It moves. We found one in Thunder Mountain last night by accident. |

Just curious...from this part of your post, do you typically just run scenarios? It would seem so from the way you put this. No offense meant...just asking as this tends to be the experience of a lot of folks that have come over from "another game" where "battlegrounds" were their entire concept of PvP. Personally, I think that scenarios are a VERY skewed vision of the overall RvR (more than PvP as people seem inclined to describe it) experience of the game. Basically, and as has been seen in MANY forum posts here time and again, if your basis of judgement of PvP for this game is from scenarios, you are WAYYYYYYY off and missing a LOT of the actual game itself. The addition of the two new classes has indeed "filled in the gaps" but I don't think either have shifted the game to any large extent (yes, Knights helped Order out a whole lot, but not by a huge amount....there are still "numbers" to overcome and Mythic has not addressed that). |

trial, buddy keys or something?

It was very limited and more of a small promo thing. You had to go to some specific store....I think in Chicago or something....for an event. Other than that, they also had "Preview Weekend" which was right before launch. As for an extended, "try it free anytime" kind of thing, I don't see that happeneing. (2) To quote you again "because this game has had huge problems with gold-spammers"......This is completely WRONG. They have never had a "huge" problem. In fact, they have been fantastic in countering the spammers....just check out the "Banhammer" count. Gold matters very little in the game at the moment, but even so, there are many ways to punt spammers quickly. I rarely if ever get a gold spam and if I do, it is in the mail....you never see it in chat at all.
Anyways...sorry, if you are wanting to "just check it out", but there is nothing like this right now. As others have said, just fork over the few bucks and give it a whirl. You might be out about the equivalent of a dinnner out with friends on a friday night at the most. |

Would WAR have been better with 3 factions?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 12/15/08 2:56:42 AM
No one has said there WON'T be a 3rd faction at some point. Speculation is fun.....what if? what if there had been a third? what if there is one coming? .....some say the third might be Lizardmen, Skaven, and Vamps (or Ogres)....so who is to say? I think right now , the right focus....and the one going on....is to work with what is in the game now and balance correctly as well as work out technical issues. What's coming next? Who's to say.....but feel free to fill forums with useless specualation. |

They are an essential part of the game. After taking ALL keeps and BOs in a zone you will only be at 85 VPs, you must still grind PQs, win scenarios and even PvE questing helps a bit in order to get your remaining VPs up to enough to lock a zone. It was done on Ostermark today in Praag. That group had 3 warbands grinding PQs and running scenarios for about 3 hours while other warbands took BOs and keeps. It has to be a very coordinated effort. THIS is the part a lot of new or inexperienced players do not get about the overall RvR aspect of the game...as Mythic has said over and over.....WAR is EVERYWHERE......and EVERYTHING counts! |

How is the magic system in this game?

Somewhere in between.....but then, reading the available documentation and many caster specific forums on warhammeralliance.com would help you more too. |

Also....if you don't already know and do this...after any patch or when you seem to have graphic issues.....clear out everything on your cache folder.....literally!.....under your "WAR" directory, you will find a "cache" folder....select everything in it and delete it. The game will rebuild it as needed. Sometimes you are using "old" or probalematic cached files if you do not clear them out. Hope this helps! |

From here out, they should be smaller patches for bugs and adjustments. As for a "final" patch....never have seen one with ANY software if people are actually using it or it's not being replaced. Personally, I am really looking forward to more in the area of keep defense and BO's too. This will get interesting....and hopefully stop the flipping of keeps for RP and gold bag farming....especially in "off" hours when no one is there to really fight back or even try (this means you Swampstalker! |

He is in Altdorf (for Order...but same for Destro in IC) right in the flight master's room literally 4 steps away from where you land. If you completed all daily tasks till this point, today you will get the "basic" reward which is a nice trophy for your gear. Also, per the hot fix today, daily tasks are no longer one per day. You can go back and complete any you missed as well. Soooo....you can do all 4 today if needed to get to "basic" influence. |

Haven't played the game yet, but my speculations on what's happening...
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/21/08 6:27:00 PM
Do NOT base your decision on ANYTHING posted here....from either side. This forum in no way paints a true picture of the game, state of the game, etc. I would suggest looking to other forums (for example, warhammeralliance.com or others listed on the warhammeronline.com official site) to get a better perspective. Sadly, this not only applies to WAR but just about every forum on here....but that's due mostly to the larger, general focus of the site to "try" to provide information for all MMOs. If you want specific game information, you are better served by specific niche sites. Personally, I check this site and forum simply for amusement only at some of the unbelievable nonsense postings (from both sides...troll or fanboi). |

On Ostermark, I'd say the game is really taking shape now. Realm pride is growing. There are BIG nightly open RvR battels all throughout ALL tiers with sides trying to lock down areas. On the Order side, we have great communication going now for T1-4 between not only guilds, but various alliances and even non-guilded players (ie. Alliances makes sure to spread word on region chat too). So you are seeing more and more coordinated efforts across tiers. I am sure Destro is doing the same on their side as it is a continual see-saw. This has made the game soooo much more fun even now.....and we haven't even begun to take capital cities yet. I would just say give it time. This game is far "larger" than a lot of people realize. |

I disagree with you on all counts (not to mention most all of these over/under-powered posts are growing more and more tiresome). I think you are missing perspective here. There are soooo many more factors that go into WAR's balance that you need to look at before making any judgement calls like you are doing. First and foremost, you are spinning your wheels comparing ONE class versus ONE other. That has been stated too many times on all the other many balance discussion posts. That's not what WAR is about. Secondly, often times when people get on here claiming this-or-that is over/under-powered it is because they aren't seeing the large picture of the number and composition of classes on each side (which you do make mention of after your bright wizard discussion)....not even to mention getting into level variations, player skill, gear (to some point), etc. ALL of those conditions and more will often times make one side (and/or class) seem to be "uber" when in fact they are no more so than any other. Secondly, a lot of what is seen as over/under-powered is due to level diferences as you move up. You will see a lot of what appears to be advantage for classes kind of switch back and forth as you move up levels. This, I think, is largely due to how folks seem to be training skills up as they move along as well as what is availble to them at the time. As you get to higher levels and moreso at 40, you will see a "leveling" of this effect and more clearly see the kind of "balance" you would expect. I would say, be patient....as mentioned, at higher levels, you will not see those big variances that you chalk up to "overpowered". Then it really does come down more to player skill, team/warband composition, team tactics, etc. As for the coming patch....I refuse to call it a "nerf"... as it actually is pretty much across the board and adjustments that are needed for everyone. As for scenarios and your arguement about who has more healers than who or what not, well, if you don't understand how that works, I can't do much for you. Scenarios are just "luck of the draw". Sometimes you get a good mix, sometimes you don't. It is not a flaw of the game itself. Often it depends on how many of what types of classes are on and queued at any given time (yes, you see TONS of destro Chosen because more often than not every little teen kid thinks "oooo Chosen look cool and I will be such a badass" versus "what can I do to help my side out more"). I don't see Mythic doing much for that as they can't really since it would just clog up scenario queing more (ie. you can't do something like "wait till at least 3 healers que on each side" or anything and you sure can't force people to que who are not, sooooo). |

Same thing on Ostermark last night....in fact, we probably had some of the best Open RvR in T4 in a long time. 2 full warbands of Order mixing it up with 2-3 WBs of Destro. Started wth chasing each other around Praag till we (Order) ran them out with their tails between their legs (haha). Then we found them again in Thunder Mountain and the beatings continued. haha Just fun fun fun.....and no slow down due to "that other game". |

Actually that's some entry/junior level code right there. You should never hardcode values like that. Which is what I suspect is part of the reason the level 41 slipped in. I suspect they have the ability to raise the cap at some point rather easily (expansion a la Blizzard-style "raise the max level"). I have seen level 51 and level 54 gear in the auction house as well and was told by a CSR "we are looking in to it". Sooo......yeh, not a EPIC bug by any means and Mythic will handle it. As the old programmers saying goes, "if you aren't constantly changing your code, no one is using it". |

This has been going on since CB. I report it each time and give item name/description. I play Order and still will occasssionaly get a Blackguard drop. It'll get worked out. Just report it and move on. At least you can sell them. haha |

Glad to hear you are having fun. It only gets better too! On my server, Ostermark, we finally have a healthy number of T4 players on both sides that are on throughout the day. You can jump on most anytime and find some good open RvR now. We have been having some amaziing battles through the streets of Praag here in the past few days.....I mean even down to having to go house-to-house and clearing! It is soooo fun! Anyways.....glad you shared your positive experience. I am sure this will turn into another troll fest with the usual posts about all that the Mr-Know-It-Alls would "fix" to make their perfect game but pay it no mind.....none of us do either. |
