Assuming you actually did sample it (which I highly doubt)  if it's going to come out without all of it's features than it might as well not come out at all...  or be free to play.

OK, I guess all EA, UBI, SoE, Blizzard, etc all hiring jr coders all the time in their job listings is just for show.

I'll gurantee you there's a big difference between what Blizzard recognizes as a JR programmer and what DF gets as a JR programmer.

Blizzard and EA are not going to hire just any run of the mill JR programmer to work on their games. They have to be very skilled JR programmers who they know will turn into professional programmers very soon.

Hell they might already be considered professional programmers by those companies but are just brought in at lower salaries , less work load etc and given the "JR" tag.

Let's see what they release for todays dev journal.

I'am betting

1. It doesn't happen

2. It's simply a Q&A witn no video's

This slows down the development cycle but greatly expands the work force for the game and lessens the money strains in paying for labor.

It also cripples your code when jack has to take over jills coding after she left..

If this is what they are doing -- it is a TERRIBLE way to be developing.... and you can forget about ever seeing anything like what they promise.

JR programmers building a MMORPG (of any kind) is not going to happen. Let alone one with the feature set of DF.

You know what's funny?  I was going to make a post just like this comparing D&L and DF last night but I figured what's the point...

The similarities are great.  D&L actually released more info and media though and had people actually playing it.  Ha

you don't need a powerful server to run a message board. They probably just backed up the database.

Well, i got a trail key a while ago, and i wanted to use it.

And than i came across..

April 29, 2008  Important Trial Code Changes

Lineage II community, we hear you!

Lately, we’ve all witnessed a staggering increase in the number of Lineage II trial accounts that are being abused. As we all know, the purpose of a trial account is to give someone who hasn’t tried Lineage II before a chance to give it a test drive. Unfortunately, our trial codes are being used more and more, by individuals who are not true members of our community, in ways that harm the player experience. We have received an overwhelming number of requests from our player community to put a stop to this trial account abuse; so, we have made a reluctant, but absolutely necessary decision. As of today, April 29, 2008, we will greatly limiting trial account creation. Current trial accounts that have already been activated will be left active.

We will also be making some changes to how trial accounts can be acquired. For the time being, trial codes acquisition will be limited, but you will still be able to acquire trial codes via the Refer a Friend program. We will be monitoring all trial codes very closely. This is something that we believe will actually create a better atmosphere for our players in Lineage II and, especially since our community has requested this move, we are happy to oblige.

For those former and potential players who may in the future wish to use a trial code with the intent to simply try out Lineage II, though limited, trial codes are still accessible! You can get a trial code from an existing player via the Refer a Friend program. The Lineage II team will be monitoring this situation closely and will update our community on further developments and policy changes.

Thanks to our community members who report these abuses and do all they can to keep the game challenging, fair, and fun.

So, i tried my trail key and i didnt work, now i ask can somone reffer me?  and sent me a trail?

Greetings

if somone wants to reffer me and needs my plaync account its: hyaru (my plaync master account)

Define skill...

I'am not talking about actual player skill like in a FPS game.

for example in AC1's case.... There were a set of main statistics like quickness for example. If you placed exp directly into Quickness it also raised a secondary Run skill which made you faster...  Raising quickness also made you better at specific weapons such as Daggers..  It system like this just provides so much more variation than a stupid static class system.

I have been reading some interviews form bioware and it honestly sounds like a dream come true. They talk a lot about how the game will be very story driven and have meaning. They focused this topic a lot. My concern is this: What if them focusing so much on the story driven aspect of the game affected the actual game-play? They never mentioned much about the PvP aspect nor much detail about the PvE aspect.

Who gives a shit about story?  No one does. Nobody plays games for a story. They play games to kill shit , adventure , socialize , and progress. Not read a story.

Class and level based games are first generation. Why do these idiotic studios keep pumping them out year after year after year?  If you've ever played Asheron's call 1 in it's golden years you'll know how awesome it was and it was a skill based game.. It had levels but they meant nothing other than giving a general indication of how long you've played etc..  Everything relied on your characters skills and how much exp was in each skill. Skill based games give the ultimate amount of freedom when it comes to player customization. And everyone knows people like freedom.

No?

Imagine WoW as a skill based game. Would it not be better?

I smell more trademark problems for Aventurine.

They still can't get Darkfall trademarked in the USA and they've been trying since 2003.

Mark (words only): DARKFALL

Current Status: Further action on the application has been suspended.

2008-03-18 - Report Completed Suspension Check Case Still Suspended

----

words only): DREAMFALL
Current Status: Registered.

Funcoms is already through and registered and there's no way the trademark attorneys would ever allow such a similar wording to be used in the exact same market / industry.

Just post as Catizone, it is your alt account isn't it?

LOL, I was thinking the same thing but wasn't going to point fingers just yet.

Edit: He's had so many alts just since I've been here that I've lost track of them all. I've personally counted at least 10-12 or so in the last year and a half alone.

Bren

What are you some kind of psychic? Because that's what you would need to be in order to know how many alts anyone has ever had...

And if I actually had that many alts than I would of been IP banned a long time ago.

Considering the AC2 engine is being used in games like LOTRO - yes it did have much better graphics.

AC2 has/had much better lighting , much better texture work , better modeling , much better water FX , had bump mapping...

AC2 was basically the first MMORPG released to have really great graphics..  everyone was amazed by them back than.

Asheron's call 2 was released in 2002 and completely destroys Darkfall's pathetic graphics.

So really.. it has graphics worse than 2002..
