skill involved in combat.

Check these two videos ...

First is mounted combat with axe and archery:

www.youtube.com/watch

Second is when a blue player attack a red town and have to flee out from it. It don't goes that well first. Here you can really see how the FPV is in MO and you might understand why they done it that way. After a half min into the video you understand what I mean.

This combat video is really cool ...

Combat is actually really fun. Check for example mounted  combat in this video (axe and bow).

In the next patch they will probably add thievery and much more. ;)

Thanks! Wow thievery in next patch! I can't wait!

For info, the OP is one of the persons who got banned for breaking the NDA, like it has already been said. I can provide proof if the moderators here want to. So take everything he says in his anger against those who banned him with a HUGE grain of salt...

Just a friendly warning ;)

I already said, I gave my account away and it got banned. I had no interest in playing the game, it was total crap, and so I didn't care about my account or who used it. Somebody asked me, I changed my password to "password1" (they can look that up too, feel free to ask them) and he started playing it.

Have them dig up the IPs that played the game, and you'll find they don't match the forum account. Take a wild guess why.

It doesn't matter if you directly broke the NDA or helped other break it.
