That is about the dumbest thing I have heard since registering on these forums.

Manufacturing date is irrelevant.

Based on the above I would say no.

I (personally) am not concerned with a grind if I am enjoying the killing along the way.  Obviously the repetition of killing the same mobs over and over will eventually bore anyone, but because this game appears to balance the grind and pvp, I think people won't be overly ticked off from the leveling aspect of this game.  Everybody wants to hit the level cap ASAP, but to my knowledge, MMO's generally take several months before end game content is actually beta tested and worked out anyways so getting to level 80 in the first two weeks is moot point.

That is a substantial loss in FPS. 1-3 FPS drop would be a little loss.

and why do they need the money during a BETA?

Because bandwidth costs money.

If the beta is slated for May 1st, what day do you think they would possibly open up the client to connect?  Need I say more?

What is the salary range for this position?  What sort of benefits do you offer?  Thanks.

One more thing for the know it alls..  Just because you have 1gb or more of video ram doesn't mean games are going to go any faster.  Crysis can barely even eat more than 512mb of video memory... So if you think AoC is going to need more you are out of your mind, let alone dumb enough to fall into the trap of thinking more video memory = better.  Many other factors are more important than the number of MB your video card setup has.

ring a bell?

if AoC runs at 1920*1200 fine with a 9600 gt why should I pay for a gts? ok?

the important thing here is that this thread is not about nvidia cards, but on the AoC engine.

let's assume I'd asked about Crysis at 1600*1200.

The 8800 gt would often be at framerates under 25, while the gts would be about 14% higher and over the very important 25fps line. it might still jerk and stutter once in a while, but not all the time, as it is in framerates under 25.

today no card on the market is good for future games. the 9800 gtx is basically a 8800 gts and is severely limited at high resolutions by its tiny 512 on-card RAM.

the gt200 based cards will come out end of the year, which will feature 1 gig RAM and maybe even twice the shader units.

so I am not willing to invest in old technology as the g92 is.

but I want to play AoC and I am willing to pay the necessary amount of money to do that without a stutter-fest.

I hope this makes it clearer

This makes no sense.  You don't want a current card because you are smart enough to see that newer ones will be out later this year.  However, you're an idiot because you clearly said you are on a budget and you are going to buy one anyways.  Make up your mind.  Either deal with a g92/g80 or wait.  Why are you asking us to tell you what you already know?

worst advice ever. the only way to go is vista 64.

Why?  What do you think you are gaining from running a 64-bit os in a world full of 32-bit applications?  You do realize that 90% or more of the programs you are running are being emulated, right?

I use this argument on people all the time.  The only way you can know for certain if you like something is to try it out for yourself.

would the killer game card be good to buy? does it really help?

You may want to check this out.  These numbers assisted me in picking my card.  Also, the number of steam processors is not located on this page but the higher the better.  For the data on this page, the higher the numbers, the better.

I am happy with my 8800gtx.  The only thing I really don't like about it is the physical length of the card.  I have read that the 8800 gts 512 performs pretty close to par with the 8800gtx.  It's based on a newer chipset so it's smaller.  It is less money as well.  If you got the $$ go with the 9800 gx2.  At this point I would rather buy a single powerhouse card than multiple cards for sli because of what I (and lowryda) said above about sli optimization.  That will come down the road.  Also in order to sli you need use the exact same cards, so remember that for later, as well as greater power supply requirements for each additional card you add.  I think the minimum PSU for sli is like 750W.  Depending on the card you get, I would be on the more cautious side and go with 800 or 850W min for two cards, and around 1100W for a 3 card config.

As for 2gb or 3gb of ram, DDR2 is given a speed increase when paired up.  So 2X(1gb) would theoretically perform faster than 2X(1GB) and 1X(1GB) . I honestly don't know what the exact numbers are but I was only offering information from what I have read from other people.

The video card is going to be taxed the most.  So yea.. sli config of 9800's should smoke the game on high settings.  That is of course if this game takes full advantage of sli.  I myself plan to play with a single 8800gtx.  As for the quad core, the same thing applies.  Most games aren't optimized for that many cores yet.  Many agree that while playing games the order of importance goes as follows.  Video Card > CPU > RAM > HD.  Some may even bump CPU further down.  The reason being is that if you take a look at game load on today's processors, it rarely will spike them to 100% load.   Lastly, no games utilize 4gb of ram, nor will they for quite some time.  My suggestion (for compatibility reasons) would be to cut it in half and load a 32-bit OS.   But yea, these are just my opinions. . . .
