My gameplay shows obvious signs of latency issues but since there is no latencybar ingame I can not really confirm its the problem.

What I can say is that Im not enjoying playing the game like this.  So... Just wait - hope and see.

I wonder why MMORPG.COM doesn't close this topic since the title is as far from the fact as any title can ever be...  Funcom stock hasn't gone up for almost two weeks now.

No.... MMORPG.COM closed the topic that actually said that Funcom stock was at all time low.

Maybe time to get the facts right?

Same here.  We tried to point out what was wrong - we tried to say this game was not ready.  CB testers did everything possible to do their job right but the game was just months and months away from anything finished enough to give real feedback.

This is where Funcom went overboard.  They never listened - they were never going to in the first place.

That was before stock fell under 5 NKR per share.  Now its time to call for help and ask ppl to pay for the next two years before half of it can be implemented.

Now one thing is to realise it - now they have to change it all around.....  Thats why they are coming up with the great "powerpoint" system.   You pay them money - they reward you in 10 months time with something (maybe with items when they become worth getting ?) 

All in all - this letter from the director shows the huge issues the game has.  It also shows it will take years to acomplish this status.... oh wait Xbox version is coming ?  

But still the stocks keep falling for 15% per day.  Under 5 NKR now.

-To realise that items need to have some value to be worth getting. 

-To realise that look of the game is not as important as the actual gameplay.

-To reaslie the guild system and the future of "kingship" system was faulty from scratch

-To realise they need to give out items to ppl that are JUST gonna pay the subscription and not even play at this time. 

Now if only they would have actually listened to testers 2 years ago...

Quad core was not a promised feature pre-launch, multi core as in dual core was. I can run AoC on a sub $1000 machince including monitor just fine thanks. Processing the code for an mmo over 4 cores is a lot more work than over two. No other mmorpg uses 4 core processing, and only a handful of games currently do.

Does Xbox have 4core ?  If not then who cares about 4 core since the game will be balanced around xbox performance.  

Last thing that Funcom needs is to put their amatureish coders work on something more complicated than turning on the dishwasher. 

Oh btw - Funcom is buying a new 4 rack dishwasher...  Soon !!!

In my opinion that is how I would rate the game right now to date. I felt the reviewer had some relevant concerns which would of merit maybe one off the score or a half a point at least. Everyone has marks out of ten based on their own experiences based on a level of time with the game. 7 or 7.5 out of 10 is still good in my books, not excellent.

Music and graphic gives AOC a score of what it gets.  You can read the ratings on MMORPG.COM and you see the same.  But Music and graphics are not what makes a game.  If so then I would go and see a movie instead of trying to make my own living world.   Thats where AOC fails and will continue to fail.  Cause no matter how  you look at it ... the basic core systems of the game are still childish in design for a MMO game.   There simply isn't anything there to keep you intrested.  Avarage Joe will run out of goals and content in one month - and even tho few nerds dont agree on it - the huge number of ppl quitting in first few months kinda says it all.  Those ppl are not coming back. 

PVP patch will not save anything.  It might have stopped the rot like 2 months ago - but now it wont.  It really doesn't matter what FUncom does now.  The game has got the gamers raiting.  Who cares what a payed for reviewer says.  Oh btw.  I noticed that the AOC add loaded even before the review pictures on the website...

Even AA said it should have been 7/10.

So I take it we can be sure this is not a good review then

Im pretty sure that MMORPG.COM rating is pretty much to the spot atm.  Its been falling rapitdly.  Like many other things that has any relations with AOC.

Box sales of AOC is the biggest scandal in history of MMOs.  This is why ppl continue to give FUncom the huge stick that they truely deserve.

Why you might ask?

Cause they purposly fooled ppl into buying the game by HIDING the huge issues the game had.  This is a disgrace to any developer and that on its own should never be forgiven.

Would AOC have sold 800k boxes if Funcom had lifted NDA like Mythic is doing now ?  Answer is simple.  No - it would not have had 400k boxes sold.  Funcom knows it and they are just happy right now that they were able to fool this many. 

It pretty much tells everything needed about the MMO genre that the fastest selling MMO had no NDA lifted and was build up on PR and ads.  Rest is history.  That doesn't only make Funcom failing - it makes the entire genre a joke.

From now on - MMO devs will just look for the right window to release games  that are not ready - not tested and based on false ads and PR.

Im pretty sure there are alot of devs out there that are watching and hoping there will be more idiots asking stupid questions as why the talk of Funcom failing...

Now - let me remind you what EE said in his last interview.

About month before the release ALL work on DX10 was stopped to work on the performance of DX9.  So no - it was NOT the plan to launch the game with DX10 and that disission was taken MONTH before launch.

This has been done for years, because otherwise the 1-10 levels turn into a solid wall of characters (no matter how big your starting zone is, 100,000 1-10 characters will pretty much overload it). 

 

The other option is to shard starter zones at release (which is what Aion is doing). 

The third option is to just sit back and watch the servers crash multiple times (WoW gave everyone a free month for that).

I think you are getting the point...

Now - think about the new zones that are supposed to fix the lack of content.  Then multiply today with the normal 10  times of "next week".  And then maybe check the calendar what year it is. 

The past is the best predictor of the future.  Funcom is making it pretty easy to predict the future when it comes to fixing things isn't it ?

So you desided to cut DX10 about month before the release - right ?  On the Gamespot open beta there is talk about holding back features like DX10 till launch (like we closed betas belived that ? )

But the question then is....

Why on EARTH did we not get OFFICIAL announchment alot earlier that DX10 was not in?   Are you serioulsy expecting us to belive  that you were considering pushing it in week before launch ?  Untested ?

I want to remind you that there are questions here on this forums asking if the 17th of May launch would have DX10.  These questions were asked less than week before pre-order launch.  I did NOT see any answers.....

So why ?   Remember that ppl were STILL pre-ordering the game based on the fact that YOU were STILL claiming DX10 would be in the game at launch.

I personally spent quite along time on the closed beta forums and I know exactly what was going on.  I even remember you answering posters that were at LEAST asking Funcom to be honest about the state of the game at release.   At that point I think everyone was realising that the game would only launch half finished.   Well... we had at least a MOUNTAIN to climb in FOD few weeks before launch... If you know what I mean.... 

So why on earth did you guys at least not show the desency of beeing honest?  Many of the ppl that had played Vanguard tried to warn you about the huge backlash you would have if you didn't.  And I even remember one dev (can't remember if it was you) saying you would let everyone know about the state of the game.

So ... what happened ?  Why did you guys go this far in trying to hide the state of the game ?   Can it be that you guys still looked at the PC version to be just a balancing beta for the Xbox ?   Well... If you think so then let me promise you that alot of the Close beta testers will keep on doing their bit in warning everyone - every single one that is thinking of buying the game - how you PURPOSLY hid what was going on in the game at release. 

YOu should never be forgiven for that . You can say "sorry" all you like but some things that you have done in the past 5 months should never,ever be forgiven.

If it goes under 10 then its really serious problems. 

The Company is already in top 10 of the biggest downfall over the last 2 months.

Mythic was warned about GOA long time ago.

European players should expect problems - not just in open beta - but long after. 

Its one of those things that make you think - hmm should I go buy this game or wait 10 days and check out what is beeing said ? 

I think I will wait.

Open betas with these masses of ppl (free gameplay remember) are made to test the tech, hardware, and all IP issues that can come out.  

Now.. your welcome to compare AOC 3000 max populated servers to the mythic servers.  This is why we have open beta.  To fix things.  Not to just show up first area (like AOC) to fool few ppl to buy the game.

Now...  I know the state of WAR atm.  Thats all I want to know.  PPl were not given the chance to know the state of AOC at launch.  PPL spent money to find out that the game crashed cause of memory leaks.  Now...   If you consider that a win for AOC.  Then gratz.
