I'm not bitter at all. I just found it amusing that SOE is saying that having to close half the servers because of lack of population is a success.

I find it even more amusing that your reading skills are not a success.Nowhere did they say that having to close half the servers is a success, they did say that due to the success of the transfers they would be shutting those servers down.

The CU wiped out half my guild. Destroyed my doctor practice(And the business of the guy making the buff packs, the guys who supplied the guy who made the buff packs with resources)

The NGE wiped out the rest of my guild and 90% of the people on my friendlist. Wiped my jedi, wiped out the business of my three crafters, WS, chef and tailor. wiped out our city, and most effectivly wiped out all the fun of the game...

Prolly a lot more. Been playing LOTRO for two years now. Turbine hasnt taken away anything yet from my chars or gameplay. Actually they just keep adding shit. No wonder im still playing it....

Not that I agree with how SOE did everything, but I do see why they did it.To me there was very little challenge in SWG. Get Doc Buffs and Composite armor,Swordsman,Teri Kasi Master ,and Fencer and you could solo Huge Huge mobs and not be touched was a bit rediculous and needed to be nerfed hardcore. Now they could have done things alot better true. The game could have been balanced and fixed and never had to have CU,or NGE.

I play PC the most and for only one reason only a mouse and keyboard.Other than that I like everything else on a Console system. If only they would make it to where I could use a real PC keyboard and mouse, and no I do not like the Console keyboards,or the Blackberry style keyboards and they have yet to add mouse functionality so looks like I will still be a PC gamer.

You folks had better get used to the new casual friendly accessable mmo's of today.I am afraid that this is the new trend and I even read an article in Gamespot taken from a blizzard dev saying that they are even considering making wow into a free mmo with cash shops. You can look the article up under news on gamespots website if you interested in this.I do not feel like taking time to hunt it up and posting the link.

It does not look bad,but the little light trails from the engins looks really stupid. Its like the smoke trails from the ships in swg,did you see smoke trails in the movies in space? You can make your ships look like they are moving with the stars and planet enviroments. Eve has the best ship animations in a space game period.

I've just built my system but it doesn't seam to boot.
I don't get any beeps and no signal is getting to the monitor.
I have removed the RAM, but nothing changes. No beeps still.
I have tried removing all other components like the HDD and CD/DVD drive but still no luck.
I have tried booting with 1 stick of ram at a time in different sockets but no boot.
I have removed the motherboard from the case and re-seated the processor and all other componants but still no boot.
I have removed the cmos battery to clear it but still no change.

Check your Video Card. If you have an onboard video card and are using a seperate pci express card make sure you disable your onboard card in your bios.Make sure you have connected your HD cables correctly and that they are in the correct slots. As stated above verify that your HD is working. I am pretty sure your Ram is not the issue,I have rarely ran into Ram issues in past Computers I have built.Check your Monitor and make sure it is operating as well. Another thing that can cause you to see nothing is if your Video Card cooling Fan is not operating check to make sure it is on and cooling. In your Bios make sure you are booting up from the correct slot. In your bios you can name what you want to boot up 1st. Most people have their PC's boot up from CD Rom nowadays, but a few still boot from floppy if you have an older system. Hope this helped:P

IMO battlefields are mini-games, and  they are turning the galactic civil war into small confined areas of controled PvP. Essentially it's becoming a game of TFC or Counter Strike inside an MMO. This might sound like a good idea now but the overall game will suffer as the sense of community diminishes as this game morphs into an arcade shooter.

There simply needs to be a greater purpose for a GCW then tokens and rewards, and a sense of lose to ensure people are driven to help their side win.

Last I checked in the Star Wars Movies they had mini-battles through-out the series,Battle for Hoth,Battle for Corasant,Battle on Endor,Battles on The Wokie homeworld just to name a few.I always felt BG's would have fit in SWG just fine.I would have liked it better in Pre-Cu form, but this can work. I also read a post further up stating the BG ques were too long and the bg's were buggy,I think you would expect that when it just hit the test center.Instaced zones for pvp in mmo games is a good thing imo, they seem to have less lag than world pvp as well.I like games that have both world and instanced pvp.I just quit playing swg again and had fun for about 6 mos,but even with all these good updates you still have to deal with the NGE interface which is the worst ui ever concieved.I think SWG would do well again id Sony would realize the ui is main reason people do not play for long.  LOL sorry for the huge wall of text that crits for 9999999,but installing UT2004 while I post a bit:)

It sounds very awesome to me,some outside the ole' traditional mmo thinking here. This could be very immersive and engaging a real refresh from the same ole' drudge that exists in most mmo clones. I like the idea's you have presented and will like to comment further as I have time to think about this idea Nicely Done:)

Like the title says, will there be any 'star wars' in this?  Thats the one thing in SWG that I did like..customizing ships etc.

I play EvE right now for my space fix, but I'd love it if TOR gave me a reason to leave.

Thanks.

Forget about SWG! I hope there is litttle to 0 resemblence to SWG.I hope they get it right and try not to make another clone of an existing game.

You know how many cranky "good ol' days" vets will burn you alive for saying that? They have wet dreams about another (pre-NGE) SWG game. Even though Bioware has not suggested that TOR will be like SWG.

To OP, yeah, I hope so too. The ships during Luke's time were always goofy, but the ships from the newer Star Wars movies are sleeker, faster, and more "spacey", so I hope to see (and be able to fly!) some of those in-game.

I am a Day 1 SWG vet,and believe me,I do not want to see another game like it. I played SWG,in its pre-cu,cu and NGE states,Been there done that. I am looking for a new game experience and it looks like Kotor Online might be on to somthing.

Agree with most all of this content wise and depth of game Eq2 just buries WoW plain and simple.Amazes me that WoW been up long as Eq2 yet they cannot seem to get a expansion out but every 2 years with all the money they are bringing in but guess when your not losing subs to other games much you don't really care when you put anything out.Blizzard and WoW are still on top atm but all the WoW fan bois should remember Eq1 was on top for alot of years as well it will cycle through to someone else sooner or later.

I do not see it cycling thru ever.I think the reputation SOE has right now keeps alot of gamers from puting alot of time into this game. Most are to afraid SOE will come and ruin it for them so they simply stay away.I played the game for awhile and thought it was a decent game.It deserves to have a better population than what it has.I do not see any of the current SOE games ever recovering from their current states. It is still to early to see how Free Realms will do,The Agency and DC Universe are Sony's Best chance at having a Blockbuster game.If these fail Sooo Long! SOE.

That sounds to me like they are going to start charging everyone with an account a monthly fee. I logged into my account just to make sure that I didn't have any credit card info in it.

My account was created after it went free to play so I didn't have to enter any cc info to play it. If your account was created back when you had to have a cc to play it, you may want to make sure that it's cancelled, or remove your cc information.

All accts. that are active now should be fine. When I played the free trial I never had to give any financial information Credit Cards etc. So if they do not have the information how can they charge the acct? I think the Caution is to let those used to playing free to get ready to start paying again if the want to continue playing. Now that being said ,It does say All accounts so if you had a previous active acct. I would call them and make sure.

Why are you guys consistently trying to push features from the biggest failure in the history of all MMOs on every game?  You guys seem to make a habit of trolling the forums of every new game with a popular IP and demanding that they be turned into a virtual world where there is nothing to do but grind bols and admire the scenery. Face it, your precious game is dead. Even the makers of the next Star Wars game realize this and are going the complete opposite route that SWG took. Ask yourselves why no MMO maker wants to touch what you want with a ten foot pole and then get back to us. And no, because they are assholes won't cut it, a REAL business reason based on logic not emotion. In the meantime, the SWG Veteran whinage forum is that way------------------->

Last time I checked JTL expansion was not the greatest failure ever.SWG has always had good features,it was the leadership that caused it to fail. When it comes to building a Star Trek game, they should definatly take a look at JTL,there are some good ideas in this expansion pack that could help them as they develop the game. I agree tho, leaving out ship interiors is a HUGE Mistake.I predict STO will probably turn out alot like Star Trek Legacy = Junk. I hope it does not ,but it will.

Although I do not like what they did,I can understand why they did it. Ido not blame them for trying to stop people from illegally downloading their music. I agree they ruined SWG,but its better than wow to me and I will play it for a little longer.

Ship Interiors were what I would be looking for the most, maybe they will add them via an expansion,I read that they might do that later on.I am most disappointed in the Graphics engine they are using,at 1st it did not bug me too much, but as new screenshots kept coming out the worse it looked to me.

Personally I would prefer a game made by bioware in the timeline of the current movies as this is what I have come to know and enjoy.

I'm just curious, thanks.

I don't think so, also depends on what you call a new graphics card. I would define a new graphics card as a GPU with a new chip on it. Companys often release a "new" card but just crank up the clock speed on the old one or put more/diffrent DDR on it and increase the transistor count.

For instance concerning ATI (real men use AMD hardware, FACT!).

HD 4650 and HD 4670 =    RV730 GPU

HD 4850 and HD 4870 =     RV770

HD 4890                        =       RV790

Some cards have different names but have the same GPU, even the the new RV790 is very similar to the RV770 just enlarged. Now I'm no longer an Nvidia user but from what I can gather their newest card since the 8800 is really the 260, Nvidia are good with driver udpdates and there probably are some updates every month. But if there were a new card every month they'd go bust. Maybe they have the manufacter's releasing new variants on the cards they make every month, but certainly not a new card.

My advice is go ATI and support AMD in the crusade against the infitel!

I agree with you about the Radeon cards woot! I will never buy another Nvidia card again as long as I have a choice.Seems like every Nvidia card I ever purchased had hardware problems, like fans burning out etc.I am a Radeon fan for the time being:)

Whats so wrong about posting what you would like to see in the game? Don't you think it is possible to take the great things that were there in the original Galaxies and incorporate some of the finer aspects into the game your creating?I for one agree that Pre-Cu had its faults, but not all of it was bad. They say that Kotor Online is shooting for a very deep immersive storyline,so it sounds like to me they could add some of the immersive elements galaxies had into that storyline like the way galaxies made you feel you were unique in that universe. What I am looking for in a new Sta Wars game is not another Galaxies all over again,or anither Iconic game like NGE.I am looking for a game that will be immersive and bug free.I like what they are doing so far, time will tell.Bashing Galaxy vets for adding their opinions is not productive.

Now wait a minute, I don't think they'd let it go this far to let it fail

However notice that NOWHERE did it say they were in the office 7 days a week working full time on the game

gotta save money somewhere.

Let me remind you that Perpetual had a game called Gods & Heroes that was pretty much a finished product and just about ready for release and they closed down the game and the company. How far a game has progressed means absolutly nothing in todays economic environment. You would be wise to not get hyped about this game until you see it finished and released.
